This was a great first and last stop on our Zanzibar adventure. Shoki Shoki is close to the airport (About 30 minutes), they were able to arrange a middle-of-the-night transfer (2:00am), and it is in an excellent location for exploring Stone Town. We stayed twice with four children aged 17 to 7. Great for a family stay.

Perfect location close to the narrow streets of the Old town and the beach. Possibility to arrange trips and taxi for reasonable prices at the reception. Very clean and spacious room, friendly staff.

Breakfast might get monotoneous after couple of days (choice from 3 options).

Offers an excellent location, just a 3-minute walk from the beach and a 10-minute walk from the ferry terminal, making it incredibly convenient for both relaxation and travel. The staff were exceptionally helpful and attentive, going out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. The room was clean and well-maintained. Overall, this hotel combines a prime location, great service, and comfortable accommodations, making it a highly recommended option for travelers in Stone Town, Zanzibar.

A lift could be really helpful and practical, specially for gyest in teh second and 3rd floors.

Shoki Shoki was a lovely place to stay. It was in a great place in the town, and felt very safe. The staff were super lovely and the breakfast was great. The room was clean, had AC and a fan, and I appreciated the secure windows and shutters. Despite being in the centre of town it was very quiet and potable water was provided which was greatly appreciated - the number of plastic bottles we used on our stay in Zanzibar was eye watering so it was nice to just be able to refill our bottles. The airport transfer was seamless - the driver just picked us up from reception and was early which was appreciated.

Shoki Shoki was double the cost of other similar lodges I regularly stay in, in other areas of mainland Tanzania (Moshi or Arusha for example). I am not sure if this is just reflective of the market in Stone Town but was a bit of a shock.

Everything was very good : the room was clean, comfortable and furnished with taste. The air conditioning is working perfectly. Specially the people who are working there are very nice and helpful. Marian particularly is very nice. Most of everything, the breakfast is amazing, abundant, very tasteful and you got good choices. The location of the Shoki House is also perfect, you are close from the heart of the city and at the same time close from the ocean front. Very good hotel for the price and for discovering Stone Town.

I took the family suite for myself because I like having more space. So it was the ideal room for me. Enough space to spread out my luggage. I liked the coffee and tea that I could make with the kettle in the room. I like the africafe instant coffee. It’s way better than I expected. The location of the hotel is fine, just before the busy little streets of the old town starts and close enough to the coast (3 min walk) to other hotels and restaurants. The staff is super friendly and I got introduced into everything that was needed for a newbie in Tanzania. How to say hello and what people might say to me when I walk on the streets. Also how to use the safe in the room. My laptop fit in it by the way - that’s a plus. At night it was not noisy at all, maybe because it was low season. I cannot remember if there was noise coming from the mosque - maybe the first prayer woke me up a bit but it’s okay to handle. And it’s normal in zanzibar. All in all great hotel - would definitely book it again. Ah and the room (no 2) is dark, no daylight but that was fine for me. Oh and the breakfast options were very good. I chose the vegetarian one and got some extra eggs with it. It was very tasty.

The place is clean and very close to stone town,shops,coffee and even to those landmark places you want to see. Shout out to Marianne the girl from the front desk who arranged our day tour and assistance.The 2 girls from the restaurants namely Sauda and Olivia who served our breakfast perfectly and our dear Jose,the driver who picked us up from the airport to nungwi and send us to zanzibar airport. Shoki Shoki was a lovely little place in a great location. We were only in Stone Town for one night and the proximity to the water, sites and shops and restaurants was perfect. Staff were very friendly and helped us arrange a guided tour and airport transfer. Room was clean, spacious, and provided everything we needed for an enjoyable stay.

Our room was located on the first floor so it was a little noisy at nighttime, but that's something to be expected when staying in a central/busy part of town, so we weren't particularly bothered by it.

Everything from the location, to the facilities, and the staff were exceptional. The property was located in the heart of Stone Town, just minutes away from the beachfront and notable areas of interest. The building itself was historical with a beautiful Zanzibar style door. The interior was recently refinished—bright, but cozy. The room was bright, clean and cozy. We slept very well in the bed, and enjoyed spending some of our days inside while it poured down rain. Breakfast, each day was delicious. They offered a great variety of delicious options. And the staff provided exceptional service, always ready to help us with our needs while we were there. This was one of our favourite locations to stay at while in Zanzibar.
