The location was perfect for where we needed to be the next day and is a good choice if you just need somewhere to stay. The staff member we saw was friendly and very helpful and the breakfast perfectly adequate. The bar was clearly a popular local watering hole with a faithful clientele and a happy vibe. The property is a fine old Victorian (or possibly Edwardian) residence with spacious public rooms and bedrooms; though it is all looking a bit faded now. It is within easy walking distance of the centre of Sale where there are some great restaurants.

The rooms did not feel very clean, though the beds were comfortable enough and the en-suite bathroom modern and well equipped.

Nice, polite reception. no fuss parking on the property, Owner responded to our queries and accommodated our requirements. Attractive price. Very good as one night stop with free parking. warm room, comfy beds. Overall meet our needs and expectations - we were visiting Manchester for a concert so we needed somewhere to pop in, get changed after journey (about 250m) and then, after the concert come quietly back to have a good night sleep and be back on our way home in the morning. Quite generous 10.30am check out time.

Our room (no 7) was a bit tired. Blind in the window dropped only half way, BUT as a back up there were thick blackout curtains - so more about aesthetics rater than practicality. Wallpaper coming away in the corners so it could do with a bit of refresh but nothing major. When we arrived in the evening we could hear TV and people talkig/children crying through the wall, but when we came back after midnight it was all quiet. This though made us very aware of making any noises when we were getting ready for bed.Giving the price paid though, no complaints.

Easy to find, good off-road parking. friendly welcome, clean and comfortable room. an excellent home-cooked evening meal with sensible prices on both food and bar. This was a one-night stopover before flying out from Manchester the following day, and was as comfortable as any of the airport hotels (who also charge for parking!) at around 50% cheaper. With another holiday planned for November it’s safe to say we will be back. It’s also worth noting that locals use the restaurant as well, which is always a good sign.

Nothing to not like.

It’s an older style property with lots of character. The room was comfortable and the shower worked well. Maybe a little tired looking but still very good value for money and in a quiet area just 15 minutes from the airport.

It was a very hot night and we had to have the sash windows either wide open or closed as we couldn’t find a way to have them slightly open. Guessing that’s not often a problem. Otherwise all good.

It was my 2nd time 2 stay there, I like it there , I did stay breakfast because I had 2 drive back 2 l Leeds r a flight, I got the breakfast in my 1st stay and it was lovely..

The only thing I have 2 say is the checking time is a bit late, 4pm.

Liked - The hearty English breakfast, 08:00 on weekdays 08:30 at weekends. Homely ambiance, large garden behind the house. The room was clean and the necessary was available Downstairs is a small bar, small snacks available, TV available. Perhaps not so suitable for visitors with pet allergies, 2 large quiet dogs are present in the bar in the evening. No staff present between 10:00 and 16:00, Call system for taxi is present to get a taxi, they are usually present after 5 to 10 minutes.

Both continental and a full English breakfast were available. No evening meals were provided however take-aways could be ordered and there are also a few restaurants within walking distance. The room I occupied was on the second floor which was comfortable and quiet. There's no lift which didn't bother me but access would be difficult for someone with mobility issues.

The weather!

we’ve visited numerous times over the years, but, our first return since COVID. so pleased to see the owner is still in situ, so friendly & a warm welcome for us too. A shame that due to fuel/energy costs at this time, it’s becoming less cost effective for them to produce meals throughout the day (from Xmas Eve 2022) Still a very good bar, but, footfall & cost of living is not good for the hospitality industry now, such a shame when there are so many really nice guest house owners now struggling under this Government

A shame that due to rising energy costs that they’re looking at shutting their kitchen So Sad….

The room is tidy, and the toilet and bathroom are super clean. The hotel provides shampoo, shower gel, and complimentary refreshments. There's also free parking. The staff are nice and helpful.

The only slightly negative aspect is the location, which is a 15-minute walk from the tram station. However, this is reflected in the price we paid.

Wonderful staff. Had a very nice meal in the restaurant and a lovely breakfast. The bedroom was slightly dated, the mattress I feel was ready for an update, as was the room, however it was very clean and had everything thing you needed, tea, coffee and toiletries. Spent a lovely evening in the bar area. Excellent value for money and will be returning.

Would have preferred a light by the side of the beds rather than one on the wall in the middle. Maybe update the mattress and bedding. Only small things and just to do with personal taste.
