Really enjoyed my stay here. Warm and comfortable feel overall, room was spacious with design ascetic throughout. Nice to have a fully stocked fridge, tea and coffee selection and snacks. A fab touch. Bathroom was well appointed with a fab ceiling shower and great products to use. Pub downstairs was really nice too with great selection of drinks and food. Dined here for breakfast and dinner and each was spot on. Staff were very helpful and attentive. Couldn't ask for more!
Id have to be very picky to find negatives. Personally i don't like a sky box shut away in a cupboard as it felt very hot. Didn't seem to have ventilation. Also i found myself looking for stairs once and took what i think was the fire escape staircase which was pretty grotty and not immaculate like the rest of the building so wouldn't do any harm to give that a paint. Constructive criticisms i would call these.

This amusingly-named hotel is located on the actual site of the garden of the villa of the real Alexander Pope (1688-1744). This is a lovely location with a view of the Thames and proximity to Radnor Gardens and Strawberry Hill, and within a pleasant walk of many other historical local attractions. The room was comfortable and reasonably well appointed, with an excellent bed and an updated bathroom - though the faucets are a bit high tech. Don't expect traditional front desk service; you should seek out the manager somewhere in the restaurant and he will look after your check in and check out needs. The Pope theme is relatively tasteful and well done by transatlantic standards.
The design in the modern bathroom could have been better done - no way to regulate the flow of water that we could see. Also, don't expect traditional front desk service; once you seek out the manager, he will look after you quite pleasantly, but you need to allow time for that.

The room was a really good size, very generous for a double room and had a really classy feel to it. We had a view of the Thames from our room, but there was very little noise despite the fact we were facing out onto the road. The bathroom was very modern, clearly been though out and had investment into subtleties as a heated mirror and smart taps. There were even full size amenities such as conditioner and handcream. The staff were friendly and happy to help at all hours! The honesty bar was a lovely touch with great options, but priced quite high - though this is to be expected for convenience!
The only improvement would be better lighting for the mirror in the bedroom. There wasn't a lot of natural light so it was hard to get ready there, however, the lighting in the bathroom was a bit better - no steamy mirrors being a winner here!

The location is perfect for us. Easy transport into inner London with Twickenham station a level and short walk away, giving access to Waterloo. Immediate surroundings are splendid, riverside walks, open space opposite hotel, and some excellent shops and cafes within walking distance. The room (with balcony) was comfortable and well equipped, with a great bathroom and a bath!!! Furnishings of good quality, room felt individual rather than 'one of many'. Some light wear and tear but to be expected in any hotel.
Although it did not affect our stay there was an unresolved issue with the TV, we reported it the morning after arrival and were assured it would be rectified, but it never was. At pains to point out this was a VERY minor issue for us.

Our room was clean, tastefully decorated and spacious with a variety of snacks and drinks available that we could purchase from the honesty bar. Our breakfast was delicious! There was a good choice from the breakfast bar and a lovely range of cooked breakfast to choose from. The bar area was large, and had a good ambiance. There was also an attractive and spacious outdoor area (we didn’t have time to use this). The location was ideal for us too and our room overlooked a park (Radnor Gardens) and the River Thames. A plus for us was that there was parking available at the hotel too.
It wasn’t a major thing for us, but because the hotel is quite an old building, I could hear people walking about in the rooms above during the middle of the night.

We were staying for a two day course so arrived very early (pre 9am) and they let us check in as room was ready. Probably not going to happen very often, but this was excellent for us as they didn't need to do that. They also let us park there pre-check in and post check out. Location is great right by the river and it's about 7-10 minute walk to Twickenham green where there are a load of pubs/restuarants. Room was very clean, digital taps which was a novelty, Sky basic channels in the room, really good breakfast and a great nights sleep.
Slightly creaky floorboards outside the room if I'm having to pick holes.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 1 night stay at the Alexander Pope in Twickenham. Ideal place with free hotel parking which is a major plus. We received a warm welcome on arrival and check in was quick and easy. There are lifts to the rooms as well as stairs. We were very pleasantly surprised as we entered the room. A huge bed with quality bed linen which aided a very good nights sleep. TV/mini bar/tea and coffee also in the room. The bathroom was luxurious, fab shower and so good to see quality Bramley toiletries provided. Nice location by the river and our room had a balcony overlooking the river. We didn't have breakfast as we had an early start, but based on what we had seen, I can guess that breakfast would have been fab too. Would happily re-visit.
The tv wire was loose and so we couldn't any TV. However, we weren't too bothered about it and forgot to report it to reception. I'm sure they would have dealt with it promptly had we reported it.

This is our third stay at the Alexander Pope. This time we were hear for my birthday. The room was very comfortable with a good view (I had opted for a room with a balcony). My son his wife and my grandson also had a room here. The room was well furnished, clean, good bedding and towels and a very nice bathroom and shower. There is a fully stocked mini bar in the room which of course you need to pay for if used. Food at this pub is always good, breakfast offerings are wide and there should be something to suit everyone. as allergies are catered for and vegan options to. The all-day menu is not that large but the food we had in the evenings was very tasty and good value for money. My wife had booked Sunday lunch for 10 of us which incuded children ages 2, 6 , 9 ,14. The staff were unbelievebly helpful and helped slice and serve up a massive cake I was bought, to help out. The Sunday roast itself was very nicely cooked and portions were good. Nothing was too much trouble It makes a great base for further exploration of London and its now our go to hotel when we visit family in Twickenham.
Nothing really. I suppose as we have been a few time now we are reaching the limits of the menu. Maybe a specials board would be in order.

Fabulous room with a view over the park and river. Location excellent, in between places we wanted to visit. A pleasant walk from the hotel every day. Lovely sunny outdoor dining area. Staff welcoming and helpful
Breakfast could have been better with more options displayed. Cooked breakfasts were plain, presentation could be improved with garnish or side decoration. The hotel could probably do with an entrance ramp for travellers and disabled people to make it easier than negotiating the stairs.

The room was clean and comfortable and met our needs. It’s a nice hotel in a great location and has parking which is a major plus in Twickenham if you’re driving there. The staff were polite and professional - special mention for Jodie who was wonderful in the restaurant and really enhanced our stay. The food was great, fairly small menu but all beautifully cooked and presented. It’s on a busy road but they’ve created a nice (heated) outside space from which the lovely view can be enjoyed.
Floorboards are very creaky but I don’t suppose much can be done about that!
