Winery location was spectacular. The grounds peaceful, beautiful and plenty of flowers and paths to enjoy. The lake and surroundings divine. Our suite quite nice and well equipped. Staff extremely helpful, attentive and customer service oriented. The food at the restaurant beautifully presented and of excellent quality. The wine tasting informational and fun with a passionate sommelier. We also enjoyed the art exposed around the property supporting local artists.

Some areas of the property could use some maintenance and repair (ie, walls needing painting, etc.). The water “feature” around the restaurant is extremely loud sometimes making dinner and/or conversations way too loud. I wish the water noise could be tone down. We bought art to take with us internationally and despite promises and assurances, the packaging was absurdly inappropriate which earns the general manager an appreciation of either lazy or very incompetent, not only for this delivery but also for how our interactions were handled during our stay.

Breakfast was superb - service excellent - ambience perfect - view phenomal Room great - only challenge was the very slow drainage of basins and one of the basin plugs getting stuck. Room - pillows very exceptionally soft and flat. We did ask for "better pillows" on night 2 of our stay. This was probably my 5th stay at ASARA over the last few years - it is clear that there's been a drastic improvement in the "complete operation", attention to detail, level of service and look and feel of/at ASARA. Congratulations!!!

Absolutely nothing

Beautiful property - takes you away from the daily hustle and bustle. Being from the city, just walking around on the property was joy. Good food and service. Happy with the rooms provided. Asara is about 15 minutes drive from Stellenbosch town center. Another option is to visit the Lavendar fields - approx. 5 minutes drive from the property

The only criticism would be the limited dinner options on the menu.

The hotel has exceptional views, very good breakfast, and excellent staff. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. Loved walking around the hotel and dining here.

The access to the reception and rooms is via a flight of 10-odd stairs. It would be nice if they could make the hotel more accessible. There is a possibility of adding ramps to the reception and restaurant from the courtyard - a much needed requirement for guests with mobility problems.

The friendliness of the staff and the beauty of the surroundings. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, but perhaps extra spare pillows would be helpful

The coffee at breakfast was slow, almost 40 min and the order was mixed up. However, we still enjoyed the meal and the staff.

Absolutely deserving of its 5 Star rating. The check in was amazing, face cloths to wipe your hands and a welcome glass of Asara Wine or juice. The concierge was wonderful, assisting with check in and luggage. The bedroom was wonderful, lovely and comfortable. The food was excellent and we will definitely stop for dinner there again. Breakfast was wonderful too. An excellent stay.

Lovely location. Nice facilities. Some outstanding staff. I don’t normally name check but Calvin was truly outstanding ( wine tasting and food pairing) and Ricardo’s service at breakfast was very good.

Some of carpets and fittings in the room were a little worn/dated. Housekeeping knocking on the door before check out time.

Wonderful resort in great location with fantastic views over the mountains. Our room was very nice, the staff very friendly, quality of food and wine very good, in particular the dinner at Raphaels (fine dining restaurant) was excellent. Try the Red Asara Bordeaux "Tower Bell", what a great wine. On our last day we had a wonderful massage at the Spa. Would always come back and recommend this place to friends.

We were there the week before x-mas and the resort was very emty. Therefore breakfast buffet was not available but everything could be ordered. In the end a little less choice than on a normal buffet. At dinner, we were the last ones in the restaurant at 20.30 and also the bar was closing early. It would have been nice to sit outside in this great surrounding and enjoy the wonderful wine on a warm summer evening even after 21.30.

Beautiful setting with wonderful 360 degree views. Modern and sophisticated has the atmosphere of a spa hotel. Lovely staff and amazing art work The breakfast was exceptional.

There was absolutely nothing to complain about however I feel a more informal Lunch menu could be offered to resident guests as the fine dining menus were wonderful but a little too much for both lunch and dinner as we were staying and had both.

The room was very nice and comfortable. Good shower. Beds were great. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were very helpful and attentive.

The dinner menu at the wine bar was very limited. Not too many options to choose from. I wouldn't have minded a burger for dinner as we had a big lunch but R325 for a burger is ridiculous. We did share the snack platter and that was amazing.
