The Guest House is a large Edwardian property in a quiet residential street with parking provided. I chose a location a short drive outside the Cardiff city centre due to lack of parking/additional fees for the same there. Palatial sized en suite room, excellent value at the Guest House. Nice views to local hills and villages surrounding town. Short walk into the pleasant, bustling town of Caerphilly with amazing Castle currently under some renovation. Steve was a welcoming host. Did not have breakfast hence a 9.

? Saniflo system which is a bit of a noise if not used to it but just momentary when you flush loo etc.

I had spoken to Steven, the proprietor, of Ty Castell prior to travelling to stay in Caerphilly on Friday 17th May to attend a funeral in Cardiff. He was very professional and helpful. I called him again on my day of arrival to sort out booking in and it was a very smooth process. The room was at the front of the property and it was spacious, light, airy and clean. It had an ample size bathroom with good water pressure in the shower. The double room had tea and coffee making facilities. All in all my impression of Ty Castell was very favourable and would recommend it to anyone. I would certainly stay there again.

Breakfast was fantastic and home-made to order (in our case vegetarian). Place was very clean, Steve was very friendly and helpful, the shower was great and the location was good too. We like a little walk after dinner back to the accommodation, and it it was a short walk, but enough to get some air and stretch the legs. Uphill on the way home. Well placed for visiting the castle.

It's not going to win any interior design awards, but it absolutely ticked every box it needed to.

Steve is a wonderful host. We had the family suite in the attic. Stairs are steep but not an issue for us. Beds were very comfortable. I had a continental breakfast, my husband a cooked English breakfast, which had to be ordered the night before. It’s not included in the room charge and we paid Steve cash for it at checkout. The location is within walking distance to several restaurants. It was a good base for trips further into Wales and to Cardiff.

We have stayed here before and as always we received a warm welcome from Steve. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was excellent as ever. The location is quiet yet a quick walk away from the town centre, restaurants etc. It is also handy if, like us, you are visiting Cardiff but prefer to stay somewhere away from the hustle bustle of the city. Useful to have off road parking too.

The only thing marring our 2 night stay this time was an inconsiderate level of noise late at night from a large family group of guests above us which kept us awake on the second night. Our host was most apologetic and, to be fair, this is the only time we have experienced this, Ty Castell is usually a really peaceful place to stay.

The room was perfect for my son and myself. We had the family room for the two of us and my son had his own room which was fantastic The room was so clean and tidy and I felt safe staying there and the host was extremely welcoming the breakfast was delicious and well made.If you have dietary requirements the host was happy to fulfill them if given notice.The guest house was in a convenient location so you easily access Aber and Caephilly station the hotel is closer to Caephilly station.There are shops and restaurants nearby and the house was lovely and quiet.

There was nothing that I didn't like.

I can name several arguments in favour of Ty Castell Guest House : Parking on site. A clean room. Quiet at night. Town center with pubs, restaurants and castle accessible by foot. Full english breakfast. However, what makes the establishment stand out among peers is the sincere hospitality of its owner. I was warmly welcomed by Steve upon arrival. He provided me with good suggestions for dinner. He also took time for conversation, something any lone traveler can appreciate. Steve is the heart and soul of Ty Castell Guest House and he will go out of his way to make your stay pleasant and memorable.

Everything was perfect.

Friendly hosts who gave good advice on what to see and do in Caerphilly and Cardiff. The room was a ground floor 'accessible" unit (although we did not need this) and was large, private, and with a view up to the back garden and trees.. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Car parking was free and the location is close to the railway station (for a trip to Cardiff) and to the top of the town.

The room was rather warm and the windows did not open fully. The kettle was tiny and the TV was not in the most convenient spot. Because the unit was accessible the shower was open and water sprayed over the whole bathroom. floor

Private parking, lovely clean room with a comfy bed, massive bathroom and literally 5 minutes from the town centre. Steve the host is a great guy, he’s got the right balance of friendly and being the host and has obviously been doing the this for a long time. We decided to have the breakfast and weren’t disappointed, well worth it, not sure when we’ll be back in Caerphilly but if we are I’ll be booking in again

Nothing I didn’t like

A gem of a find and we would return in a heartbeat. My sister and I were travelling together and by booking the family room we had individual bedrooms which was perfect. The room is in a loft conversion so the second set of stairs was quite steep but that is clearly explained in the description of the property and we managed perfectly well even though I have some minor mobility issues. We were in Caerphilly to meet other family members. It was an easy walk into the town centre (including the railway station had we needed to use it) on a quiet residential street; no worries about walking back in the evening. Next time I stay in Caerphilly this is the place for me.
