Great location, not expensive for London

Everything is dated. Downstairs bar is dismal. Superb location on the Heath but that view totally wasted as the bars are either in the basement or out the back. Carpets tired, beds tired…

This hotel is absolutely great. Our room was large and had good facilities. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is excellent. The location was also excellent for our purposes. There is a free parking lot right in front of the hotel, which we used. As we were traveling with our dog, we really liked the large green area in front of the hotel and the Greenwich Park nearby. It is also only a few minutes walk to Blackheath station and from there you can get to central London very quickly by train. The next time we come to London, we will definitely book The Clarendon Hotel again!

The free WIFI strength in our room was unfortunately very weak, but okay in the public areas of the hotel.

Breakfast was great plenty of choice and quick despite queuing to get in. We liked the dining room which was magical for our Christmas Eve dinner with pianist and crackers and excellent meal with reasonably priced wine. Location is superb, overlooking the heath, with bus stopping outside and station and shops a short walk. Staff were efficient and friendly. Our room was comfortable clean and nice to have a full bath rather than just a shower. Shower worked very well and nice hot water. Generally nice atmosphere around the hotel.

It would have been nice to have a view over the heath, apparently only double rather than twin rooms have that. And our first room was chilly and it took a while to move us to another one.

Klimat Blackheath i hotelu niepowtarzalny. Lokalizacja idealna. Przyjemne i czyste pokoje, od naszego ostatniego pobytu odnowione łazienki.

On our last day we were served this small pot of tea for three for breakfast so I asked for an extra one. The waitress responded: No, this is enough. This brought me up short for w while but then I insisted on more tea and she finally brought it making faces. I would have never thought that there are limited pots for breakfast. Generally, the staff was nice except for this one waitress I had never seen before during my stay. There are these two exceptional ladies, one of whom served us the afternoon tea on our first day, whom I remember from our previous stays. They make the hotel welcoming and nice to stay in. Wi-fi far from perfect.

Friendly but professional, just how I like it! The ladies serving at breakfast were lovely. I loved the breakfast - I particularly like mushrooms - and Leonardo's were lovely - perfect temperature and cooked to perfection, with a lovely touch of pepper / spice. I was incredulous that the di**head on the table next to me said "I'm not complaining or anything, but just some feedback to the chef: mushrooms have a delicate taste, and need to be served without spices". He sort of spoiled my morning - though obviously that's not the hotel's fault... and in fact the waitress dealt with him in a lovely way, with a smile and a sincere "yes of course, Sir". I hope she either didn't tell the chef, or prefaced it with "you'll never guess what this k*ob of a guy said..."!! Sorry, just had to get that off my chest!! I was driving a van as I was helping my daughter move flat - the parking was brilliant for that (was worried it would be multistorey/ underground and/or too small to park the van)...

Nothing.

The Location......as our daughter lives in Blackheath....plus train station a short walk. Staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Including reception and domestics. The breakfast is always plentiful with an excellent choice.....the staff are super efficient especially at breakfast.....they run a tight ship !!....which impresses me each time we come ....well done guys !!!!!

The only negative is the hotel I feel is looking a little tired...but is the only negative I have.

Hotel is lovely and what we expected when booking a room in an independent hotel in an old building. It's individual, comfortable and personal with creaky uneven floors and some wonky fixtures! It's a brilliant location with lots of local options for drinking and eating. Free parking was a great bonus too. Staff were really friendly, especially Karl on reception, who picked up that it was my husband's birthday, made us feel very welcome and upgraded our room. Really good transport links that will get you into the city quickly...but also so much to do locally. Don't miss Greenwich Observatory which is a short walk away.

Our stay at the Clarendon Hotel was wonderful. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the management went out of their way to make our wedding anniversary extra special. They surprised us with a card, After Eight chocolates, and sprinkled artificial rose petal confetti on our bed, creating a beautifully romantic setup that truly surprised my husband! The buffet breakfast was definitely our favorite part, but as a bonus, our booking included a three-course evening meal at a great price, along with a live Buddy Holly Tribute featuring Elvis songs—a memorable experience! The dinner was well worth it, and the personal greeting during the performance made it even better. The hotel’s location is perfect, with a fun fair and circus nearby (at the time of our visit), and the town itself is peaceful, with a few charming pubs to visit. Truly splendid!

The hotel might be a bit pricier compared to others, but the location makes it worthwhile. The WiFi signal wasn’t very strong in our room, so we ended up using our own data. The bathroom was decent, stocked with soap and lotion. Despite these minor issues, we still rate it 9/10, with room for a few improvements.

The staff was very friendly, the food in general was very tasty and you can have good beds to rest after a long day walking. The location was good, but you definitely need bus+metro or train (both close to the hotel) to move to and from he city centre.

The hotel is in good conditions, but keep in mind that it is an old hotel. The bedrooms were kept in good shape, but could be better. There was no sound proof windows (there was a ventilation always-open vent), so it was very easy to heard the people in the garden. Luckily it was a quite neighbourhood. Small details could make it better: towel hangers in the bathroom, soundproof doors and windows (for the weekend) and options of pillows; are the mail comments in my group.

The staff were impeccable and attended to our every need. Breakfast was excellent and we stayed for lunch after checking out which was also very nice. Receptionists were quick to respond to our concerns.

The building is very dilapidated and the decor is very dated. You are greeted by worn out carpets and fittings that have been repainted and repaired too often. The door locks are all bolted on separately and the bathroom fans are noisy. The bedside lamps in our room where not put together properly. The whole place could do with stripping out and remodelling really. But the staff are great, the location is brilliant and there isn't anywhere nearby that combines the same level of accommodation.
