food ok

our flight was delayed for 24 hours so i provisionally booked in for another night . the next lunch time the receptionist asked us to pay for that nights room booking which i did. I asked why dozens of people were waiting in the foyer and was told they where being booked in and paid for by TUI due to the flight delay. as i would clearly qualify for this block booking i asked to cancel the payment i had just made but was told it was non refundable. I consider the receptionist cynically took the payment know full well that TUI were arranging accommodation. obviously TUI could cut a better deal than i could so Novatel went for the biggest reward.

Nice, warm welcome. Very comfortable, spacious room with large bed, large TV, excellent shower/bath, and bathroom products. Due to storm Darragh, our Saturday evening flight home had been rescheduled to the following day, so this was an unplanned overnighter. Thankfully, we were able to get somewhere to stay at short notice. The room was very well soundproofed - an important factor given its proximity to the airport. The breakfast selection was excellent - one of the very best around, and we were very appreciative of the availability of gluten-free options. The female breakfast supervisor was very accommodating and kind (4-letter name, sorry we forgot the actual spelling, but think maybe 'Puni'). This was a feature of the hotel.

The hotel was literally steps away from the airport. The check in staff were extremely friendly and kind, and it is a short shuttle ride to the NEC (I was staying here for an event). The room was clean and comfortable and a really good size for a slightly longer stay. Breakfast was excellent and the one meal I ate at the hotel was also decent. There is a secure left luggage room only accessible by staff, which was great on my final day.

The communal areas can be a bit chaotic in the evenings, and getting the bill after my evening meal took a long time. The wifi is good, but in this day and age it would be nice to have secure wifi rather than an open network. But overall this was an excellent hotel and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We chose this hotel as an alternate to our original booking due to a really bad experience in the former hotel. This place was really good a wide variety of beers and ales.were available and well chosen the food we had for both breakfast and our evening meal was so nice freshly cooked with care and attention well presented and flavoursome. The room was well presented very clean and comfy, and managed to have a really good night's sleep extraneous noise was kept to a minimum even though it was next to the airport in Birmingham very little noise from the aircraft engines was heard. There were tea and coffee available and there was an option for the hotel staff to escort you with your luggage to the bag hall in the airport, overall a very good night's stay .

Although there was a lovely food choice, it was restricted as to what was on offer. No real not likes a very enjoyable stat

The room was a decent size even with the sofa bed pulled out, with comfortable beds, and good quality bedding. Liked that there was a mini fridge too - and complimentary cans of water - so that we could store some snacks for the evening. There was enough coffee/tea for our one-night stay also. There was a small gym area so was able to burn off some extra calories, and football was on in the bar. Location is perfect for departures, being right across the road. We had a 6am flight so was able to check in the bags the evening before (TUI flight - we went around 8pm and there was no queue), and head straight to security in the morning (3:30am - which was also really quiet and hassle free). It was well worth it and saved a lot of moaning from our young, tired boys. If anything, we left the hotel too early and had a long wait in the terminal instead, waiting to board. Really good price for the location and the convenience.

Nothing that really affected the stay but just a few inconveniences... The cups provided in the room are tiny and not worth making a drink in. We went to the bar to get some bigger ones. Also, only 2 glasses were provided even though there were 4 of us booked on. Nice, big TV but the volume is limited. I understand why this is done but seemed too quiet, and we had to use subtitles. We had to check out way before breakfast started, so it would be nice to offer a grab bag type breakfast.

Last time I travelled abroad from Birmingham I booked into Travelodge - a big mistake. The hotel was nowhere near the airport, the place was chaotic and badly staffed. 3rd rate restaurant. The staff at Novotel were helpful, friendly and appropriate. I had bought food from M&S at the airport as my experience at TL was so bad. Next time I will eat at this hotel and feel it is part of my holiday! As a traveller with sight loss I find getting to my destination quite scary. Will book into Novotel next time - thank you!

Always good to think about lighting and how 'glare' can be off-putting. Yellow is the easiest colour to see & good to think about when designing corridors and showing where lifts are etc.

The Novotel is a lovely hotel, situated in the perfect place, a one minute walk to Birmingham International airport! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice, containing stylish decor. It had all the amenities. We had a good night's sleep, considering we were right next to the airport! The bar on the ground floor was great, next to the restaurant. Fancy decor and good space. The restaurant had a nice range of evening food, including a curry. We had a delicious bacon & cheeseburger meal, which included very tasty chips. The evening waiters were all brilliant. For breakfast in the restaurant we had the buffet service, all cooked very well. Overall, a wonderful experience and great value for money considering its location.

Very clean and quiet seeing as it's right by the airport. The room was lovely & the bed comfy. Quick check in & very easy check out process. Would stay there again. Super close to the airport.

When we landed at the airport it was gone midnight and dark. It wasn't so easy to see the signage for the hotel due to this so we wandered around a bit trying to find it. A higher up, brightly lit sign directly opposite the airport departures (like some of the other hotels there) would have made it easier to spot it!! If it had have been daytime, this wouldn't have been an issue though. For anyone reading this the hotel is pretty much opposite the departures area however you have to walk to the left to get to reception.

The welcome the staff gave us was wonderful, and the staff who served in the restaurant were even more brilliant, making sure we had a really good evening in the restaurant, not just a functional overnight stay. The food in the restaurant was also delicious, with plenty of options for gluten and dairy free. The hotel feels wonderfully stylish, and as if you're spoiling yourself. We stayed in a family room, for me and my two kids, and the sofa bed was really big. The location is great for getting a plane, a very easy walk from the check-in and the car rental even with big bags (though admittedly it's the furthest of the airport hotels from the car rental and Terminal A - Jet2).

The double bed wasn't huge, so my daughter and I struggled to sleep in it together. The room was so well protected from the outside noise, that it actually ended up feeling a bit stuffy and we had to use the air con to get some air moving. However, I would prefer it that way round than having noise from the planes etc. It was surprsing how much noise we could hear from other rooms.

Stylish calm comfort, combined with its excellent location, made this an ideal stopover before & after our holiday. Rooms were clean and well appointed - especially impressed with the iron and full size ironing board! The restaurant is exactly that, "restaurant quality", having a good range of options expertly cooked and beautifully presented, the scallops & beef cheeks were particularly delicious, with a wine list to match. The staff were efficient, helpful & nothing was too much trouble particularly at dinner when Senura and Gairuka's cheerful and friendly service made us feel at ease and if this restaurant was on our local high street we would be regular customers!

Some of the modern fittings (eg shallow sink with no plug?) are a little bit style over substance but bearable for one night!
