It’s such a cozy hotel located in the heart of gay village. The staff is friendly and the room clean. Thanks for your hospitality x

Yes, it is above the bar so it can be a bit noisy but we didn’t mind it at all.

We booked a room at the New Union just because of the look of the place from the outside as advertised in the photos. It is one of the oldest and original buildings in the area and truly beautiful inside and out. As the property explains there will be some noise (music) as it functions as a bar/club but it really didn't disturb us at all. We actually enjoyed spending time in the bar downstairs. Because we stayed for nearly a week they gave us one of the quietest rooms, which was bigger than the one we originally booked! Everything is super clean and what was a bonus for us were the hardboard floors in the rooms (as opposed to carpets, which cause allergies...). The location is fantastic! We walked everywhere from there. The stuff were super friendly and really cool!

Great location, 5 minutes from the coach station. Lovely lively bar with friendly staff and locals. Great entertainment. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy, perfect space for those who are out and about during the daytime. Easy access in and out of the building which is very secure. Great place to stay for solo travellers, couples or a small group of friends. The bar below is open until the early hours of the morning but the music isn't too loud that you can't sleep through it if your in bed earlier. Close to shops, cinema and other nightlife/eateries with great Uber service.

We were even greeted by two sweet little doggies which made us very happy as it was our first holiday away from our own dog. The downstairs bar is a great night out. We particularly enjoy the Sunday night drag show and Tuesday drag bingo, as well as the pool tables! The hotel also stored our bags (quite a few too!) for the day after we checked out so we could see the last few bits of manchester without dragging around 5 bags on our last day! Staff were very kind and helpful, as always with New Union! Will be back very soon for another visit.

Music can be a bit loud late night/weekends so consider that if you're wanting early nights and lots of sleep. We were there to party in gay village so we didnt mind (we also used to live above a loud bar, and New Union was much better sound proofing and easy enough for us to sleep through)

The hotel is very central (only 10 minutes walk away from Arndale) and is in a nice/safe area. The room was big with a comfortable private bathroom. Not expensive.

It can get quite loud, especially during certain days if the week when the bar is open till late. On Friday for example, loud music was played till 6am. We were in the ‘quiet’ part and it still bothered us, especially if you’re a light sleeper.

Stayed here before and it was good but the beds have definitely got comfier the quilt and pillows were so comfy we didn't want to leave the bed. Also the new was of leaving and accessing the property is fab (no more fumbling about with a key and getting it jammed in the lock)

Nothing not to like the room was very comfortable the shower was great the only thing that would make it even better would be if they served a full English breakfast on site

The staff were very nice and helpful, the bed was comfortable and the room was really clean. It was incredibly well located and a very short walking distance to the train station.

The room was not super quiet, but that is to be expected due to the fact that it's above a bar. Mostly what came through the walls was music, so it didn't bother me, but if you're a light sleeper I'd recommend bringing ear plugs! Also, this might very well be a case of foreigner stupidity, but it took me quite a bit to figure out that I needed to press the red switch outside the bathroom to turn on the shower!

Great location and very friendly, helpful staff. Also very good rate and clean, comfortable room with kettle, tea/coffee available.

The shower screen in the first room was broken so staff had to move us into another room. The bathroom/shower there was very small, which proved to be tricky with two people over 6 ft, but was doable. Also, pub / night club is located on the groundfloor of the property, so if you are not partying with the crowd, you might want to bring ear plugs.

The location was excellent and only a 10 minute walk to the centre of town. The Canal Street area is very engaging, colourful and entertaining.

Unfortunately the hotel disco was very loud and played until 6am. Then there was loads of young teenagers hanging around after exiting the disco shouting and singing. I knew of the disco but the volume was ridiculously loud from start to finnish.

The most amazing and best place I have ever stayed and the staff and locals are so beautiful and warm and welcoming . My room was wonderful and well equipped with everything I needed . The bed was so conformable and I slept really well. The room had a fantastic huge tv , I never needed to use it , tea and coffee facilities in the room and ensuite shower/toilet , all great with no problems . Super cheap and great value for the money ! Really close to everything , only a 5 minute walk to centre of town and very near all the night life to keep you going and great food close by , great location and everything you need on your doorstep , including a beautiful canal ! I stayed there last minute on my own due to personal circumstances . After staying here at New Union, I wanted to move in and never leave again 😍 I was feeling sad and low and the locals and staff invited me to the pub downstairs and it was the best night of my life !!. So welcoming and the locals are such wonderful people and so chatty and friendly . At no point did I ever feel alone or isolated , every person was chatty and happy and as a female alone I always felt safe and had so much fun. I very much recommend staying here for anyone on their own or need to get away from life and are seeking fun and hope for the future, I highly recommend staying here surrounded by great warm welcoming people. Life can feel so depressing at times but Manchester people are so friendly and happy and can give hope for the future and life can feel absolutely fantastic again . New Union staff and locals are up there with the most happiest and generous people I have ever met . Absolutely fallen in love with Manchester thanks to the Union and everyone , you all are amazing ! Thank you so much !
