Walking distance to open air theatre, reasonably priced food and drinks, not hectic

There’s no tables suitable for eating meals in the bar so had to have fish and chips balancing on our laps. Was definitely freezer/microwave food too.

The hotel was nice, breakfast was good, good to have the parking space at £8.00 a night. We informed the receptionist on arrival one small dog paid the £10.00 charge, although I was told you are not allowed to leave the dog in the room, at any time, must be with you at all times, after a good day out we were unable to visit the restaurant we had booked for dinner., had to cancel due to this rule. Stayed in many pet friendly hotels in Scarborough, never heard this before, if this is the rule of the hotel, it would. be helpful to state pets must be with you all the time to avoid any disappointment on arrival.

Location was excellent for Scarborough Open Air Theatre, both beaches, restaurants and shops. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was clean, comfortable and a lot bigger than we expected. Sea view was brilliant. Room came with extra pillows, ironing board, iron, hairdryer, radiator and a fan. Reserving a parking space was easy and worth an extra £8. Also had a seagull friend who sat on the lamppost outside quite often! We would definitely stay here again!

It was very warm in our room. Wished more windows would have opened. There was only 1 window that could be opened a few inches. No shampoo or conditioner in the bathroom. Coffee machine wouldn’t work.

The location of the hotel was ideal for what we needed. The hotel itself was nothing less than 10 out of 10. From the moment we checked in until the time we checked out, the staff were very helpful and cheerful. The room 232, was clean, comfortable and well equipped with an iron, hairdryer, ironing board and an additional heater if needed. There were also spare pillows and blankets. The room was very cosy and tastefully decorated with plenty of floorspace. The shower was nice and warm and powerful. There was a kettle and the tea, coffee etc was well stocked. Plus there's a fridge. Towels, were nice and soft, without any stains or marks, as was the bedding. The communal areas were well kept, the decor was modern and plenty of seating areas should you want to relax. The bar area was very inviting, prices were reasonable for both food and drinks. We didn't sample the food, but it looked nice, good size portions and people could be heard saying how nice it was. We travelled with our dog. This hotel and the staff are very dog friendly and let's just say my dog was never short of attention from staff and other guests. We would definitely stay again.

The lift was great if you struggled with the stairs as I can do if the bags are heavy/awkward. However I did find it a bit difficult to access due to the location/positioning of the door which was quite heavy.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Clifton. We literally booked very last minute as the accommodation we had originally booked was not what we were expecting. The reception staff were fantastic nothing was too much trouble. They got us sorted with car parking and everything straight away. We booked a “small room”. Don’t know what was small about it. It was plenty big enough. Absolutely spotlessly clean and had everything you could want in there. From a fan if it’s too warm to a spare heater if it’s too cold, coffee making facilities. Tassimo coffee maker. Toiletries, lovely clean towels. We heard it has recently had a major refurbishment and it shows. Lovely clean hotel. We took our dog. She was made to feel very welcome. Treats galore for her. She loved it. The hotel is situated at the top of North Bay with amazing views (when the fog cleared). It’s a lovely place to get up and take your dog for a walk in the morning. It’s well away from the night noise of Scarborough town centre and a lovely walk into Scarborough on the front. You can buy breakfast if you want or just get a bacon/sausage/egg sandwich at very reasonable prices All in all I would definitely recommend this place. We’ve booked to go again between Christmas and New Year. Cannot rate the welcome and staff enough.

Staff at the hotel were very friendly, polite and helpful. The hotel looks a little untidy on the outside and could do with a bit of touching up, but inside the hotel was clean and tidy. Our room was really nice and the bathroom nice and modern. We were quite surprised at the overall quality of the hotel considering how much we paid for the stay. Would stay there again and can recommend.

The lift- you are forever reliant on previous occupants shutting the inner lift door or else the lift doesn't run. Three times over the weekend we found the lift inner door had been left open but for us luckily it was on the floor we were on- would have been annoying if it wasn't though.

Loved the space, location and first impressions were out of this world. The staff are outstanding friendly. Knowledgeable and cater for everything. The room size and view was perfect for us.

Upon arrival the room was cold had to turn heating on. The bed appeared to have a dip in the left side, some housekeeping not done but with 80 rooms you can’t really complain. One feedback I’d give is to remove the hotel rules from the guest room and have it generally up. It made me feel nervous as it stated a lot of what will happen if things go wrong. As a first impression we didn’t like it. .

We were welcomed at the Clifton by the friendly Manager, Julie Vinson. We arrived early, not expecting to check in, but just park the car, but as our room was ready we could check in early which was simple. We had room 009, which was ground floor but had patio doors leading to a small outdoor area with a bench which was nice due to the weather. You do leave your keys when you leave the hotel, for health and safety reasons, but it is quick to pick them up when you return. Reservation parking was available for our stay, £8 per day, and guests have a reservation sign in the bay to secure your space. We were staying for 2 nights but decided to stay one extra night. As our room was available, the Manager extended our stay in the same room. Our room was a little small but for 3 nights it was fine, the room was clean, freshly decorated, bathroom was clean with an excellent shower. We found the beds were very comfy. Towels are provided with 2 little bottles of shampoo and body wash and soap for hand washing. In the wardrobe there is a fan, which we used as it was quite hot, there are additional blankets and even a heater for the winter. There is also a hairdryer in the room. We had breakfast one morning, there was the usual choice of cereals, fruit, toast, coffee, the orange juice was lovely, we had a full English and the food was of a very good quality. All the staff are very friendly, the cleaners obviously work hard due to the immaculate rooms and surrounding areas and restaurant. We would recommend and definitely return. Room was a bit small, but not really a negative due to the cleaniness.

Lovely reception staff very helpful. Breakfast staff lady on the door taking room number pretty rude tbh. Let dien all of the other staff. Rooms very comfortable. One of the cheats I didn’t remember her make was so helpful with our bags as we had loads and couldn’t manage she carried some fur us. Very nice lady. Bar staff not great tbh. Not much smiling to welcome you to the bar. Breakfast was very nice

Breakfast finished too early when you’re having a leisurely lie in on holiday a bit if a rush. We were told when booking breakfast was later by the booking company not the hotel. We went turn one morning and had our breakfast not realising it finished in 15 minute. We payed at reception but were not told it was finishing in 15 minutes. We only had cereal and coffee. Everything was chested away and when we asked if it was possible for some toast the sane lady who took out room number abruptly told my husband no. She was pretty rude which was disappointing as the reception staff were very nice indeed.
