The owners were very kind. We had a room without A/C and just a fan (but you could've booked A/C). With the doors of the balcony open at night it was alright. Mosquito net worked well. There was a nice balcony, a hairdryer, a fridge and a kettle to make youself some tea or coffee. Hotel is located near the turtle beach. There is also a rooftop terrace with a bench and sea view. It's a 5-10 min walk to get to restaurants. You can get water bottles for a fair price at the hotel so you don't have to go to the supermarket for that.

The only downside for us was the smell in the bathroom (I think it's a common thing in Sri Lanka, at least at the places we stayed in). But we also had some hotels with no smell in the bathroom.

Sweet spot just off the main road, so nice and quiet, but close to restaurants, cafes, and the beach. On the first morning, we saw monkeys off the back balcony that faces the treed interior. The owning family was very kind and helpful, and we'd happily stay here again. We recommend it!

All was well

Place was only a 2-minute walk from the main road but it was very quiet. Bed was comfortable, wifi worked well. I liked having a balcony and being able to watch the sunset over the ocean from the rooftop terrace. Room was cleaned when requested. Host found me a good price for transport to my next town and also helped with tuk tuk transport to local restaurants. All staff were very nice.

The breakfast was not cooked fresh but served lukewarm and coffee was instant coffee.

We stayed 9 nights and we got a room at the second floor with balcony. So nice. It s a family run place. Very homely. I loved the location. So quiet. Very near the beach and turtle beach ( yes we got to swim every day with turtles). Owner organised a scooter for us and taxi back to airport.

Dylan and his staff were totally lovely and went out of their way to make sure we felt welcomed and had everything we needed! Spotless room and thoughtful facilities including fridge and use of kitchen area, and very comfortable. Beautiful views from the rooftop! There was no air con but a fan over both beds which we prefer. Thank you Dylan!

Friendly family running hotel, best breakfast We had so far in Sri Lanka, quiet location, Nice family room.

Only hot water in the afternoon, and the aircondition did not quite fit the room size. But this is small issues compared to, how much We liked our stay!

I really like the convenience of the location. The bus stopped and the accomadation was just off the main road. Several restaurants nearby. Coconut hill nearby very scenic and friendly fisherman on the beach. This is family run business and a lovely couple who are caring and friendly. Highly recommend and would stay here again

Excellent location of the hotel, incredibly friendly atmosphere! the owner of the hotel is very attentive to all guests and always comes to the rescue in any situation! this is a family business - and the whole family is very attentive to the guests and very friendly! we liked the breakfasts that were prepared with love ❤️! clean and comfortable rooms with air conditioning, regular cleaning! we felt at home - and this is the merit of Dylan! We highly recommend this hotel and we dream to visit Dylan's family again

We highly recommend village star rest. Super great hospitality, the owner Dylan and his family were super friendly and helpful, the breakfast was one of the best on our trip. During our Sri Lanka trip we stayed in different accomodations (hotels, villas, guest houses, resorts, etc.) and Village Star Rest was one of the best. It's super close to the beach and restaurants and the view from the rooftop is amazing. If you get up early you can enjoy the sunrise and if you get lucky you can see all kinds of animals (monkeys, peacocks, etc.). The room was well equiped with AC, mosquito net, hair dryer and balcony. We planned to stay two nights but extended two more because we liked it so much. Laundry service is also great and very affordable. If you are undecided between Weligama and Mirissa we highly recommend Mirissa because the beaches are much nicer. PS: If you need a driver, Dylan can organize something. We went to Tissa after our stay and it was also one of the best drivers we had.

We had a nice stay at the hotel. The owners are very kind and attentive. They really tried to meet all our needs. The location is perfect, just a few minutes walk from the beach.
