We loved this old, traditional inn and wished that we were staying for longer. Our room was comfortable, clean and peaceful. The owner and staff were very friendly and gave us personal attention and help over and above our expectations. The location was lovely and interesting and we would have liked to explore it further. Equally, we would have liked to stay for Sunday lunch but were otherwise engaged. However, we were able to enjoy a hearty and generous breakfast before we left. Given the quality of our stay, it seems immaterial to mention that this was extremely good value for money. We are hoping to go back for a longer visit!

Beautiful old 16th century coaching in, with lovely gardens. Inside the pub it’s dark, with wooden beams, open fire grate etc as in keeping with a very old pub in a stable type structure. The accommodation is a separate addition at the rear. The rooms in something which resembles a modern stable block. They are clean, compact but well appointed and surprisingly quiet…we were unaffected by noise from patrons in the garden.
The female serving staff were not overly friendly or welcoming on arrival or at breakfast presenting as somewhat perfunctory in their manner. The price of a pint of Stella and a single gin and tonic was over £16! Somewhat steep and when queried we were told this is an expensive area!

This 16th century inn was at a perfect location, the property has a lot of character and it was great to spend two nights here. Our room was outstanding with a really comfy bed and a fabulous shower, the room was finished to a really high standard. The full English breakfast was excellent with fresh produce and lovely coffee, staff really friendly and helpful , a really nice bar/restaurant with a great selection of beers and ales

The room we were given was up an outside flight of stairs and had a small balcony, unfortunately the weather wasn't good enough for us to sit outside but I would think it would be lovely in the summer months. Sadly the fan and towel rails in the bathroom weren't working but we were told they were aware of the problem and hopefully it is all sorted out now.
A slightly better light on the outside staircase might have been helpful

Despite all the good reviews, Withies did look rather unprepossessing at first sight - an olde country pub, both inside and out. But: very friendly and helpful staff, who seemed to enjoy working there; lovely bar supper and very good breakfast; and the guest rooms very nice - newly done, well equipped, simple and nice decor, small-ish room and en-suite shower room, but perfectly adequate for one night; pretty gardens; nice remote situation. Would definitely book again if we ever needed accomm in the Guildford area. (We were there for a visit and wine-tasting at Greyfriars Vineyard under 5 miles away - highly recommended, too.)
Nothing.

I stayed at The Withies Inn for one night whilst travelling for business. The inn is in a beautiful location and whilst, rural not difficult to find at all. From the moment I arrived the team were extremely courteous and hospitable. The inn is 16th century, full of traditional features so watch out for the oak beams above your head. The rooms are newly created additions (2019 I think) using the converted outhouses and old stables so are very modern in decor and furniture. Fantastic walk in rain shower, lovely comfy bed and a great hairdryer!. Added extras of tea, coffee, plenty of quality biscuits and a 750ml bottle of water included. I ate in the restaurant in the evening - very traditional style setting and menu offering with evening chefs specials too. I had the Mushroom Stroganoff which was delicious, accompanied by perfectly cooked fresh vegetables - albeit couldn't finish it because the portions are so large. I am not a huge breakfast person so opted for cereal and toast, but there is a good choice of hot items all cooked fresh to order. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely stay at The Withies Inn again if need to be in Guildford.

The view from our lovely room treetops was amazing. The room was immaculate. Breakfast wich was thrown in was amazing.
The bed was too hard. The pillows were hard too. But then again every time we stay away we find ourselves complaining that the bed is not as comfortable as ours at home . Our room was up some stairs I’d thought it was ground floor so I struggled to get up and down the stairs as I’m disabled.

Brilliant location. Only 10 mins from centre of Guildford. Loved the 16th century building and gardens, which was a great addition to our day at a medieval joust and festival. We dined in one of their ivy covered alcoves outside during a fabulously warm evening. Room a little on the small side, but it had everything in it for our stay, and totally private. Many thanks to all the staff, who were 100% polite, cheerful and helpful.

I was local for an event so the location was perfect, the Pub is really lovely and staff were very friendly and helpful despite my later than expected arrival.. The room itself was in a separate building around the back of the pub, whilst it was small it was very comfy and clean, it suited my one night stopover and I'll certainly stay again. Overall a short but nice stay..

Great location, and elegant old property Staff were amazingly efficient. Considering it was Sunday lunchtime when I arrived, all the food arrived hot and well presented. Fantastic quality and really tasty. Breakfast was equally s tasty too. Coffee really good quality - I drink it black without sugar so I can taste everything. Looking forward to a return trip.
Everything very good
