Due to a long delay in our travel plans, it wasn't possible to reach the Red Lion until long after it was due to close. Worried about such a late check-in, we telephoned and were reassured that somebody would stay on late to meet us. The young lady who waited for us was so welcoming, helpful . . . and forgiving! I would like to thank her again for going above and beyond. She is an absolute credit to the Red Lion. The room itself was spacious and comfortable. The town looked really nice and the free parking was a bonus.

I have given the Red Lion 10 out of 10 for the amazing service! One small grumble though was that the main room light was slightly dim, but the individual bedside lamps compensate for this.

Great location, I used this for Greenbelt festival, a very short drive away. Good local amenities and the pub did an excellent breakfast. The room, bedding and towels were clean, as was the separate bathroom.

The room was very basic, but this was reflected in the price. The pub was noisy Saturday night and even being on the top floor (3 storeys) it was very loud in my room. I expect this for a pub so should not grumble. That said, the music stopped at midnight. I didn't like that I needed to lock my room from the inside with the key instead of a twist turn or a yale lock, I had concerns about needing to exit quickly in the event of a fire and would need to find the key to do so.

The staff and the locals were extremely nice, could not have been nicer. It is lovely to see a pub so busy these days. The food was very well cooked and enjoyable.. it's really hard to give an accurate score because if younger I suspect we would give a 10. It is very noisy with a thumping beat all night (if does say it's busy which is a good indicator but it is loud in the rooms). The room was brilliant, there were minor issues which I forgot to mention and certainly would not mark down for. Kettle too big to fill (not unusual there lol), no plug in the sink and a few items needed screws tightening. Minor stuff. All in all, really nice, great value just be prepared for the noise if you go at a busy time. It's well run and we'll worth a visit.

The room was large, comfortable, lovely light from outside - with old windows, but they had a sliding glass screen that also shut - to cut out any noise - which was great! All the furniture looked modern and IKEA style - refreshing. The linen was white and we found it very clean. The bathroom was not ensuite - but it was literally next door and we had our own bathroom which was clean and also fresh. I would just mention - this was on the 3rd floor so anyone who can't do steps! must be aware of this.

The rooms are clean and well thought out. The location is perfect for a family trip. Great location and the staff are helpful and friendly.

Many people have commented on the noise from the pub. Yes it is noisy until midnight but both nights we were able to fall asleep during the pub opening hours and slept really well. Probably not the best hotel for small children but if u fancy joining in, the atmosphere in the pub is lovely and the people are all really friendly.

Our stay was for one night and cist £47.00; our review has been based on this. So for one night at this price the place was a Palace. We have family in the town so idea for us. Not shore We would want to stay muxh longer than we did due to the private bathroom being down the hall. Staff were all great and our facilities were clean and comfortable. The noise from the bar below didn't bother us; it was kate when we arrived back from family. All in all, great value for money,

We were in room three and there was mold all around the bay window.

Staff were very helpful, kind and accommodating, room was very clean and tidy and the kettle and tea and milk provided was a lovely and very welcome touch!

Had to swap rooms as the radiator didn't work properly so I was a little cold the first night, and it woke me up in the middle of the night with the noise! The staff were brilliant and helpful though and the room I was swapped to was nicer, bigger and didn't have an external bathroom but an en suite.

The breakfast was very good 👍 My Son lives in Rothwell we came for his birthday,so this was a ideal location to stay the night and the room was better than expected.

The noise from bar bering in mind England was playing and the young lads were very excited but all were courteous, The noise finished at 11pm but we were very tired and went to sleep and had good nights rest and woke in morning refreshed 😴

Location great, easy to find. Staff very friendly and helpful. Was originally going to be put on second floor of accommodation but they kindly changed us to 1st floor as I have problem with stairs. Food selection very good and reasonable price for the quality

I booked this as a B&B but was disappointed to find we had to pay for breakfast which we found very pricey and not that good value for the price....2x breakfasts plus tea and coffee for £24.50 is very expensive. Making the total cost of just under £80 for one night stay. The booking info is misleading.

The room was clean and lovely, comfortable bed and they gave us a family room.

These are not big issues but just to let management know: the window blinds were not working sufficiently (not able to close, open or draw) - thus was mentioned but not rectified. I noticed stains on the duvet but I didn't say anything, it wasn't a big deal.
