Staff were all lovely. Very accommodating from start to finish. Nothing too much trouble- Food great, Lovely Staff Thank you! Eggs Benedict spot on ! Fresh bakery Toast was lovely!

Room decor Just a bit tired. Nothing serious at all, bathroom just needs perhaps a lick of paint/update. Bath I thought had loads of hairs in at first glance, i blamed my husband for having a shave in there lol and not washing them away..... But they were scratches when I took a closer look. Everything works nice hot shower. Hair dryer Room 1 needs replacing. lose wire? Borrowed Hairdryer from next doors room to solve the problem.

The Staff were exceptionally pleasant. The breakfast was really good and the the amount served was spot on. Dinner and the carvery really lived up to its reputation. Our room was bright and airy with a view looking across the Shropshire countryside.

This happens wherever you stay from self catering cottages to hotels, they are all guilty. The Duvet!! if it had been mid winter all well and good, but July the duvet was too hot. You have a summer duvet and a winter duvet at home so why is this not done in the hotel trade etc?

Our room was large and comfortable. We ate on the first night in the bar. The food was hot, plentiful and reasonably priced. There was a hearty breakfast on offer. The Down Inn is located a short distance outside of Bridgnorth and is a great base for exploring the local area. We would definitely stay again and recommend.

The rooms were very hot. I turned the radiator in the bedroom off and opened the window's but there is a large kitchen below, I believe. The restaurant was hot also. The staff are lovely, but we were asked several times if we would like a dessert. We just wanted a little rest and even when mentioning to the waitress that we would let them know. They continued to ask. They were still serving food so I wasn't sure what the great rush was.

Stayed here overnight last night ,we were early to book in but that was not a problem for the management who arranged for our room to be made up 1st we said we would have a drink while we waited . They were fully booked for food but we were offered a table that was going to be passed by with customers queuing for the carvery we said we did not mind as they were doing us a favour . We sat down to one of the best carvery’s I’ve had it was hot & the food was fabulous quality & so much choice and the portions were massive it set us up for the day . After a drink at the bar we were shown to our room , lovely & warm well laid out so spacious the bathroom had bath & shower with added extras of toiletries the bed was amazing & comfortable great night sleep . We had breakfast a great choice & again the best ingredients high quality cooked to perfection . The staff were amazing friendly & well organised helpful & polite all round a fab stay 100% worth every penny thank you so much & keep up the good work we will be back 🙏❤️

An older building with modern extensions. Multi room dinning area with easy access to the bedrooms via a staircase. Small parking area to one side and a large parking area to the rear with easy access to the bedrooms via an external stairway. The whole building feels comfortable and seems to flow from one area to another. Staff are great and attentive.

Our only gripe on this visit was the shower (shower over bath). Whilst the shower delivered water, we were unable to adjust the height or control the direction of the shower head and resorted to holding the shower head. The bath was slippery once wet and could benefit from some stick on anti slip pads but then anyone taking a bath would have their backside pull in different directions by these pads so maybe a anti slip mat would help.

We were very impressed with our whole stay at The Down. It was a last minute booking and we were very pleased to find such a comfortable, welcoming place after a long journey. The facilities were exactly as advertised with a good bathroom, a comfy bed and a much appreciated hospitality tray.The staff were friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our evening meal was tasty and well cooked with a good selection to choose from and very well priced. The same applies to the breakfast which was included in the price of the room, making our stay not only restful but also exceptionally good value for money.

Nothing I can think of

Country inn situated in open countryside between Bridgnorth and Ludlow, car essential. Spacious room, well furnished with stunning view across open countryside, plenty of parking but busy at weekend. Excellent full English breakfast included and super king bed. Restaurant with wide selection and outstanding carvery available every day, all well prepared and competitive prices.

Minor grumble: a second easy chair in room would have been welcome as no other seating area outside of restaurant/bar

food both breakfast and the carvery were very good , drink prices were reasonable , the room was even better than expected , staff were always helpful and friendly , an all round pleasant stay

for a stranger to the area you had to be a bit careful on the road to the Down Inn from Brignorth , a few unexpected larger vehicles that came towards us on some very narrow twists and turns on this road , all fine of course if you are local and get to know the road

Check in was easy, all the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The room was spacious and clean with a good-sized desk, the en-suite bathroom was roomy and the bath and shower worked well. The free WiFi was good with no need to log in or supply an email address. Plenty of car parking, and breakfast was good, not great.

I had an evening meal on both days of my stay. The main feature was a carvery with beef, pork and turkey roasts, which were very popular. I tried the beef, which was too well done for my liking. On the positive side I could help myself to a wide variety of vegetables. Traditional puddings were good. On day 2 I tried the fish and chips, and this was disappointing; the chips were fine but the batter was soggy.

The Down Inn is in a fantastic rural location, and is a great base for visiting further afield. Bridgnorth, the Severn Valley Railway, Ludlow and RAF Cosford are all a short drive away. This was our second visit to the Down, the rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and spotlessly clean - this time we were in room 1, with a great countryside view, and a beautiful sunrise both mornings of our stay. We ate in the restaurant both evenings, and we can honestly say the carvery is one of the best we've had - so much so we had one each evening of our stay!

The only little quibble would be the pillows, both were very soft - maybe a combination of firm and soft would be an option?
