Just about everything. First impressions were good , from the outside it is a very nice looking & well presented hotel being a historic 18th century coaching inn. Inside it very clean and well maintained being a mixture of old and modern. The staff were all very friendly & highly professional. The room was well sized with a big bathroom comfortable bed & all toiletries provided & nice & quiet. In the evening we had a lovely meal in the nice restaurant & reasonably priced & in the morning we had a lovely breakfast. Overall very impressed with this hotel, one word Quality!
I suppose if being picky, no sugar provided for our teas/ coffees in our room, & perhaps a packet of biscuits would have been nice. Also view from our room was of a wall but hotel can't do much about that.

Our room was great as we had a dog with us we had a courtyard room. The hotel offered food pretty much all day, the staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Its on a high street so you do have access to local restaurants too. There Sunday roasts were delicious!
The only thing we found was they run out of items on the menu. They need make sure they have stock into cover the weekend. The hotel was not even that busy so they should not have run out. Also Smart TV’s upgrade would be great for people staying for a few nights. Noted the chain has them in their other hotels.

Location was perfect and easily accessible. It's in the town centre so accessing shops, bars, restaurants etc simple. Lovely building, with some rooms separate from the main property. Free parking at the rear was perfect but beware the entrance - it's tight! Lots of places to see locally. The nearby multi lock canal and National Trust offerings are worth a visit.
Limited evening menu and with steaks off the menu on the night we ate there, a little disappointing. The shower, in room 16, needed the attachment sorting as did the sink taps, that were loose. Fresh milk for the room was a lovely touch, however, a mini or miniscule fridge would be better than an insulated container.

The hotel is beautiful. It is very old but the decor and furnishings are gorgeous and although sympathetic to the age of the building, also bring a modern touch. There is plenty of parking and in a great location in the centre of Melksham. The hotel room had everything we needed and was again done in a gorgeous colour palette. There is no fridge but you are given a small thermos for milk which was a thoughtful touch along with luxury coffee, tea bags, bottled water and a cafetiere. The breakfast in the morning was lovely and there were good choices on the menu. All the staff were very attentive and friendly. This is more like a luxury hotel than a pub and we would definitely stay again.
Only downside was both the hot and cold taps was running hot water. It was good we had bottled water as you couldn't have gotten cold water otherwise.

Staff were amazing, all very attentive, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was absolutely faultless on each of our 3 days, honestly among the best breakfasts I've had in almost 30 years bouncing around the world, spending lots of time in hotels for work and pleasure.
My wife and I both prefer a walk in shower as we are getting older and find some baths have deep sides and are hard to get in and out of, especially when there are no handles on the walls for support. But that's a personal preference not a criticism of the hotel

The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. All staff we encountered were lovely and we felt welcomed. The food we eat was delicious both at dinner and breakfast.
The shower was very small. There was noise from other rooms which we could hear and meant we couldn’t get to sleep when we wanted to. Others were not being noisy just chatting but it still affected us. It wasn’t clear where the parking one and we had to drive around a few times to spot the entrance. We arrived in the dark which didn’t help.

This is my 3rd time staying here. Lovely accommodation staff are all friendly and accommodating. We had a couple of issues with our room at first, but the staff responded very quickly to rectify them. Would definitely stay here again. Best place to stay in Melksham.
Seems silly, but the room was too hot, but staff turned radiators down for us. The key lock on the door was awkward to open this was fixed straight away. The cold water came out hot, so I had to let it run for a bit. The hot tap was very hot did scold my hand a bit, but nothing drastic . But still a lovely time there. Could of done with mirror by dressing table but there was a full length one in room so not too bad.

Lovely room, clean, comfortable. Good staff. Bath a treat and excellent toiletries. Lots of lovely touches, water, nice biscuits, decent tea and coffee, milk from the fridge…
Let down by the food. Breakfast portions on second morning obviously intended for one person divided between two of us. Lots of healthier options on the dinner menu were not available. Caesar salad was very poor and missing ingredients. Very disappointing, unlikely to eat dinner here again.

The food was Amazing ,second to none, it was exceptionally good. The staff were very good couldn’t do enough for you. Dinner and breakfast we extremely delicious great quick service with hot food, super menu too.. They had lots of Christmas parties going on, but this did not deter from the service we were given or the time the food was served etc., all and all a very pleasant experience.
The room was pleasant enough, but could do with a bit of an update as did the bathroom. Carpet was a bit stained headboard also.. Bathroom ceiling flaking shower split in certain places in the hose so spurting out all over the place.. Could do with a bit of bleach in the tile work.. Complete update would be better maybe just a decent shower..

There was ample free parking. The standard double was okay, as was the bathroom. Dinner was great and there was a wide range of choice for breakfast, which again was of good quality. The staff were all friendly and professional, especially the manage who ordered us taxis at a very busy time.
We arrived when the town was preparing for a festival that day, so once parked we couldn't use the car again. The temperatures were probably below zero and our room heater wasn't really up to the job. In fairness I'm sure we could have asked for a portable heater but we were only there for one night so - - -. After dinner we paid by card at the till and it wasn't until we got home that we realised that we had paid a 10% service charge. It was an "Optional Service Charge" but when the price seems about right you don't check do you? Maybe YOU do! Anyway, all-in-all it was a pleasant stay.
