I slept very well here. I think that’s because it has a nice relaxed vibe. Felt like I was at home (in a good way) and I genuinely woke up briefly thinking I was :D It’s quirky but not the contrived designer type quirky, it’s the real deal. Reminds me of when I had to renovate my first home and got a lot of my stuff from a reclamation yard, I repurposed bit’s n bobs for this n that. It feels a bit cobbled together in the very best possible way. Loved that. If you’re someone who like’s scrupulously scrubbed boutique style hotel accommodation this isn’t going to be for you. If you like to feel you’re staying with relatives, you know the good ones that you enjoyed staying with when you were a kid, then you will probably enjoy this. Good location. Set at approximately the right price point. Would have liked to stay longer and would stay here again.

The pillows were flat and fairly hard. Time for some replacements.

Our large room was comfortable- the bathroom was lovely and warm but no shower, so good to check on this before booking. The lodge is very quirky, the hosts were very welcoming. Breakfast was very tasty - you sit around big tables in the converted stables which may not suit everyone. The location is great - right on the A1 but you don't hear the traffic with the windows closed. Great for visiting Alnwick and the coast.

I think it was pricey, we paid more per night compared to other places on our road trip that were actually better, I guess you are paying for the location, which admittedly is very good for visiting lots of nearby places.

Rustic charm. Peter and Evelyn were a delightful couple and their staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast and choice. Clean and very comfortable. Lounge also comfortable and welcoming with real fire in the evening.

Tired in places. No clear sign what to do on arrival. Nobody at reception - guided by other guests to owners front door . The single room off of reception not ideal as adjacent to lounge for visitors to use. Being an older property we were woken early by people moving on creaky floor above and noise of water through pipes. Proved tricky crossing A1 as pampas grass on front verge of property does obstruct view of oncoming traffic at speed from the north.

This isn't your typical hotel. The lodge is a beautiful, historic building with a lot of character and great caretakers. The cooked breakfast was great, the room was clean, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The lodge is not located in Alnwick itself, but is only a few minutes' drive from the town along the motorway. The grounds around the property are lovely.

Since this is a historic property, there may be some inconveniences for taller guests staying on the upper floor (low ceilings), but it is all part of the experience.

Location is great, only 10 minutes drive into Alnwick. Property is old and interesting with history and oodles of character. Lots of quirks and unique features. Lovely change from the usual run of the mill b&b’s. The owners are really friendly but not intrusive, they made us feel like friends rather than paying guests. Staff are polite, friendly and attentive.

Well the things we loved about it were also the “cause” of our didn’t likes! Our room (calf pen) on the ground floor was damp, it had no wardrobe (one hook for longer hanging items and a rod under a shelf for shorts and tops). Quite a high step up to get into the shower. One ‘wall’ was all glass so quite a lot of early morning light came in. As I said - all due to it being a conversion of an old building. Just wish it had a bit more physical comforts and it would be perfect.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Alnwick Lodge Hotel, and it was a truly delightful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the impressive building and the charming, quirky items scattered throughout. It wasn't long before we discovered the rich history of the place and learned that the owner is an antique restorer, which added an extra layer of charm to our stay. The hotel is impeccably maintained, and the hospitality is top-notch. Every morning, we looked forward to a delicious breakfast, with the option of a hearty full English or a variety of continental choices. The location of the lodge is perfect, and we appreciated the recommendation to take the scenic route to some of the local attractions. One of the highlights was the tranquil atmosphere of the property itself. Wandering around the grounds, we enjoyed the company of friendly chickens, a farm cat, and a dog, which made the experience even more special and relaxing. Overall, our stay at the Alnwick Lodge Hotel was memorable and enjoyable. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and welcoming place to stay.

Loved the quirkiness of the property. The children loved the chair on the house roof as we drove along the drive, the hens with chicks and rooster. Lovely little round window in the East Granary became a reading seat. Our beds were very comfortable. It’s a great place to access all surrounding areas so long as you’re happy to drive. We liked the breakfast arrangement of large tables so we could meet other guests but there was a drawback (see below). Lovely staff, very helpful and accommodating.

I was surprised at the remoteness as we would have liked to walk to nearby places, but unable to do so with such a busy road. We would have welcomed something onsite for children (small play area). A small step in the room would have been useful for the 7 year old to access the high bed. Arrived at breakfast on our 2nd day to find nowhere for 3 to sit together due to other guests leaving a seat vacant between parties. Had to come back later by which time there were just crusts left in the bread basket. Fortunately our lovely server found us some bread.

We liked the friendly owners and staff. We liked the breakfast and the fact they have decaffeinated tea or coffee. We enjoyed chatting with other guests in the lounge. My husband especially enjoyed keeping the fire going. The room was clean and cosy. The building was quirky and quaint. Great location to get to Amble, Alnmouth, Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle etc by car.

It was a shame we had to drive everywhere but we knew that. We weren't keen on the large tables for breakfast , but it did mean we chatted to other guests. Due to the location we wouldn't go again for 5 nights, maybe a shorter stay . We'd choose somewhere in Alnwick so we could walk to pubs and restaurants. My husband couldn't use the shower due to bathroom been in the eaves.. He's 6ft. Description said seating and TV in rooms. Only one chair so not ideal for a couple room wasn't big enough for seating for 2.

Beautiful and charming property with lots of character in the rooms. Plenty of space and comfy bed. We travelled as a family and had two adjacent rooms which were perfect for us. Breakfast fantastic, lots of parking. Host was really helpful and friendly. We loved hearing and learning about the history of the house and the love that had gone into preserving it. The hotel/b&b was great.

The house is adjacent to the A1, getting in and out from a very fast road wasn't for me. I could hear the road during the night, but I am a light sleeper so this may not be the same for others.

This property exceeded our expectations. The very large room was very comfortable and well organised, plenty of space for clothes. Nice bathroom. bed very comfortable. Whole property was beautifully decorated and well thought out. We had five nights so felt very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, staff happy to accommodate our choices. Large tables meant we joined other guests so interesting to share our holiday experiences. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Great location off the A1 to get to all the tourist sites.
