First impressions were good, the outside looks immaculate. The staff at the reception were very polite and helpful at all times. We had room Number 1 which was bright, fresh and quite spacious. The bathroom was also bright and large space too. We ate in the bar but only bar snacks as we were attending a wedding reception at Wicksteed Pavilion for the night. This was a 10 minute walk but a little longer coming back, as a little bit of alcohol was consumed by yours truly. This is a pleasant Hotel and Spa and it appeared to be busy this weekend. Thoroughly recommend this place.
We had an issue with shower handles/controls but it was quickly sorted.

Cheaper than our usual hotel on this occasion & we definitely have a new favourite hotel for overnight stays to visit family. Spa was amazing. We only got 1hr due to baby shower event being block booked.... but 1hr was ample time to relax & immerse yourself in the experience so don't be put off if you can't get the full 3hr slot. Lovely bathroom with great shower, including controls being well away from shower head (meaning you could get the ideal temperature before getting in) Very comfortable bed. Enjoyed having a cocktail on the garden veranda at sunset. Overall, it was a very relaxing one night stay.
Some aspects of the room could do with updating. Poor WiFi signal. Small TV with basic channels compared to other hotels. No USB charging portals

Breakfast selection was very good and the cooked breakfast was lovely. The staff were friendly. We used the spa on the day of checkout, my only comment on that would be that we were told the spa facilities could only be used once. Had we been staying for longer then I'm not sure how the use of the facilities would have changed, but either way to have a limit on the amount of times you can use the spa facilities I didn't think was great. Other than that it was a lovely hotel with good facilities.
There was no hair dryer in the room, but there was an ironing board and iron. Thankfully a hairdryer wasn't needed and it may have been that we could have got one from reception, but there was no information in the room about the facilities at the hotel, which is handy to have. No information if room service was an option and had we wanted to have breakfast in the room there was an additional £10 tray fee on top of the £15pp for breakfast.

There was an excellent breakfast buffet providing a good range of choices. The staff were overwhelmingly good. Our room was spacious and bed, extremely comfortable. Towels were fresh and the room nice and clean. The location was perfect for the event we attended. There was ample parking and the property was old but elegant!
We did eat dinner in the restaurant but both felt it a little underwhelming. I think it was a new menu being introduced but I did not think it value for money and the main meal could have been presented better on the plate. However, portions were generous!

Lovely comfortable hotel with a country Manor atmosphere. Staff friendly and helpful. My room and en-suite were very spacious and well supplied with tea & coffee. The hotel bar & restaurant were pleasant with an interesting menu.
I was disappointed with the restricted use of the spa facilities and had thought there was a swimming pool, but it is instead a very large jacuzzi pool. You can only use the facility once during your stay for a max of 3 consecutive hours. I would have preferred up to one hour a day for my two night stay.

Hotel Bar and seating area was cosy with a real fire on (I stayed mid February). Main restaurant is a good size and nicely furnished. Staff were good, my room was a good sized double and had everything I needed for a 3 night stay. I tried the Garden Spa on the 3rd evening - I was initially refused entry because they had the max of 10 people in the jacuzzi, but after making a bit of a fuss saying that it was my last night and I just wanted a quick chill out before dinner, I was given a robe, slippers and key for the digital lockers. The jacuzzi was lovely, its enclosed by garden walls so is very private, with seating/tables and loungers around it. As it was February the water was lovely and warm I didn't sit outside but I imagine it would be nice in the summer - there is also a bar in the spa reception. I didn't have any treatments or use the gym, just wanted the chance to relax and switch off on my last evening.
As a solo female traveller on business, I am used to eating alone in 5* and fine dining restaurants all around the world, and disappointingly despite the restaurant being virtually empty, I was seated at the very end of the restaurant in a separate section which i think is where they set up the hot plates for breakfast..? It's a pet hate of mine that restaurant staff assume that people dining alone must be seated out of sight of everyone else, but I'd had a long drive and was hungry so didn't want to make a fuss. The roman blind in Room 19 broke as soon as I pulled it down, so I had to use some of the bed cushions to block out the street lighting coming through the bottom of the blind. The blind was fixed quite quickly after I told reception.

Very good management . Very welcoming and attentive. Don’t know her name….
Various house keeping issues. Room 16. Blind not working in bedroom. Radiator in bathroom needs bleeding. Toilet runs most of time. Bedside table not in place. Reception team helped immediately on our arrival and housekeeping attended to various issues next day. Lift not working. Soap dispenser impossibly far from basin. Waterfall shower only. Never good for most women. We travel widely and have long history of hotel/ hospitality ownership

This is a property with a lot of character in the main building and spa, lovely grounds and orangery. The spa pool was a perfect temperature and made for a great morning even when raining! The food in the restaurant was good, particular highlights were the pate starter and the lamb main, the wine selection isn’t vast but is very reasonably priced. Lee is a star in the restaurant and bar.
We stayed in room 6 for our first night and whilst the decor and room facilities were great, unfortunately it’s right over the main entrance and you can actually feel the bed move when the front door slams, this wouldn’t be so bad if there wasn’t a wedding party going on until 02:00 on the first night of our stay. Fortunately the staff were wonderful and moved us to a quieter room for our second night.

The room was quiet clean and comfortable. The double bed was enormous! There was a classy bathroom with freestanding oval bath and shower and very nice toiletries. 3 hours free use of the spa facilities which comprised outdoor hot pool steam room sauna showers etc. Amazingly good value for the price.
no usb charging socket for phone. Poor data reception in room and I think no wifi but we only stayed one night so didn't ask about it at reception and not a serious problem for us. Confusing and tight entrance/exit for cars at traffic lights on adjacent road. Alright once you figure out what's going on.

A good choice of food for breakfast but it was all fried and not grilled although I realised after I could have asked for poached eggs. Room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Lighting for makeup was too dim and plugs for eg hairdryer to be next to a mirror were where the kettle was and again only dim lighting in that area. Although room didn’t have a view the hotel is located in nice grounds and surroundings.
Tiny reception area in a through corridor does not work when lots of wedding guests and people trying to check in.
