The hotel is situated in the very centre of Stone Town, you wouldn‘t wish for a better location. It is not directly on the beach but both walking to the beach and to numerous restaurants and cafes is just matter of couple of minutes. The hotel itself is in oriental style that gives it some special charm. The restaurant is on the roof which is not so high but the views make you feel like in the 18th century, which we found interesting. The staff is very friendly but they do not always address to the mentioned problems. One can feel a bit of lack of professionalism in the sphere but because they are all nice young people, it is not a big problem, one can always improve themselves:) The breakfast was good, not very different from the breakfast in other hotels on the island. As usual you get fruit and then can choose from salty and sweet options of breakfast. The room was very small but in fact there was enough space for our stuff and clothes, and you have everything you usually need in hotels, the bed was big and good but it takes most of the space in the room, so do not expect moving around much in the room because there is not much room:)) The bathroom was not small and I would call it comfortable what refers to the facilities, but we could not get hot water even though we turned the switch on and waited for a really long time, so we had to shower with cold water every day and though we told the staff about it, it was not fixed (either not possible or forgotten). The shower heads (both the big and the small ones) were very old and even rusty, the small hand shower was not functioning at all, so we had to use the big one and make our hair wet even when we did not want it. The shower switch remained in my hand the very first time I tried to turn it on, and I barely touched it.

As I mentioned above - you should take care of the bathroom stuff or renew them so that it will be possible to shower properly. (I will attach photos so that you understand what I mean).

They organized a taxi from the airport, were very friendly. Hotel its located in the center of Stone town. We loved the view on the terrace during the breakfast.

The bathroom was a litte bit outdated and the toilet was broken. But the staff was very helpfull and kind to organize a quick repairment.

Location was perfect, close to Fordani Park and other resturants as well as shops. The staff were very friendly and always provided help in a friendly and professional manner.

Breakfast was included, however there wasn't a buffet style breakfast, everything had to be ordered and the menu was somewhat limited, saying that, whatever we ordered didn't take long to make and it was scrumptious.

Central location in the middle of Stonetown, clean room, nice housekeeping, exceptional breakfast.

Not sure if charging extra 5% for visa payment is usual practice for every Stonetown hotel or just for me here like extra welcome. Anyway, in the end, hakuna matata.

Logely.place as ever with obliging staff..bushbabies rushing round the roof at night

I felt there had been a dow turn in management attention to the place. No drink on arrival, no bedside light in my room. Someone needs to manage the place to make sure it dies not get capitulated by the competition.

The hotel and room had beautiful carved wood throughout. Breakfast was served on the rooftop, which was lovely. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring Stone town and was a short walk from the beach, shops, restaurants, and the promenade. The staff was incredibly helpful. They arranged excursions and taxis for us. They let us into us into our room early and arranged for a quick breakfast (at a reduced rate) so we could make our walking tour in time. On the last day, they stored our luggage because we were not leaving until later in the day. Whatever we needed, they were ready to provide with enthusiasm. We were able to pay by credit card.

Excellent location to walk around and explore Stone Town. We appreciated the comfortable beds, the small fridge and the satisfying breakfast (salty options were limited, tough). Staff in general was kind, provided information also ahead of our arrival and was always there to help.

The room was small and extremely humid, and the air conditioning was not functioning properly. The staff tried to fix the problem, but we were told that the technician would pass by the day of our departure... We finally left with our clothes wet or extremely humid (at best), also because hanging them on the terrace of the top floor (a nice-to-have, indeed) didn't help.

Our first stay on Zanzibar, Tanzania and Africa and it was a great hotel for this. The staff from the guys on the front desk, security guard, cleaners and breakfast staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. They recommended places to eat and sorted us a sort notice trip to prison island (was really nice to visit here late in the day). The hotel has a great location close to tourist attractions and the 6° restaurant who you must eat at. Room was good with air con, TV and mosquito net.

The bathroom could do with updating but rest of the room was good. Would not put me off staying again.

Quirky old building in the centre of Stone Town with walking distance to everything you need to see and experience.

With it being an old building also comes the challenge with air flow and regulation. The room was either too hot and humid or too cold with AC on. I did not sleep very well and a working extraction fan in the bathroom could have helped the humidity problem.
