We stay here often....clean, friendly staff, good location. We always request beds without hard mattresses since we prefer softer ones...and they are always very accommodating to our requests.

The ice machine on site doesn't work....knowing this, we just bring in cups of ice when we come in. You can go to the lodging next door for ice.

This quaint, older hotel has undergone a complete renovation and upgrade to bring to to industry standards. It is small, quiet, comfortable, and well-furnished. There is no pool or hot tub, but that's not a deal breaker. Nice restaurant is located next to hotel property, a short walk. The owner, Joyce, is friendly and knowledgeable of the town and surrounding area......she's native to both. Really sweet !

New Years' Eve, and although the hotel is out of mainstream local traffic, there was a lot of noise emanating from 2-3 bars and eateries. Did not keep us awake of disturb us whatsoever.

Locally owned property. Owner was working the desk at check in. They are in the process of updating the entire property. Entered our room and no nasty carpet!! Floors are tile that looks like wood flooring. Room smelled fresh but no chemical/cleaning product smell. Small fridge in room was retro looking in a turquoise. Microwave and coffee pot matched. Then we sat down on the bed. Oh my.....most comfortable hotel bed ever. Felt just like my daughter's Tempur-Pedic mattress. Very nice and quiet at night. Also cameras cover entire property. Will definitely be our go to for all future trips to Fredericksburg.

Nothing we didn't like

Lovely place to stay with good facilities and friendly staff. Excellent cafe/ restaurant on site and excellent car parking. It is only a few minutes drive to town centre but its also a very pleasant walk in about 20 -30 minutes. All round excellent value.

Liked everything about the place.

The motel is clean, safe, well appointed, and the woman working in reception was very pleasant. There is a relatively large coffee maker in the room, which came into great use in the morning, and there was a very comfortable desk (and strong Wifi) where I was able to work in the morning as well. I would certainly return if I were again in the area. Across the parking lot was also a terrific and evidently well known and well loved local diner where I had a great breakfast.

One must check in by 9pm, though otherwise there is no other problem.

The motel was a very quick drive to Main St. If the weather had been cooler, it would be walkable. I was traveling alone & I felt safe in the room (all rooms are ground level) & traveling around this area. The room was comfortable & clean which is always my main concern. It had everything I needed for my stay...mini fridge, microwave, WiFi, TV, AC, tub/shower. The front desk wasn't always staffed, but they provided a number to call if you needed anything 24/7.

Sunset Inn is a nice and quiet motel, that seems to be one of the only independent (non-chain) accommodations left. Very friendly host, clean and quaint rooms. Bed was comfortable and overall very good value for the money. The diner next door had a big line on weekends for brunch, which is a good sign (we didn’t have time to try the food).

It’s a motel, so don’t expect 4-star quality beds and amenities, but it has everything we needed for a short stay. It’s a bit of a walk to the small Main Street area of Fredericksburg.

The sweetest lil old lady met me at the office and was very friendly and helpful. The room was just what I needed, comfortable bed, plenty of pillows, good a/c, plenty of towels. The place is a bit dated but well kept and clean. I don't believe in spending a whole lot of money on a room I'm going to be in with my eyes closed most of the time. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

The bathroom was a tad small but not uncomfortable.

It's a funky hotel, dating from the motor court era. The full-size fridge and two-burner stovetop allowed us to save a little on meals, but they do show their age. One burner stopped working; staff was there quickly to make a simple fix. The sitting area had a nice, modern sofa with chaise, while the bed frame was an antique. Vinyl plank floors were welcome. The husband-and-wife staff (owners?) were friendly, helpful and attentive.

Nothing, really. As they continue with updating, it will just get better.

Location and office staff was very helpful

Location was good and office staff was great! But was very disappointed in the pool it was full of bugs and crickets! My grandson didn’t want to get in water because of that! The bottom looked dirty as well! Were told to show our key to get towels next door, she said they probably didn’t have any clean towels she went and looked and found 2, it was around 3pm they should always have towels
