We have stayed at the Alverbank several times now and each visit has been lovely. The location is beautiful as is the interior of the hotel. The view across the Isle of White in summer is exceptional and it is possible to have breakfast (exceptionally good) on the sunny garden terrace in good weather. The staff could not be more personable and helpful. The hotel is dog friendly with a great park directly behind for off lead runs and walks. We can’t recommend the Alverbank highly enough.

Nothing - it is a great hotel all round.

Staff were lovely and friendly, they were attentive and made you feel welcome. I had friends visiting for an evening meal. The service was excellent, the food delicious and great value for money. It’s an old house so the bedrooms aren’t what you’d find in a modern hotel but they were clean and comfortable with nice en-suite. The breakfast choice was excellent too. I would recommend this hotel, not only for the service but its location by the sea.

Nothing springs to mind

What can I say….my stay was exceptional. Comfy bed, lovely sea view, amazing breakfast, with so many choices. The staff were amazing, I called them to say we were going to be late due to traffic problems and they assured me this would not be a problem. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, even to making sandwiches when the kitchen was closed! They certainly know about customer service! I would stay again in a heartbeat!

There is nothing I could say to be critical about this property.

Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. I was in the hotel bar area for an event in the afternoon, and this again was well done with friendly staff. Breakfast was fine and didn't feel mass-produced - nice breakfast menu (though all I wanted was toast and cereal... :-) )

Only negative point is that a staff member tried to enter the room before I'd gone done to breakfast when I was still getting ready. Clearly just a mistake.

Location was brilliant, with views over Stokes Bay to the Isle of Wight & beautiful Stanley Park to the rear. The staff were friendly and helpful & the building was quirky, charming & of real historical interest . The rooms were comfortable & newly refurbished with lovely showers.

The lounge areas were closed, for servicing we were told, but it was the evening & we didn’t see any activity…The garden could be a little better cared for. Only continental breakfast was available & the restaurant wasn’t open on the night we stayed, though I hear it’s excellent when it is open!

All the staff are so lovely, very helpful, always smiling. Nothing is too much trouble. Good parking, room was a good size , a little lacking in hanging space but ok for a couple of days stay. Nice bathroom too. Nice welcome items, and lovely bed and bedding.

Intermittent shower problems , but was advised that this is not a normal hotel issue . Sadly Easter weekend caused issues with tradesman being unable to attended. Staff all very apologetic and tried their best with such a difficult problem.

Room was lovely and very clean with a comfortable bed. The staff were attentive and extremely helpful and polite. The breakfast menu was expansive and the food was delicious, it was also included in the price of the room which we felt was very reasonable. We would definitely recommend.

Nothing - everything was good.

The hotel was lovely, located in a great place near the sea and by a lovely park and gardens. The staff were so friendly. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was superb. Had a lovely stay and will definitely go back there again.

There were no hangers in the room so had to put clothes on hooks. Would have been nice to have been offered some juice at breakfast.

Its not my first time at the Alverbank and its really a special place Older a little historic close to everything but well away from noise and the hustle and bustle of town. Id recommend the Alverbank to fellow travelers.

My only gripe was the lady at check in wanted to charge my credit card even though I showed her a printed copy of my booking saying I had paid she tried explaining it was a virtual booking?? I ended up taking down my laptop with a copy of my credit card statement showing the payment. The whole thing set my evening off on the wrong foot I travel all the time and know all the ins and outs of paying so I did not like this at all.
