If you want to pay with card in hotel you have to pay 3% card ayment tax. Ad it is not mentioned anywhere.

The staff was incredibly polite and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile. The room was cleaned daily, ensuring a spotless and comfortable stay. For me personally, the location is excellent, right in the heart of the old town. It’s perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in the local culture, experience real life, and see how the locals live. Highly recommended!

Nothing major, but the breakfast could use some improvement! Adding more savory options, like salami and toasted bread, would be a nice extra touch. Also, although the room was on the 3rd floor, there was noticeable noise, which suggests the soundproofing wasn’t very effective.

Very nice Boutique hotel at a good location to explore Stone Town. The owner was very friendly and also organized breakfast although we had to leave before the official breakfast time. The hotel itself was clean and very interesting from the decoration. Very good Wifi. We liked it a lot.

Maybe our room was bit unlucky, but the mattress was very saggy, it needs to change. Also the bed itself was very loud, even when you just turned from one side to the other… Small note: when you shower, you float almost the hole bathroom. It would be helpfull maybe to built in a glass wall for separation.

The hotel is an oasis of tranquility in the bustling heart of Stone Town. It’s the perfect place to stay to give you easy access to everything the area has to offer. It’s small, but very well presented, with traditional decor, heavy wooden furniture and doors, but with air-con and ceiling fans in all the right places. Breakfast is excellent with a wide range of local and traditional fare, fruits, juices, teas and coffee. Bianca and her team will do anything to make your stay more enjoyable. I cannot rate Shaba Boutique Hotel highly enough and would recommend anyone planning to visit Zanzibar to stay there.

We enjoyed everything about our short stay at Shaba. Most importantly, the staff were incredibly kid and helpful- we had a mix up at booking (my fault) and they worked hard to find solutions. We also liked that the hotel was in an area of Stone Town that while convenient to everything, was a little away from the more tourist area so felt more authentic, (more real, less shiny perfect picturesque). The rooms were beautiful and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, and we enjoyed sitting on the street outside the hotel with coffee and watching the street life of Stone Town.

It would be nice if there was a rooftop. Because it's in a tight part of the city, the balconies did not look out on anything but tin roofs (at least our room- I think some rooms have nice balconies).

As I was working in Stone Town, the location was very ideal for me. This place is very well maintained, feels safe and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

First time in Stone Town doesn't prepare you for the maze you encounter trying to find this place. But after a day or two you get your bearings. Everything is a maze, the property itself has several layers. But this all adds to the experience which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The only small complaint I had was the hot shower outlet tap needs maintenance and the mattresses could've been better, but everything else was ideal.

A great warm welcome from everyone, proximity to the ferry port and beach, very comfortable bed, hot shower, fast and stable Wifi, tasty breakfast buffet and the friendliness of everyone. The room and bathroom is big and spacious. The hotel is in a traditional building with original features. The stairway is steep but the staff will help you with your luggage. They can arrange transportation between Zanzibar at a reasonable price. Very good value for money. A special thank you to Ally and the breakfast team who answered any questions I had without hesitation and always with a smile. A home away from home! 10/10 service and stay. Thank you!

Amazing value for the price. Has a gorgeous boutique atmosphere, kind of like a mystery house. Water dispenser available on each floor corridor with a selection of teas as well which was a great added bonus — it can be very annoying having to buy bottled waters from local shops to have in your room so this small touch made a huge difference. Staff were professional and friendly and the breakfast display was very nice. Really beautiful antique decorations all over the hotel which makes you want to spend a lot of down time there!

Amazing little hotel, an oasis right in the center of Stone Town. The staff is the most welcoming we've had in our month of stay in Tanzania (thanks Hamid and Bianca!). The AC in the rooms works well (very important, Stone Town is very hot and humid). The rooms are well styled and laid out, yet still authentic to the character of the place. We travelled around Zanzibar so we returned here, ended up staying in three different rooms, all were of the same quality. The breakfast is great and they have several potato "croquettes" which were very good. All the amenities of Stone Town are a short walk away, including very good restaurants. The place is guarded at night and there is a backup generator which also powers the AC. The staff is still the highlight though, very friendly and helpful, they did our laundry at no extra charge, arranged transport for us, etc.!

The breakfast place has fans and no AC so it's a bit hot, however we understand that they are addressing that in the low season, so you will not encounter this issue when you stay. Very highly recommended!

1- Manager Hamed was amazing! Best customer service. He made sure all our requests were met. He was very accommodating and professional. 2- Breakfast was excellent. Lots of options 3- Hotel is right in the centre of town (behind Darajani bazaar) so it was very convenient for us when it came to shopping 4- Price per night is fair and reasonable considering what I mentioned above, plus cool AC in the room. Hot water in the washroom with shower gel, shampoo, etc Definetly coming back to this boutique hotel!

It's not a bad thing per say but the location can get confusing at first if you're new to Zanzibar. But the people there are so kind and helpful in directing you. After the first night it was easy to find the place. I love the people of Zanzibar!
