The staff were amazing. When I explained to the owner that I had to complete some online training and I needed my computer to be charged, he not only went off and found an adaptor for a French plug which I needed, he also brought up from the bar a table and chair so that I could do the training in comfort - definitely above and beyond!

It was a bit quiet which is hard to do much about but the only people in the bar were guests at the hotel. The food offering was limited but I was grateful to have something close I could grab when the training finished at 21.00 hours.

The Manager Steven was extremely kind and allowed us to check in at 10am to leave our bags so that we didn’t have the inconvenience of lugging them around all day. Later in the bar that evening, he served the most delicious Pimms and there was a DJ. The shared shower facilities were very clean and modern too.

Now this is not a criticism because we knew we were staying in a room above a bar. We could have chosen other accommodation but we didn’t. The reason we didn’t is that the Castle is ideally located for catching the National Express for Stansted, which left at 0400, so a bar with a DJ til 3am wasn’t going to bother us. We knew we’d get no sleep but it didn’t matter because our priority was to be a short walk from our coach. It suited us but if you want a quiet sleep then you may feel differently.

Beautiful location - central as can be without an expensive boutique hotel (closer to the center than the Hilton that we walked past). Staff was accommodating and clear - lovely bathroom (shared) facilities. A little 'Dormy' but bedsheets were clean and room was comfortable and enough room. TV didn't work but its not what you go on holiday for is it? Bar downstairs is incredible... and you are 2 mins walk from the absolute center. Really, really good value.

The building was a bit labyrinthian and I think its not been repurposed as accommodation for long. The walk up to the rooms you get the (wrong) sense that the place is a bit dirty and run down. Its just the corridors probably needs new carpets and a lick of paint. By thetas the only thing we could think of at all.

The location was great. Near bus stops for park n ride, Wetherspoon's & cinema next door, Sainsbury's across the rd if u needed anything and shops etc are literally a couple of mins walk away. Steven was great, let us in when we got there and held our bags after check out so we could shop more before heading home. Everything was clean and the beds were comfy. There was one bathroom for our floor which had a nice bath, shower n loo. (Modern and clean). There is another loo downstairs if someone's in the main bathroom.

The only thing we didn't enjoy was the noise from the bar below but you are pre-warned about this in the details before booking... so we took ear plugs. The volume is fine until about 22.30 but after that say goodbye to watching TV or sleeping....unless u have ear plugs. If u have ear plugs like us, you'll be just fine.

Very centrally located, great host and it had what was needed.

There was nothing I didn’t like having in mind the hotel’s level. Maybe it is a bit pricier than I would have otherwise paid under other circumstances, but to be as close to everything as I had been, it was worth the money I believe. Maybe the only minus I would have given to this place is that in the bathroom you have to press a button all the time while taking a shower. It is not a constant flow of water but for a few seconds and then again you have to press again and again until you’ve had your shower.

I had a central location close to where I needed to be in Cambridge. Stephen showed me to my room and explained that the way to find your way to the front door was to follow the green signs to the exit. The room was really clean and well maintained. The cleaning staff must be really efficient.

I had booked a shared bathroom room and frequently when I do that there is a sink in the bedroom, but that was not the case here.

Brilliant position, friendly member of staff and a comfortable bed and night. A shared bathroom but very clean and no issue at all.

Strangely where were no batteries in the TV remote. I'm sure this could've been remedied but it wasn't all that important so we didn't bother. No kettle in the room either. Also, there should've possibly been indication in the keypad outside that it was for the accommodation. It was a bit of a maze inside though, though an intriguing setup so no real issue.

Room was nice and warm and the bed was really comfortable (see smiley face below). I was in Cambridge to see a play so I was delighted to find The Castle was just a short walk from the theatre.

My only problem was going to the bathroom in the middle of the night but I managed this okay.

Really great location close to corn exchange but far enough out of town centre not to be too noisy, lovely ambience, really friendly and helpful staff, comfortable nights sleep

Lots of doors inside the property, couldn’t find which door led where, but don’t let that stop anyone staying it was probably east if we weren’t in such a rush to get in out

Excellent location (especially for the Corn Exchange). Excellent price (compared to most other places in the area). Friendly and welcoming and a nice clean room. Shared bathroom but it was lovely and clean. Would definitely stay again.

For what I paid, I don't expect too much really. If I had to request something, it would be tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Nothing major or fancy, but a kettle, mugs and teabags was very much needed.
