The amazing view and beautiful gardens. The large confortable rooms. Visit to the local tea factory and walk to world’s end. Most of all the wonderful staff including Terence, attentive manager and Jakati, the chef who prepared delicious meals every day and presented it with a wide cheerful smile. Thank you so much for your kindness and the unforgettable stay.

This place is just beautiful and full of peace - you will stay between tee fields in an old, charming British styled bungalow. We enjoyed the tour to the tea factory so much and can definitely recommend the breakfast and dinner - the cooking team is amazing!

A really special experience to stay in such a beautiful location with a gorgeous swimming pool, the best food we had throughout our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka, and the most charming hospitality from Terrance and the team. Incredible to see the tea factory. This stay was the highlight of our trip.

We had a wonderful stay in this colonial bungalow where the owner of the tea plantation used to oversee his estate. It therefore feels royal to enjoy the scenery, the tranquility and the sound of the birds and animals with a view on the knuckles mountain range. The hotel is very small-scale with only a few rooms -size xxxl- but has been tastefully preserved with the original decor and atmosphere. Everything breathes the colonial era, which alone provides a special experience. The service and hospitality is of an unprecedented high level, ensuring that you lack nothing during your stay. The food - we invariably opted for the Sinhalese cuisine - was great. Both breakfast and dinner were made into a feast by the very experienced chef. It takes some effort to get there, but given the Sinhalese roads that actually applies to all beautiful places in Sri Lanka. We loved it and recommend it to anyone who, after the hustle and bustle of Sri Lanka, wants to relax in the peace and quiet that Sri Lanka once knew.

The property is almost like a museum with stunning antique furniture and a real glimpse into the way it would have been 150 years back. The service was impeccable. My father and I were the only guests there and we were totally looked after by Akram the manager who even took us himself to the Tea Factory to see it up and running. The facilities pool, and gardens are stunning. The chef is incredible and made us tasty fresh meals that we thoroughly enjoyed. I highly reccomend a visit to this place and look forward to returning some time soon.

This was our second visit to the Hatale Tea Estate Bungalow and was it was enjoyable as the first stay two years earlier. The view is the first thing that immediately impresses you but everything else is equally good. The building has been very well maintained but keeps its old character. Beds very comfortable. We asked for authentic Sri Lankan food and found that very enjoyable. Manager and staff welcoming and attentive. Just a lovely relaxing enjoyable stay. Pool a real bonus for a Tea plantation.

Only downside (although it didn’t bother me) is that you can’t drink alcohol at the accommodation.
