We stayed 2 nights on Sat 31 August and Sun 1 September 2024, in an Apartment. This is a fabulous location and is a great stop-over while cruising Gippsland area. The Apartment was 40m2, open plan with kitchen area, dining table and lounge area. Rates were good. Management was helpful and friendly. Metung is a great small town, with only one shopping strip, with Metung Hotel and Pub as the central attraction on the water, a few good eating places, and a General Store. The Metung suburbs and area is interesting, with the Metung Springs Resort nearby (expensive). Bairnsdale is the closest town (20 minutes), for any further shopping needs. Lakes Entrance is also only 40 minutes away. Yes, Metung area and Waters Motel and Apartments are recommended.

Well maintained, great location and facilities. Staff were very kind and helpful. For the most part was an amazing place to stay for a family.

The shower over the spa bath was EXTREMELY dangerous, we went with an elderly person and she could not access the shower at all. The other adults also felt quite uncomfortable climbing into the spa to shower (shower head over spa bath), the side was exceptionally high and not safe with water/whilst wet. We also went on a hot weekend and the second bedroom was uncomfortably hot without an aircon and a fan that did work very well.

What a gem this place is! We had apartment 6 upstairs (Queen room) for three nights Location is amazing, literally a two minute walk to multiple cafes, bakery, pub with bistro, fish and chips, a small but very well stocked store, a lovely park with a children's splash park and playground opposite and water on both sides of the property. Our room was double in size to what I was expecting, well stocked with kitchen gear, a huge bathroom with shower and spa, a couch, four chairs and table, balcony overlooking the splash park and the apartment was spotless. We loved the secure parking at the rear of the motel and the pool in the middle of the bbq area was very well received by the multiple families that were staying. For the last 15 years we have stayed in Lakes Entrance however after finding this accomodation we would be hard pressed to be convinced to go anywhere else. Metung is laid back, family friendly and while there is not a "beach" the lake feel and over all more relaxed and small town vibe more than makes up for it. Good walks with lots to see, great bird life and lots of boats to sit and watch. We loved our trip to Metung Waters Motel and will 100% be back, with the rest of our large family!

This is not a negative, just a note to say if you are looking for a couples retreat this may not be it. There were many young kids staying with family while we were also staying and the central pool area was clearly a hit with the sound of laughter, squealing and splashing going on. While my daughter and I enjoyed the kids having fun others may not, it was during the day and early evening, not night time and did not take away from our experience at all.

Great location just off the main street, close to restaurants, coffee shops. Large room with good facilities, jacuzzi style bath, great water supply, easy parking. Originally planned to stay one night but on arriving decided to change plans and stay for two nights. Excellent location for day trips on land and water. Great breakfasts at the local coffee shops, take away food for picnic round the corner and excellent food for dinner at the hotel across the road.

There was nothing we didn't like - we would definitely stay again.

The location of the hotel, it is in the centre of town. How quite, clean and friendly the town is. It has a great pub with excellent staff. A number of nice short walks for a bit of excercise. A great place to relax. And for a change, Bairnsdale, Paynsville and Lakes Entrance are a short drive away.

The hotel did not have it's own laundry facility, one had to use a coin operated shop, which was 150 metres away in the main street. Metung also had a great gift shop, but it has been sold, and now the new owners in my opinion sell overpriced Chinese clothes and sundry nick nacks. Last time my wife spent over $500 this time she spent zip.

Staff friendly , place central , accom ticked all boxes clean, heating cooling, kitchen, location close to pub walking spots , just a very central location

Nah the motel was fine it was the lack of options re food and supermarket So much gouging it’s ridiculous, I know people are trying to recover after Covid but seriously the prices in small towns are just ridiculous as we are all suffering but to be asked to pay $8 for a packet of chips , yes I don’t have to buy and I didn’t but I just am appalled at the gouging at pubs , cafes. Bakery etc

Fabulous big room with everything you need for a comfortable stay. A king size bed, plenty of space for a lounge and table, with a balcony overlooking a park. The kitchenette had all the basics, including a roomy fridge. The bathroom was also roomy, with plenty of natural light. The location is also fantastic, and only 100m from the Metung Hotel (where the food is fantastic). I would absolutely stay here again next time we’re in Metung.

good location ,easy to beach on foot and other side pier nearby restaurant & cafe within 5 mins on foot . Very clean and fully kitchen inside apartment , enought lighting , so lucky to get 3single and 1 king Unit, please beware of bathroom 'design ,which is jacuzzi with shower and around 15 stairs to up stair bedroom ! Overall is good

Very clean and well placed in the centre of town. We stayed in the townhouse which had plenty of room and had own parking. We were pleasantly surprised that we had a daily freshen up of towels etc in the townhouse also. Also there was a washing machine and detergent provided so you didn't have to purchase any, which was great.

A coffee plunger or teapot - we did ask as none in apartment, but offered no options and reception didn't seem very interested in our request. Also main bedroom had plenty of room and a larger bed would have been preferable as not sure if a double or queen, but felt quite small. I appreciate everyone is still feeling drained / exhausted from COVID and tourist places are extra busy, but reception didn't seem as friendly this time we stayed. Probably very busy.

Amazing location, just across the road from local restaurants, cafes and the water. Perfect location to get up and go for a morning walk along the waterfront. The room décor, size and amenities exceeded my expectations. Considering it was a 'motel' I felt more like I was in a Hotel. Very pleasant room and atmosphere to be in. Enjoy some wine and cheese on the balcony or a lovely spa bath. Perfect spot to relax and refresh while visiting the local area. Upon check in the staff were quick to inform us of which restaurants were open for the dinner that night and what time the local general store would close. Which was very helpful as being a quiet Monday, the only place was the pub until 8pm and the general store until 6pm. Very grateful for the forewarning.

Just forewarning, not a complaint just advice - when checking in, best to park on the street not down the driveway (there is easy front street parking). As there are 2 parking/ entrances for the motel and this will save you needing to turn around in a somewhat small area if your room is situated on the other side.
