Paradise. The location is magnificent. It’s true that it’s pricey and a few things need attention, but management is fantastic and aware. Staff are really lovely. The beach is phenomenal and rooms very comfortable. In comparison to what you get for what you pay in Pasikuda it’s worth it. Loved how exclusive it felt. We didn’t want to leave.

My one gripe and is how they charge for food and drinks. Prices are quoted in US$, converted to rupees when you sign, then converted back to US$ when you pay. Plus an extra 30% added on in taxes and service. Nowhere else in Sri Lanka we were did this, and it’s hard to see it as anything other than exploitative. 10% service is pretty standard, but the bill ends up being a third more and I think this should be made clear.

Amazing invaluable grounds, friendly and adorable staff, very good quality food, spacious and luxurious beach huts.

Owners could help the local community and the tourists by investing in the road leading up to the property which is long and extremely bumpy. Restaurant organisation needs some fine tuning (experienced staff?) but I’m sure it will get better over the season.

The pool area needs updating. The sun loungers are old and dirty. Some are broken too. This wasn’t appealing to the eye.

Stunning place - a true spot in paradise. Enormous pool with nice lounge music located right next to the bar and lounge area. Spectacular views of beach and sea. Great villas/tenthouses. We had our own spot on the beach with amazing views of beach and sea. Very spacious rooms, we stayed 2 adults and 2 children (5 and 7) in a palam suite, with an extra bed for one child and a sofa bed for the other. Plenty of space for us. Great food - but everything is pricey compared to other places in Sri Lanka, however, also luxurious. Breakfast was generous and very good. Good activities also, we did the cinema under the stars and the children loved it. The place itself is beautiful, the beach is beautiful, the sea is calm and clear waters. You could see the local fishermen at the beach in mornings and afternoons.

Generally, the service in the restaurant was slow and a bit messy. A lot of things got lost in translation or mixed up. Breakfast with 2 smaller children can be a bit challenging when waiting and waiting for the food (and to be honest, Coco pops should be fairly easy to serve quickly). A.lot of birds around the restaurant, you couldn't leave the table for just 5 seconds without a bird being there to take food.

Absolutely amazing place. Stunning location, far from any civilisation. Only sounds of nature around. Beautiful, several kms long beach. Extremely tastefully designed - elegant yet not flashy. Impeccable service at all levels, delivered by genuinely friendly people. One of us caught an infection and the GM personally made all the medical arrangements, at their expense. All in all 100% recommended for all who enjoy classy luxury amidst stunning nature. All that at a cost of a 3* stay in peak season Mediterranean.

One would really have to nit pick to find any issues. Some 5am birds are quite loud - a nice problem to have :-)

I discovered this hotel through Instagram and was initially skeptical, as photos can sometimes be misleading. However, after reading several positive reviews, I decided to take a chance and booked us for a two-night stay at the Palam Suites. Despite being pregnant and facing a six-hour drive from Colombo, we took the plunge, and I'm so glad we did. The drive was long, but the moment we arrived, we knew it was worth it. The view and location were stunning, and the hotel's commitment to sustainability and the glamping concept was impressive. The beach is right outside your suite, making it a perfect getaway. We wanted to extend our stay, but the hotel was fully booked, which speaks volumes about its popularity. From the manager to our butler, Nirfas, everyone ensured our every request was met. We would definitely return again.

The food and cocktails were inconsistent and often took a long time to prepare. However on average they were delicious and great value. The music was too loud and felt like it belonged inside at an ibiza beach club. More acoustic, wholesome music during the day would match the vibe of the place more. The lighting in the dining and bar area was so dark. People with visual impairments found it difficult to see in the evening.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Karpaha Sands, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. Nestled along a pristine, unspoiled stretch of beach, this property truly feels like a hidden paradise. The white sandy beaches and turquoise waters create the perfect backdrop for relaxation and tranquillity. The accommodation is thoughtfully designed, blending luxury with eco-consciousness. The spacious tents are beautifully decorated with an artistic touch, offering all the modern comforts while keeping you close to nature. Falling asleep to the sound of waves was an absolute highlight. The restaurant was exceptional, serving up a mix of local Sri Lankan cuisine and international favourites. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavour and crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The seafood, in particular, was a standout! Breakfast was another highlight of our stay—imagine enjoying a perfectly brewed cup of coffee alongside a delightful spread of tropical fruits, freshly baked pastries, and made-to-order hot dishes, all while soaking in stunning views of the ocean. If you're looking for a serene getaway where luxury meets nature, I can't recommend Karpaha Sands enough. It’s a place where time slows down, and every moment feels magical. We can’t wait to return! Had a wonderful stay at Karpaha Sands from start to finish. The hotel is beautifully set on a quiet remote beach, safari style tent accommodation is comfortable and stylish, and the staff were all extremely attentive, friendly, and hospitable. Just like the pictures online, paradise on Sri Lanka’s East Coast. Our butler Banda went above and beyond to make us comfortable, and a special a shout out to Kumari for the wonderful three-day Ayurvedic spa treatments. Reasonably priced and highly recommended. Food was also excellent and aside from a couple of meals, we ate at the hotel restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lots of options available, from local favourites, to Italian seafood dishes, to BBQ private dining experiences. Lastly, access really isn’t as bad as some other reviews make out. Yes, the 2km track off the main road is a little bumpy in places but our driver had no problems, and getting around the local area by TukTuk is easily arranged.

This is a quality establishment (managed by an Italian who used to run resorts in the Maldives). It has a wonderful vibe. For us, one of the main appeals was that it's remote. You walk on to the beach, look left and right, and all you can see is beach, palm trees, and some fishermen's boats. No other resorts. No other tourists. You literally have a 15km stretch of beach to share with a small group of people staying at Karpaha Sands. It surely won't stay like that for ever, so go now before a bunch of other resorts open along the beachfront. We bought a football before arriving at the hotel and our son ended up playing football on the beach with the local kids; a memorable experience for us all. This is a place to relax for a few days. There isn't really anywhere to go nearby, so you are kind of stuck there, but thankfully it's a great place to be stuck and the food menu is extensive so you could easily stay a week or two without getting bored of the menu.
