The bathroom was wonderful, spacious and nicely tiled. The view from the hotel room was right onto the picturesque river. The heating could be adjusted for comfort.

The check out was somewhat rude. I was shocked to be informed check out was to be at 10:30am and requested a later one. The supervisor, on check-in, noted in his book for the cleaning staff that we would leave at 11:3Oam. On the last morning there was a knock on the door with the receptionist insisting the check out was for 10am. What a rush and bad ambiance!

Comfortable room with two easy chairs, which many hotels do not provide. Pleasant dining room.

The hotel charges £15 per night for parking if booking is made through Booking.com but is free if the booking is made direct with the hotel. Similarly only continental breakfast is included in the price through Booking.com. Full English breakfast is charged at £9.xx per person. This is not indicated on the Booking.com information, which says "Breakfast included". As Arundel House is an English hotel one would expect an included breakfast to be full English unless otherwise stated.

Friendly and professional staff at all levels; very comfortable room; fabulous location

'Breakfast' was 'included'. This actually turned out to be a very basic continental breakfast. It was a £12.50 charge on top for a cooked breakfast; you did not find this out until you sat down to breakfast. Please amend the description to reflect this i.e. 'Continental breakfast included' so as to manage expectations.

I was very pleased with the choice of this hotel. It exceeded my expectations. I came for the Cambridge debates and it turned out that I was only 10 minutes away from the venue. I had a beautiful room overlooking the park and a beautiful sunset was right in front of me. A river, a bridge. I love such quiet places away from the noisy tourist streets. The hotel was well decorated for Christmas, and at breakfast there was a beautiful terrace. Everything was very clean and wonderful, helpful people work there. And yes, it was very nice to have the care taken of my stay - I was sent a very nice letter with offers from the hotel. Such a good feeling that you will be met here as you should

I would like to note that the breakfast offered is very basic, but you can order something else for an additional fee.

Friendly helpful staff.good choice breakfast .a good spot for Cambridge City the 'crem' along side of the river old fashioned style.loved all the Christmas decs trees !

Havin to pay £20 for car park.cus book by Bookin.com, thought £10 would have been enough. Was a Sunday evenin so the bar was closed..not happy with that as when your on holiday you like to finish the evening with a drink ! .the dinning room chairs had seen better days you didn want to sit on them. & the kitchen door was very scuffed ! Some of the carpets were thread bare & the public halls, walls & stairs were very scuffed.n carpets hanging dangerous off the stairs!! In need of a make over !! As it is sorry I couldn recommend !

Chose this hotel because it is an easy walk to the centre and has a huge car park. If you book through an agent you do pay the extra for the car park but it is still pretty cheap overall. So, obviously, the decor is a bit tired and dated, but if you were brought up in the 80s, it's a nice opportunity to reminisce! If you expect 5 star luxury and service you may be a little disappointed, but if you want a cheap place to stay, with good heating, comfortable beds and very quiet nights - this place fits the bill.

The bar closed at 10pm!

The location of the property was marvellous, close to the centre of Cambridge, we were able to park at the property for a fee of £18 per night which is a lot cheaper than public car parks in the area. The cost of the hotel was less than the regular chain hotels which although modern always lack character and comfort. The hotel provided a map of the town which made it easy to find our way around. The hotel is just by the river so ideal for evening walks along there and opposite one of the large green areas which was lovely to walk through.

The bikes in Cambridge are a hazard, cyclists rarely ring their bells and whisk past you when you are walking. Need to keep checking behind you before you step into a road or cycle lane or move at all on the river side and park paths.

Room 227 - very comfortable bed. Clean room apart from the edges of furniture which had a clear line of dust. Plenty of wardrobe space. Location was further than I expected from the station but still a gentle flat walk. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Serving staff very polite

Room 227 - lack of plug sockets. Strong smell of cigarette smoke from the stairs and up to my room. I left my window open during the day on a very hot day; when i returned to my room it had been closed and my breathing was affected for an hour whilst I tried to get fresh air in the room. Instructions at breakfast were incorrect, coffee and tea is self service; not waitress.

The hotel was even better than we expected! It’s in a great location close to the city centre and has the added bonus of a big car park which we were able to park in prior to check in. Our room was listed as a ‘small bedroom’ but it was a great size and it was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The public areas were comfortable and the conservatory was lovely to sit and relax with our continental breakfast - which was included in the price. Staff were very friendly and helpful We would definitely stay again if we returned to Cambridge.

There’s nothing to dislike!

This is a friendly hotel with a good location to the centre of Cambridge. The bed was very comfortable and the cooked breakfast tasty. This is a wonderful Victorian building. We would have loved to know more about its history.

The bar does not open until 18.00 and so to get a coffee or an afternoon drink you need to go elsewhere. This was a shame as we would have liked to enjoy the hotel itself more on our return from the city before getting ready to go out for the evening. I appreciate there may not be the demand for this. We, instead, nipped across the way to buy hot drinks from the park and brought back to enjoy in the bar area. Not being able to buy water in the hotel was also a problem for us.
