Well located and easy to find. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms and common areas were clean. The common area had games for the kids and adults to play while waiting for your next Edinburgh attraction, or having a drink. Plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby. There is also a tram stop just 2 minutes from the front door.
The WiFi was spotty.

Location, Reception Area and Cafe, Nothing was too much bother for the staff. One of the best Youth Hostels I've ever stayed in. The place was warm and very comfortable. Buses and Trams close by so easy access into the City. Downstairs Cafe area was nice place to chill, grab a drink and even some food. Excellent coffee by the way.
Shower was a little unpredictable and had a blockage, so took ages to drain away. Bed was not made properly when we arrived. However Sheets were all clean. Could have done with a kettle or TV in the room, although there was a self catering area and TV room available. No cupboards only a side unit in the room so nowhere to hang clothes.

Great location, just next to tram station (mcd road st), cross the road and walk for 1 min u will reach hostel. Booked a 3 beded room, Quite spacious, shower and toilet is separated. the room heater was working quite good but the switch was quite high up, not friendly for short people. Bus stop nearby, easily accessible to the tourist spot. better than other hostel like shubhill, etc. Kitchen is a centralise kitchen with 4 big stoves, 4 oven, 2 fridges, and 1 microwave. Can cook anytime yrself. Washing machine and dryer available but need to pay using token. 2 pound per load per wash/dry.
Room was quite dirty, my hand was bitten by bedbugs all over. shower water pressure was too strong and it hurts when bathing.

The entrance to the hostel was very inviting. There was always someone/more than one person behind reception to welcome you and the atmosphere was full of chatter with other guests staying there and enjoying the common room or caffe area. One day I forgot my cell phone on the couch and someone gave it in at reception, I was so happy to receive it back. We stayed at the top floor, so the view from the room was spectacular with each sunset and sunrise over the skyline as well as a view of the street ever so busy with travellers.
The room we stayed in was fully covered in carpets (even as you get out of the shower) which grossed me out a little bit even though everything seemed to be very clean. Its honestly a personal preference.

The place is very good. The room was big and had it's own private bathroom and toilet. We were given a room with a view to the street and on the third floor. It was nice and warm. The beds were comfortable. The whole room was very clean. In general the accomodations are not luxurious but are more than enough to make your stay absolutely comfortable. The best thing about this place is the location. Only 20 minutes from the old town, 100 meters from a Tram stop that will lead you to the airport or any part of the town. I would definitely recommend this place and will rebook it for my next visit in Edinburgh
The electrical plugs were strangely located. I didn't have one near my bed. But this is a minor inconvenience.

We spent 3 wonderful days in Edinburgh. This was an absolute gem, fantastic location, and extremely helpful and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble, and everything was done promptly with a smile. The room was a good size for 3 adults, and the double bed was very comfortable. There was road noise, but very acceptable, as we were in the city. The hostel was exceptionally quiet, we did not hear a sound during our stay. It was an incredible price, and money was also donated to a respite charity. We would most certainly return to this accommodation, I have already recommended to a friend. No frills, great price, fabulous location, if you like clean and simple accommodation in a great location, you can not go wrong here.
Tiny niggles: Soap dispenser not in toilet, but in main room. Take your own soap for hand washing. Grown up daughter said upper bunk mattress was uncomfortable. The window could not be closed properly due to the safety shield blocking the handle. None of these would prevent our return.

Amazing location! Perfect for a couple.. we arrived late on in the afternoon on our first night so just had a lazy one, but due to the location we were able to grab some food near the playhouse then on the second day we got up early and after reading about the nice easy breakfast ideas we decided to have a roll with couple of different hot fillings... Ideal! Set us up for the morning right up till lunch time and super cheap, with coffee and tea included. After a long day trekking on our second day we were able to sit down in the lobby with a fresh coffee (with Lactose free options) and a crisp local pint and played some games we brought from home. It was a short stay for us as we were travelling down south but definitely will look at booking here again and other locations with Hosteling Scotland (we were able to get a private room with private bathroom and shower)
Not so much to unlike to be honest, I would just mention they had a lot of young school groups staying but I think that's mainly because of the proximity to the theatre.. but that didn't take away from anything. Was great to see them filling up on bottles of coca cola before being sent home to mum and dad 😁😳😳

Was amazed at how nice the reception area lounge and eating area was .I would book again without a doubt .The room was nice and clean , could not fault a thing for the price I paid . The shower was lovely and easy to use I am an elderly person and found it perfect not having to step up to high to access it .The prices at the bar and the food were such good value for money . I stripped the bed after use as being old school thought about the chambermaids and knowing how hard they work maybe would be appreciated .
I could not fault a thing which is a big plus point for me so well done and keep up the good work . Exceeded my expectations .

- great location and friendly staff - good amenities - great for our purpose which was a one night stay while in transit. Train station is walkable distance - our room was decently spacious and we had a nice window - free towels with our booking, a nice bonus - sheets, bathroom, sink, and showers were clean - good value for a private room split between four, when comparing to the other options in Edinburgh we had available to us.
- if you didn’t look to hard, it was clean. But in the crevices of the bunk bed and below there was quite a lot of dust/debris. Also the walls had some stuff on it. However, I have stayed in worse hostel conditions so I am thankful the basics were clean, but could be slightly better. - no fan in washroom (or at least ours was not working?). Not a huge deal but might be nice!

The location is fantastic. Super close to the tram and lots of pubs, restaurants and cafes nearby. Shared kitchen is clean and well stocked. Lounge areas are nice, encountered only friendliness during our stay. Appreciated that towels were included with private room. Room was mostly clean.
The windows don’t latch close so with street noise it’s very loud late at night and early in the morning. The bathroom light is on a timer so it turns off really quickly and then you have to get up and open the door/leave the bathroom to get it back on. I understand this is environmental, but it seems pointless when the windows don’t properly close anyways.
