One of the most enchanting places on earth! Nihal took exceptional care of us from the very first moment. Everyone was incredibly friendly, and we felt warmly welcomed. The property, the garden, and the pool are truly magical. We enjoyed lunch and breakfast, and both meals were absolutely delicious. The chef Idika came personally to check in to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. The location is in Kandy, just a five-minute tuk-tuk ride from the city centre. The hotel also kindly offered to drive us back and forth. Overall, a five-star-plus experience.

The place is beautiful. Lovely furnishings, garden, rooms. We took the Tent Suite, which is stunning, and not at all what one expects of a "tent." The breakfast was delicious, with a wide choice of western and Sri Lankan options. The egg hoppers were especially delicious! We had dinner at the hotel on one occasion and ordered the rice and curry - a choice of rice, served with about 10 different curries, all of which were delightful. Finally, every member of staff is friendly and caring. The chef even comes out to talk about his food. And the hotel tortoises are cute too!

Difficult to fault this place, but I would question whether it needs to be quite so expensive. Also, the location is not quite the calm, peaceful backwater that they would have you believe. That said, it is out of the city (LAK 400 ish in a tuktuk) and we weren't disturbed by any noise.

We stayed in the 'Royal Tent' to the side of the main house. It was spacious, well equipped, private, with its own outdoor seating areas. There were only two of us, but the curtained off area with single beds would make it ideal for families as well. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the food excellent. The property is on a ridge and has great outlook in two directions. It is an easy drive to the main sights.

If you need absolute quiet at night, the tent might not be the best place to stay on the property as there is some traffic noise from the roads below as well as the bird song (delightful).

Exceptional service, staff and location. The food is exceptional .. Indika and his team are master chefs! The property is beautiful and well maintained surrounded by amazing wildlife with some of the best views in Kandy. The place is also a peaceful retreat from the bustle of Kandy town but not too far away from anything. The staff are all amazing and went out of their way to help us which made us feel like staying with family ….we can’t wait to return again and stay at this magical place. Thanks to Joel and his team we miss you already!

Nothing everything was perfect.

The bungalow sits atop a hill with a view of a river, hills and forested landscape capturing a picturesque view of Kandy. The morning mist encompasses the bungalow making you feel you're living in the clouds. With an infinity pool and attentive service and a gorgeous property this stay capped my entire Sri Lanka trip. The bungalow is located 15 min drive from the main property but check-in and everything else is handled directly at the bungalow. The rooms are clean and well furnished. Manju (head of housekeeping) took our orders and overall made our stay enjoyable. The food cooked by the private chef was memorable. Would encourage all friends to visit.

There is a shared bathroom for the suites which was not much of a problem for a family stay but is a small "inconvenience" for friends.

Amazing decor and facilities inside a large country house. Very comfortable rooms, excellent service and delicious food made on site. Very friendly staff that go the extra mile to ensure you are comfortable and looked after. The pool is amazing and looks out onto the valley. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Kandy, and is worth travelling to Kandy for!

We were excellently looked after by all of the staff but especially Nihal, Tyronne and Banda who were a regular but not intrusive presence. It felt like having butler service >Breakfast. We were asked what we wanted the night before and at what time. The excellent food then appeared at that exact time, fresh and piping hot. The coconut rotis were amazing! >Room. The biggest and best were have stayed in (the tent). Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom was great. >Pool. Lovely views and a beautiful setting.

Loved the cool entrance hall, the circular pond and the gorgeous view over the pool and Kandy. The garden was very peaceful. The outside eating areas were lovely and cool. The bedroom was very attractive with a large four plaster bed. Soft feather pillows and very comfortable. Lovely view from the room.The amazing chef made us the Sri Lankan Curry which was superb. Nine separate dishes, each one packed with flavour and colours. Breakfast was delicious too with lovely fresh fruit and a delicate Sri Lankan egg dish. Gardens were well cared for and the staff were all very knowledgeable ,friendly, kind and polite. A good idea to put a notice saying to ask for extra toothbrushes, combs etc if one needed them.

The staff at Stables are incredibly attentive and friendly, always ready to assist with a warm smile. Breakfast is a highlight, with a delicious array of local and international options served in a cozy dining area. While it’s a short drive from the main attractions, the serene environment more than makes up for the slight distance. Stables, Kandy, is perfect for those seeking a charming and restful stay.

Had a lovely two nights here- felt that was plenty to see Kandy. The hotel is a short tuc tuc ride from the town by it’s lovely to be out of the noise and pollution of the city. Beautiful sunset over the town. The resident tortoises are a welcome addition. The staff were particularly noteworthy- Tyronne not only cooked amazing food (we had the Sri Lankan set menu one night and it was delicious, although a little too much food!), but he was also available for tuc tuc trips to the city. Lovely pool and very comfortable rooms.
