After 6 nights at D Canal House we felt at home. The vila´s are very big, with all the comfort you can imagine. The beds are very comfy and the whole place is very authentic. We loved the pool in the lush, green garden. Watching the squirrels, birds and even flying peacocks was so relaxing. Amazing if you love nature. The place is in walking distance from the main street, but they also offer a free shuttle to the main road. So you can enjoy a peaceful environment close to the busy town of Mirissa. Staff is amazing with special thanks to Lahiru, Priyankara with the big smile and Milan. They offer great external activities at a great price. Breakfast was also amazing. For surfers, Weligama is only a 15 minute drive away and the perfect surfspot. Don´t doubt to book this place, it´s amazing!

We stayed here for 4 nights as I wanted a special place to celebrate my husband's birthday and it did not disappoint. From the moment we stepped through the gate we were warmly greeted by the staff before being shown around the premises by the informative Lahiru who also aced at organising tuktuks for us. The bungalow was massive and well kitted out with lovely furniture. Even though the property is quite new the forest is well established and it feels like you're in the jungle. We saw peacocks, monkeys and a monitor lizard even paid us a visit. We met the lovely Priya at breakfast and he was always on hand with his friendly smile to help us out whenever we needed anything. A shout out to Milan too who was a wealth of information whenever we asked for tips about the surrounding area. If we ever return to Mirissa I'm sure we'll be staying here again.

Absolutely loved it here Beds are so comfy, rooms are luxurious and spacious Bathrooms were so nice, air con was really good (there were 2 units in our room!) Location is perfect, if you are booking D Canal House, you will know it is outside the main town. However, it is a short 10 minute walk along a beautiful quiet road to the town. And, D Canal offer a free tuktuk service in and out of the town between 10am and 7pm. The staff were so lovely and helpful, they all had really good English.

Because of its location close to a canal, there are more mosquitos. Be aware and bring mozzie spray! Also they don’t provide food except breakfast. But there are so many lovely restaurants in walking or tiktok distance, it’s not an issue. Also they have complimentary tea and coffee all day available.

The property is absolutely beautiful: A tranquil oasis that's incredibly peaceful despite being only a short distance from the main beach/ town. The staff were so helpful and welcoming and even had our room ready 3 hours early for us! They provide a free TukTuk service to/from the house to the beach until 7pm which was super useful. Rooms are wonderfully decorated, clean and comfortable. The real highlight is the pool which is absolute heaven! Really can't recommend this place enough

Really can't think of anything bad to say at all. After travelling around Sri Lanka for 3 weeks, this is one of our favourite places we stayed!!

Everything! The place is wonderful, you are in the middle of the jungle but with all the services and cleaning of a 5 star hotel! Other than that the rooms are huge with big patio or balcony outside to enjoy nature sounds and relax. The staff is amazing they take care of everything. In particular we loved meeting Milan, he is nice, helpful and chatty. We were able to talk with him about Sri Lanka and share points of views, ways of living etc. They give you also free tuktuk rides from the hotel to the center, you don't need to worry about anything. Breakfast is very good and has a lot of choices. We deeply reccomend DCanal! It's a wonderful place!

Wonderful hotel. Second time we stayed howver this time in the main house. Great for those that enjoy the eco tourism vibe. Pathways surrounded by vegetation immersing you in the fauna and flora of Sri Lanka. Room was very nice and the bed super comfortable. Swimming pool is still gorgeous. Breakfast was amazing with plenty of Sri Lankan options as well as fruit options. Some western elements were provided. We arrived earlier than our check-in time but staff were able to let us stay and use facilities until room was ready. Same for check-out. We were able to use facilities (had to leave room though) until our departure. Pick up and drop off from Mirissa train station was available. Perfect place for couples!

We loved the hotel, this is a special place. Beautifully decorated, you have everything you need in the room. The location is lovely near to the canal, down local roads, away from the main bit of Mirissa but only 15mins walk to restaurants and the beach. Free tuk tuks are a great addition and we also booked a morning canal trip which was so nice even in the rain! Breakfast was generous and tasty. Staff were very friendly. We could have stayed longer! Highly recommend 🥰

An nice added extra would be lounge chairs on the balcony.

We stayed here for 3 nights in 2023 and came back for 7 nights this year. Such an exclusive boutique hotel that only has 3 rooms and 3 bungalows. It feels relaxed and homely and all of the staff are so friendly. We had the Sunrise room which does what it says on the tin. You can fling open the doors, listen to the sounds of the birds and watch the sunrise from the comfort of your very comfortable bed. Or you could go and sit on the balcony and watch it! The breakfast is amazing. The buffet style table is filled with Sri Lankan and European delights and you can have eggs and bacon cooked fresh for you. The pool and gardens are delightful. Sitting around the pool is very relaxing and there is free tea/coffee/water/cake to keep you going. It is a 10 minute walk to the main drag which is ‘real Sri Lanka’ or you can get a free tuk-tuk. There are a number of walks from the property that take you even deeper into the Sri Lankan countryside. The only sounds you will hear are of birds, especially the plentiful peacocks. Mirissa beach has lots of shade and the sand is golden and clean. We will definitely stay for another week if we make a third visit to Sri Lanka

Gorgeous property! We stayed in a villa, the garden is exceptional, bed super comfy, breakfast was plenty, pool area very nice and well taken care of. Staff was very helpful, they provide a tuk tuk service to the main road (otherwise it's like a 10 min walk). Location is quiet which was nice for us, there are however some good restaurant and a spa in walking distance. We loved the wild animals on the property and the canal and even took an early morning canal boat tour which we can highly recommend! So much wildlife!

The lighting in the room is a bit dark, which makes it nice and romantic but means that sometimes things can be hard to find without your phone flashlight ;-)

The property is located just a quick walk from the Main Street which is ideal as it is quiet, there is wildlife around and you get to see how Sri Lankans live on your walk home. The small scale of the accommodation means you get personalised service from the most lovely staff, particularly Milan. The pool is lovely.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like but would suggest some large bean bags or cushions be available at the sunny (canal) end of the pool.
