Owner 's welcome greeting was not friendly He seemed irratated He granted a early check in on the phone the looked aggitated about our arrival Gave no info about the hotel and room . Bath taps could be better for a superior room A shower head mixer tap would be great added to the bath The coffee station was uncomfortable Tray on wood countertop would be handy to protect the wood Small dish for used teabags was missed 2 small milk sachets not enough for 2 large cups of coffee and ample teabags Information sheet in room would be handy One towel pp leaves nothing for wet hair. Jug with water to fill kettle would be handy

We were greeted by staff as we were getting out of our car. It made us feel very special. The room was spotlessly clean, and the twin bed was very comfortable. Nice touch in the room was the kettle, tea and coffee and rusks. Also, chocolates on the pillows. The room was cool while outside it was 34 C. I loved my mountain view. I appreciated it more than the pool view.

The bathroom basin taps aren't mixer taps, so you either have very hot water or cold water in the basin. But I noticed that the taps have levers, so they are disabled people friendly.

The location is in the centre of the small town so is very convenient. The breakfast was excellent and the owner provided excellent personal service. Secure parking.

There were insufficient convenient electric sockets in our room and so, although a kettle was provided, we had to place it on the floor to use it. There was a minor issue with the plumbing which we overcame without reference to the owner. The shower area could be better - we were concerned we might slip when getting out.

I had an absolutely perfect stay with nothing to fault. Chloe, one of the staff members, was an absolute gem who went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. The breakfast was simply amazing, exceeding all expectations. The owner was delightful, and the bed was the most comfortable I've ever experienced. The interior of the place is beautifully designed, and the location couldn't have been more convenient. Overall, it was an outstanding experience, and I couldn't recommend it more highly.

What a fantastic find this was. Amazing value and so homely with beautiful large rooms, decor and furnishings. Such attention to detail and nice touches. Breakfast and dinner both really good and they kindly catered for us despite our late arrival. Walked around tiny Barrydale, and there are quite a few retro shops and a lovely huge church. Would definitely stay again. No air conditioning but can very effective and quiet.

Loved everything about this hotel. Excellent breakfast, food overall very good. All the staff and owner so friendly and helpfull. Excellent value for money. Beautifully decorated and very neat and clean.

Can't actually complain about anything. We loved this place. Maybe a bigger wine list if I have to say anything - however we enjoyed the wine that we had but always nice to try out all the local wines.

The location was good with easy parking. It is a nice slightly quirky hotel.

Nothing about the hotel itself. Only negative was that our meal in the restaurant which was tasty was spoilt by a group of very rowdy men who were so loud we left part way through our meal. The two waitresses were very pleasant but clearly not able to deal with the inappropriate noise level.

Management and staff were friendly and helpful. I said that the property did not meet my expectations this was not Eugene’s fault, booking dot.com gave us the wrong information. After getting over our disappointment we enjoyed our stay. I have sent and email to Booking .com

The location was good and there is plenty to do in the town during the day. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. We had a good breakfast prior to setting out. The room was nice and spacious and the bed was very comfortable.

We had nothing major to complain about. It was a nice stop for a one or two night stay and the hosts were very friendly and helpful.

The new owners have put their personal stamp on the revamped lodge. Anything from breakfast, "koek en koffie", to dinner can be enjoyed on the stoep, Garage Cafe or more formal inside restaurant with a nice warm fire. The room greeted us with a king size bed , crisp white linen, an electric blanket for the cold nights, complimentary water, a sip of sherry.
