I already knew and liked this hotel as a stop-off before getting the Santander ferry. I'd forgotten the lovely small touches though- kettles on the stairwell, extremely cute decor, general friendliness.

We stayed for one at Monzon de Compos en-route to the south of Spain. The hotel was undergoing a refurbishment, so was a little noisy with the work being carried out, but to be honest it was during the afternoon (when we arrived) and they had finished by 6 - 7pm. The hotel was absolutely ideal for 'passing through'. Clean and comfortable. We had a lovely supper/dinner provided by the owner (not in the restaurant across the road which I think belongs to the same people). Nothing much at Monzon de Compos - there was a bar just around the corner, but we didn't go there. All in all, excellent value for money and lovely staff.

It was unfortunate that there was work / refurbishment being carried out, but it really didn't bother us. I would imagine it would make the hotel dining area better and increase the footfall. Great place for just passing through - nothing much to see or do in the village.

Beautiful decor, cosy and homely feel. The staff were all wonderful, really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I came down to dinner late and would have understood if they said dinner wasn’t possible. Instead they went out of their way to prepare something for me. I had dinner and breakfast - both cooked in front of me and delicious. My room was fabulous, a HUGE bed! Everything was so clean too. Highly recommended.

We got a nice cheerful welcome from Beatrice. There was use of a kettle and parking right outside with a restaurant opposite. So we had everything we needed. It's great for a 1 night stopover and the bed was comfortable. And we were in Room 101

Everything was fine, but didn't find the restaurant good value like others have said. I was pretty sure the starter we shared said E13 but we were billed 18 for it. It was good but not cheap.

Family run and extremely dog friendly. We stay there twice a year on our way to the ferry at Santander and always receive a warm welcome. The restaurant opposite us also run by the family and the food is excellent. On the evenings that the restaurant isn’t open, dinner is provided in the hotel. The village goes back to Medieval times and is worth a visit in its own right.

We need an overnight stop on our way from the south to the north of Spain. The hotel is well situated with easy access a couple of minutes off the A67 motorway.We stopped overnight earlier in the year and had a very warm welcome. It’s a family run hotel and the owners are hands on and exceptional. It’s also extremely dog friendly which is why we chose it in the first place. The little village if Monzón de Campos is very old and picturesque and well worth a look around.

Nicely furnished, clean, comfortable room in small guest house in small meseta town. Very friendly, helpful and warm-hearted owner. Good breakfast included. Good wifi. Part of the good experience was the restaurant over the road, run by the owner's brother. The owner had warned me she was not around for much of the afternoon, so I asked her to book me into the restaurant. I had an excellent meal there, and the (hotel) owner sought me out when she arrived to give me the key to my room. So I was able to finish my meal, and then stroll over the road to it. All very civilised!

Excellent, warm, helpful staff, lots of relevant information given. Very good food at family restaurant opposite. Free parking that felt safe on street outside. Comfortable beds and rooms. English spoken if needed. Covienient for motorway to Santander, around 2 hour trip.

Very warm welcome from the team , really comfy big bed and so peaceful - no street or road noise even with the window open. Parking was on street but we found a space right outside the hotel. We had an evening meal and breakfast both of which were very tasty and good value.

The welcome on arrival, very handy parking on the road outside. It was beautifully warm, especially considering the temperature went down to -4 overnight. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom well equipped. It was our first time of travelling with our new young Spanish rescue dog, but nothing was too much trouble and the restaurant over the road allowed us to take her with us to eat. The restaurant was excellent too, and reasonably priced.
