The full English breakfast was very good, as were other meals when taken. The location was specifically chosen to be Town centre and close to friends we were visiting. All the staff were very friendly and helpful , especially the proprietor.

There were one or two minor items, such as corridor lighting, which required attention, clearly it was in hand, because as we booked out there was an electricians van in the car park . Currently the restaurant is only open Wednesday through Sunday, therefore no meals available on Monday or Tuesday. This is not a major inconvenience as there are several excellent cafes in the town centre.

The room was very comfortable and clean, and although it looked out on to the main street, it was quiet at night. Staff were pleasant and the pub was well-attended by locals. Also, they fitted me in at less than an hour's notice as I had not been able to check in to the pub I had originally booked. Great location with cafes and shops and a local craft market.

There was no food available, which was a bit awkward as I was out both evenings at Milton Abbey and would have welcomed some early dinner. Lack of breakfast was not such an issue as I found a little local cafe, Poets' Corner, where I had excellent coffee and a good bacon roll.

The staff were very welcoming, attentive and friendly. The room was a good size, very comfortable with a lot of facilities although one bed side light didn't work (didn't pose a problem to us but worth checking) We were seeing a band at the Exchange so the location of the Ship was ideal - a few minutes walk round the corner.

Although we had asked for a quiet room, what we weren't advised was that a band would be playing which was fine until we asked when they were due to finish. Answers varied from 1130 to midnight but they kept on playing to 1220 (and even turned the sound up around 1130). When we complained to the landlord he was very flippant and dismissive (he apologised the next morning though). Not having breakfast was a bit disappointing - perhaps it could be offered on the days when food was served. Alternative was a nearby local café (Oxfords Bakery) which was very good

Nice big room and bathroom. Quiet as not on road side. Was cold in there, but an extra heater to plug in and soon got toasty.Friendly, helpful staff.. I have stayed here numerous times and always a great stay. Close to the theatre, just a minutes walk.Live band that played until really late, but didn't bother me as don't go to sleep early. I would have stayed down to watch them, but was on my own.

Doesn't offer breakfast like it used to in the price. You just get up and let yourself out as nobody around, bit of a security risk as anyone can walk in the back door. Have to settle your bill for food and drinks the night before.

Very central and close to the Masonic Hall ( 50 Yards) which I was attending. Great that they had easy parking on site, but pay attention as you had to drive round block to access - but nice and secure. Although it is a Town Centre Pub, residents have a back door with private access which was handy as I was out late at a function. Nice greeting from Jeff the Landlord. It was ideal to be able to leave early next morning, with no check-out required. Will visit again.

Second stay here. This time just for one night 2-3 May in Room 2 which was very comfortable and clean. Nice clean bathroom with shower only . Great pub with extremely charming and friendly staff. We also had the pleasure of chatting to a few of the very welcoming local residents while enjoying fine ales in the bar. Our stay was most enjoyable, so thank you. I’d have no hesitation in recommending The Swan Inn for your visit.

Landlord was really friendly and helpful. Lovely modern bathroom, very spacious room and comfortable beds. Boots across the wrong and recommend the Chinese & Japanese takeaway that's 1min walk down the road, big portions. Co-op in the opposite direction and lovely bakery to sit down to have treats and tea/coffee. If your going to an event at the Hinton st Mary barn, worth staying at The Swan as it's 5min or less drive up. There is parking behind the pub. Didn't get to try the food but will next time. You need to inform let them know if you want breakfast the day before so the can prepare for next day. Great place, we would stay again if ever we're around.

Very welcoming, friendly landlord and the pub was full of locals on a Monday night, I bought a take away and was welcome to eat it in the bar with cutlery and a drink. Good parking and guest entrance. Clean room with comfortable bed. Good quality, well kept ale in the bar

No food available on a Monday but this is normal now, there was only the one Chinese take away open on a Monday. sadly no breakfast on Tuesday morning either, I needed an early start so it wasn’t a problem

Good location, parking and friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Easy check-in.

The shower heads needed cleaning as they were covered in limescale. The back entrance also could be cleaned up as there was a rather unsightly pile of used cooking oil. However, these don't distract from the fact it remained a good stay.
