Location brilliant- absolutely central, next to the church and its lovely grounds. The view from sitting area over the main street and the rooftops. The generous coffee/tea selection

Wi-fi was not straightforward. I was told to click on the hotel free wi-fi. Perhaps I misunderstood but this appeared to involve a payment to a provider I didn't know. Ended up not using my laptop as intended. My booking was not straightforward. I was wanting a single room but - because it was the folk festival weekend and everywhere was full - the only thing available was a 'Superior Double'. Expensive for one person - but of itself good value. For a couple and/or a family it would be excellent.

I was really surprised by the decor and general facilities in my room, especially in view of the pub being 600 years old. I have stayed in similar listed buildings and the attention to detail in the decoration especially a really deep pile carpet was brilliant. The food was certainly up to four star hotel quality and things like having hot chocolate in the selection of drinks in the rooms was exceptional. What I also apreciated was the friendliness of all the staff. The Sussex Best recommended by the Landlord was truely special and I can't wait for another oppotunity to return.

I really can't fault the pub and certainly wish that more four star hotels were as good!

The room was comfortable, clean and quirky (very old building, so our bathroom had a dramatic slope in the floor which was pretty fun to slide down in socks). The building itself was very cool, tons of character. The manager and senior staff were excellent - attentive, helpful and charming. Breakfast was generous with a good selection.

Food was a little inconsistent, breakfast our second morning was substantially better cooked than our first (although good quality ingredients meant we thoroughly enjoyed both mornings). Our slope-y bathroom was fun, but a slightly grippier flooring would've been appreciated (no shower curtain so we didn't dare use the shower and turn the floor into a literal water slide). Would absolutely stay again though!

The breakfast was very good, it was a wee bit of a shame that they had run out of some of the stuff listed, bacon! However the staff did their best to offer alternatives. We were very grateful for the loan of the caffiteiere to make real coffee for our flask. They did offer to make it for us, but my view was it was 1 less thing to re-pack. I have a spinal injury & I can honestly say - that it was 1 of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in - THANK YOU

THE HAIR DRYER - please get 1 that simply switches on and off - having to hold a button is extremely difficult for many folks to do, whilst trying to style their hair. Small detail - but the bath was too high. i needed my hubbie to help me in and out. Perhaps you could look at putting a handrail up, to give one a bit more stability.

The pub was beautiful. Quirky and quaint. Tenterden is a beautiful place with lots of character and charm. The bar food was excellent with lots of choice. The breakfast was also excellent.

The bathroom was cold even after having the heated towel rail on for a long time. The sloped floor in the bathroom took a bit of getting used to but, to be expected in a very old building as too was the macerator toilet! Completely understandable in a building of that age.

I booked a room but actually got the apartment on arrival, which was great as it had a little sitting room with tv, so really nice to chill out. Room was lovely, with comfortable bed and good selection of complimentary teas, coffees, chocolate, water & biscuits. Nice toiletries in the bathroom too. Breakfast selection was huge, as was the actual breakfast, which was delicious! Lovely, helpful staff. Tenterden is a lovely town, with plenty of restaurants and bars/pubs and shops to entertain. Would def stay again.

Shower over bath was very low. Lighting in room wasn't great, a bit dark (which is, of course, expected in an old, low ceiling building) and unimaginative/bland. Would be nice to have a of lamp for softer/cosier lighting in the sitting room & perhaps another to light the dark corner by mirror at dressing table?

Perfect location. Easy to get to Chapel Down Winery. Spacious room with complimentary tea coffee and more. Lovely smelling toiletries. Bed comfortable (but squeaky) lovely fresh linen. Breakfast was superb.

It’s been said so many times before on trip advisor and the owner just shrugs his shoulders as it’s an old listed building but the toilet macerator would/could drive you crazy. It goes off even when you’re not in the bathroom 🤷🏽‍♀️ Booked an evening meal and the food we had was beautiful but only one starter was available!

The staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. The room was comfortable (a few sloping floors, but to be expected in an older property) and quiet. We enjoyed the tasting flight of local sparkling wines. Breakfast was simple (in a positive, un-fussy way), very tasty and had something for all tastes and diets. The location is ideal and the private parking appreciated.

Can't think of anything we didn't like. The floor in our bathroom was very sloped, which might be a problem for some, but wasn't for us.

The noise from the pub travelled up to our room. Excellent friendly staff perfect welcome on arrival. The room was large however the furniture is cheap and needs replacing the chair in the room had marks on it. Lovely toiletries in the room and excellent tea tray the biscuits need replacing daily not just on arrival. Beautiful breakfast but not sure why we only got cereals on the second day and not the first day. I was disappointment they ran out of salmon on the second morning. Perfect location but limited parking in the pub. This is a beautiful village with lots of restaurants and pubs near by. We had a superior room but the shower needs attention the water went all over the floor. Towels replaced daily.

Location was great. Room warm and comfy. Tea/coffee making facilities.

Breakfast very overpriced, £14 each not including coffee/tea. Ordered veggie breakfast, no avocado so was offered spinach in butter. We asked for another sausage instead. We thought half a tomato and half a mushroom was not satisfactory and the hash brown was supposed to be homemade but we're frozen. When we got the bill they had put a £3.60 service charge on! I think £36.60 for 2 small breakfasts and 2 coffees is extortionate. Wouldn't eat there for breakfast again.
