I loved the aesthetic of the place and facilities found in the resort

They need to install heaters and air conditioners not all can stand fireplaces . Change blankets too.

Exception service from the day we checked in Mbali was amazing and welcoming. I got injured whilst hiking on Christmas morning and the guard at the gate called for First Aid and they were waiting for me. Shirley and Steve were phenomenal. I was rushed to Busamed Harrismith. Upon my arrival Mbali made plans to organise me a better chalet that is easily accessible with a wheelchair. Thank you to MaNdaba (housekeeping) for making sure that we get great service.

I have nothing to complain about

Beautiful location and resort with lots of amenities for adults and kids. We enjoyed the flexibility to prepare some of our own meals, but to also enjoy meals at the restaurant. The food and service were really good.

When we checked in, we were told we hadn't paid and they insisted on payment before checking us in, although we paid in full the day we made the reservation, six months in advance. At the time of our reservation, we requested a specific chalet which we were told was confirmed, but that was not available when we arrived. After working through these two issues we had a really good holiday and the service and amenities were excellent service.

The service and staff at the front desk (especially Ms Mbali), the service in the store, the staff in the kids club like Rashid, the entertainment manager (Mr Qarrim), the bar tenders, the restaurant staff, Vusi with the horse riding and the spa employees made our 2nd last week in South Africa so warm, welcoming and beautiful. The activities for the kids were great, the Sangrias are a must try at Muzo’s restaurant at the Alpine Village and the hikes are beautiful, well marked and family friendly. Thank you!

We would have liked halal food options in the evening buffet or on the menu. However we were able to bring our own meat to braai/ barbecue.

The resort as a whole is very nice. Caters for kids. It is evident that effort is being made to revamp and increase the experience. The rooms were cleaned up and daily. Pleasant staff. My only gripe was dinner at the restaurant. The pizza was amazing and food was good. The food order came in pieces, my daughters pizza took longer then our food. It felt like we were forgotten. Other then that everything else was really good and we will be back.

Dinner at the restaurant. Food was good. Service was poor and kitchen timing was very bad. Wife got her ribs first. Then 30min later two small pizzas arrive and then 15min later my pizza. We didn't get to eat as a family as food was getting cold.

Everything about this place was amazing. The service and welcome when you check-in. Always willing to attend to your queries when you call reception with regards to minor glitches in your unit. They are always ready to come help. They have daily schedule of activities for both kids and adults to make you look forward to in ensuring you don't just remain couped in your unit. Oh I loved this place. I would go back again and again.

Only that the unit we were allocated to had issues with plugs tripping on the DB board every now and then but they were always ready to come and assist with the problem.

We had the best view, no other chalets in front of us...we could hear the river. Very private, beautiful!! Lovely apartment with everything you need, from kitchen to bedroom. Great hiking trails that lead to a hidden waterfall, beautiful! Complimentary massage upon arrival was a royal treat!!! Will definitely be back for another visit! For those going there soon....Do yourself a favour and order a Lamb Curry from the restaurant...yum!!

Would have loved some Spa specials...treatments a little pricey. Shop at the resort also a wee bit pricey with some items especially items you may want to take as a souvenirs.

Everything was great.

No electric blankets. I believe I was lied a few times by the staff. Housekeeping states there were electric blankets but the reception staff said no. I was promised the blankets from Housekeeping a few days but than it was another story. My family was also looking forward to the electric blankets. This is an annual holiday for my family to Alpine Heath and all of them were so excited for this feature as all previous years we had it with no issues. This year, they were disappointed that we did not get it.

The location is awesome, hikes were excellent and the horseriding was amazing. The availability of bikes, rackets, bats and the free mini-golf was really great for the kids. The chalets were well equipped and the housekeeping daily was welcomed.

The room was not well prepared for our check-in, the bin was not emptied and the safe was locked and not resolved until we left. The wifi was poor in the shop which meant that there was always a queue and a wait when going to get anything. The shop could be better stocked with fresh milk and freshly baked goods.

The views of the mountains from the resort itself was amazing. The food and coffee was great. Very good activities for kids.

The information on the hiking trails was poorly documented. We found out the hard way that the description on the info page and the map arrows were reversed, so it was really confusing. Due to this I didn't even end up doing the full Yellowood Trail, as after 40 mins of trying, I ended up at my starting point again. While doing the Cascades trail with my son (which we ended up doing in reverse due to the poorly marked map), we came across another family who also experienced issues with the map.
