This was a rest day stop for us on the Camino and we stayed 2 nights, This was the second Parador we stayed at on our Camino and this Parador hotel was much more of what we expected of a Parador. Our room had some distinctive charm we had hoped for. The hallways and gathering areas had old world decorative elegance and furnishings. The old town location in Pontevedra is nice and safe. We did not choose dinner at this Parador since we wanted an outside of the old town "locals" experience. First night dinner - Semplice. Trattoria Italiana (very nice - 10 minute walk), Second night - Pizzaría NONNA CLARA trattoria (a very nice owner and the pizza was good).

We had breakfast once at this Parador and we thought is was way too expensive for what you get! The front desk staff seemed overworked and sometimes they would get distracted by a phone call (and answer it) leaving us waiting. The front desk staff had very little to say about the local attractions (like they didn't care where we went to sight-see.) We could hear the bar patrons down the street late into the night.

Absolutely stunning historic villa in the most prime location in Pontevedra's old city; there isn't a better choice for history buffs (or Camino de Santiago walkers; it's also right on the Way.) The concierge staff is absolutely lovely! They were warm and welcoming and helped us resolve multiple small things in fluent English and German. Super hospitality. The room was a large suite with full bathtub, sitting room, wardrobe, desk and large bed. Vintage Spanish design with modern touches; everything very clean and proper. I loved the big old iron key to our room; very atmospheric. We slept wonderfully and I really appreciated the antiques and original building features on display; I felt like a medieval countess.

It lacks a little bit in terms of facilities I've found at other Paradores... the bar and restaurant are tiny, there is no spa or wellness, or really anything else. That's fine if you're mostly focused on enjoying the old town (would recommend eating out, lots of great options in the city). Service in the bar was friendly but options very basic (no mixed cocktails for example, and not really a menu of options anywhere so you just sort of need to know what you want and order something simple, like wine.) Service at breakfast was a little disinterested and hard to engage with, but they also offer made to order eggs and bacon if you ask for it (like other paradores). Breakfast selection a bit small and limited.

It was a place of character (and creaking floorboards) The surrounding buildings of Pontevedra were in keeping with the historic ambience. The room was large, the bathroom very good, the bed huge and comfortable.

The hotel was a bit of a maze, and hard to find what you were looking for, or get to where you wanted to go. In the late evening (after 11 p.m.) the noise from TV and guests in a neighbouring bedroom was unacceptably intrusive. Reception was pleasant and quite efficient but overwhelmed by demand for their attention.

wonderful two nights at this Parador. A little bit of luxury during our Camino trip. Beautiful building and very helpful staff. Lots of little areas and space to sit and have some quiet time. Beds really comfortable and what wonderful sheets!

There was nothing that I didn't like. However, by the way of useful feedback - I am leaving this piece of feedback for all the accommodation that we stayed at during the Camino walk. It would have been nice to have had a ‘foot spa’ in the room. Even something as simple as a basin and some ‘bubble bath/foot wash’. Of course we have a shower, but after a full day’s walk, it is nice to be able to ‘soak’ the feet for 10 or 15 mins. This could be done so cheaply, and have a great effect.

I love to stay in Paradors if possible when in Spain so I booked this parador for my Camino walking friends and me. Pontevedra is a great town and this parador is very nicely located to see all the points of interest in town. You can see the history thoughout the hotel. The hotel staff was kind to arrange a taxi ride that would sit and wait for us as we toured the monastery of Xoan de Poio so we could see the huge mosaic mural of the Camino (it was spectacular). We would be walking past the monastery the next day, but it would be closed- so taxiing out and back was our only option. The rooms at the hotel were comfortable.

The hotel is beautiful and immaculately kept. The room and bathroom were spacious and well-equipped. The pillow and bed were comfortable and I liked the sitting area and the small balcony. The room was quiet and had a lovely view of the outdoor cafe and garden. The dining room was attractive and pleasant and the breakfast was fine.

The climate control was not connected in the room and it was too warm for a comfortable night's sleep. Breakfast was served according to the hour one reserved the night before. Various items had to be ordered from the servers but they didn't come to the tables to ask if one wanted anything and did not inform guests of what could be ordered. They were not friendly in their service and seemed put out to take an order. One server scolded a guest during breakfast.

Come for the Parador experience, including a phenomenal restaurant. After our stay in Pontevedra, we are thinking of doing a trip just to a selection of Parador experiences in Spain. This place is a restored 16th century palace and treats you like you're a personal guest of Count Maceda himself. Large room, semi-comfy beds. But mostly the restaurant, which specializes in local cuisine. We couldn't decide on the dishes, so got more than we could eat just to taste. Do not regret this decision one bit. For breakfast make sure to get the CHURROS. Just do it.

This was my second stay at the Parador de Pontevedra while walking the Portuguese Coastal camino. The hotel is historic and a lovely treat for leg weary pilgrims. The room was warm, spacious, and very comfortable, with windows that open to allow fresh air in the room. The location is ideal, not far from the camino, and while located in the historic old town, is only a short walk to cafes, farmacias, supermercados and the newer part of town. I would recommend this as a splurge for pilgrims.

I loved the day staff at the desk. Very clean, professional, helpful, and friendly. Also, the head waiter in the dining room is so good. I loved my stay at the Parador. It was great! The beds were comfortable as well.

The first night I was there, I was put in a room 340, I think was the number. The floor was very squeaky and noisy, more so than in the rest of the hotel. Also, the window was very small and the room was very dark. I asked to be moved the next day, and I was relieved to be put in a much better room, 335, I think. The rooms at the very end of the halls don't seem as nice. I liked my room near the elevator.

Gorgeous facility. I was put in room 340, and there were odd noises in the room at night. I know it's a creaky old place. Seriously, this Paradores is wonderful. I requested a room change to a room with more light, and they have accommodated me. There are 47 rooms available. If you're unhappy with your room request a change. A staff worker here told me the old 'Duena'---the owner--may be a spirit here. Take it with a grain of salt.

Breakfast seemed a bit understaffed, with only one waitress working and working hard, I will add. Otherwise, what's not to like? It's a Paradores!
