We had a very comfortable time at The George Inn in Longbridge Devrill. The rooms, beds, dinner and breakfast were very good. There were eleven of us and we stayed there for two nights in August 2024. The staff were very friendly and efficient, particularly Alex who, on his first night as shift supervisor(!) had thirteen people turn up for dinner and he managed expertly! In addition, as we had to check out at 06:30 the following morning and miss breakfast, he managed to provide us with whatever we needed as breakfast-to-go! Thank you The George Inn and Alex!

No Complaints.

The room was really lovely and spacious with nice decor. Very comfortable super king sized bed with quality cotton bedding. Everything you needed was there - proper hairdryer, iron and board, smart tv, radio, tea and coffee facilities including a nespresso machine, large smart tv, radio and very useful charging units by the bed. The pub is attractive and authentic inside and the outdoor area by the river very pretty, complete with resident ducks. Having the little hut outside to order food and drink is a great idea.

Nobody available to help with check in when we arrived, they seemed short of staff as the actual pub was busy. When we ordered dinner they had started running out of food options, and also draft drinks (beer/pimms) A good geographical location but can be noisy all night as it is on a main road. The bathroom had a few minor imperfections but certainly functional.

Whoever furnished these rooms really thought about it. Some of the details - like providing USB charging points next to the bedside tables is a great feature for such a small hotel. A Nespresso machine instead of instant coffee - these are really thoughtful things to provide. The basics are also spot on; a great shower and a very comfortable bed! The menu wasn't all the usual predictable stuff; there was some good variety. And the guy who looked after us for our meal - he was articulate, witty, polite and professional...and really good at remembering a drinks order for the next round and keeping an eye on when we were ready to order etc. Top notch service and such a nice chap.

We're just sad that our work meant we had to leave before breakfast!

Good food and drinks - excellent selection of menu items. I ordered from the tapas menu for dinner and had lots of options to choose from. Breakfast was great - lots of different cooked or continental items to choose from. The room was large, comfortable and had everything I needed for a business trip - a desk, plenty of outlets for the laptop, phone, etc and plenty of room to spread out and relax after work. This would be a good stop for exploring the area when not at work, plenty of parking and close to local attractions.

This is only a small issue - the shades in the bedroom allowed a lot of light in early in the morning - otherwise the room was perfect for my needs.

The warm and friendly welcome from staff and the attitude that nothing was too much trouble ……. The room was lovely - really surprised at the four poster bed that was also extremely comfortable and cosy. The shower was heavenly, a nice rainfall head and one that you can take off the stand and use if you are in the bath etc…… decent size mugs for coffee and not just little ones ….. I could carry on with all the good things about the room lol

Only criticism was the carpet had a little damage and so did the ceiling but to be honest it’s not something that bothered us but no doubt someone would moan! Lol other than that there was absolutely nothing to say negatively.

The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The atmosphere and decor was well done and as you would expect in an old English Inn / pub whilst the bedroom was quite modern and very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing with many options to choose from.

Unfortunately the privacy blind in our bedroom was broken which meant it wouldn’t close. On reporting it to the evening staff I was told, “yes we know but a new one has been ordered” ???? I found out next morning that the room we were in was not supposed to have been let until the new blind was installed. This oversight was a bit disappointing, especially considering the window was in full line of sight to traffic coming up the road with lights on high beam through the night. In the end, a bit of Aussie bush ingenuity saved the nights sleep but I shouldn’t have had too. Would it stop us staying there again? No, as we realise this was something out of the ordinary but the fact there was no offer of a change of room at the start was a quite disappointing.

We had stayed once before many years ago and it was so bad we had never returned, despite visiting the area frequently. On this occasion it was the only hotel we could find in the area that could accommodate us, so we reluctantly booked. Our poor expectations immediately disappeared when we entered and were greeted by a young barman and then taken to our room. The whole place had changed and it will now be our hotel of choice on future visits. Excellent room with very comfortable four-poster bed, chaise-longue and desk. Excellent cooked breakfasts. One morning we needed to leave at eight o'clock, as breakfast was starting, so were invited to take items from the continental breakfast board including croissants, pains-au-chocolat etc. to eat as we went. We had one dinner with our granddaughter which was squeezed in between a rehearsal and performance of a concert. A table was reserved on a "maybe" basis and our meal which was very good was served quickly. Exactly what we needed. Staff were excellent. all were helpful, polite and friendly.

A shower mat would have been useful.

The room was lovely - very clean with cosy decor. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. We took part in the pub quiz in the evening which was great fun. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We also ate in the restaurant in the evening - the food was lovely and service efficient.

Breakfast was a little disappointing as it took over an hour for us to be served our food despite there only being us and another family in the breakfast room. Quality of breakfast was also not great which is a shame as the rest of the food and service we had were excellent!

Fantastically spacious room, with alcove for children - part of same room, but able to separate off by curtains, each part of the room having its own tv. Clean, luxurious and nice bathroom products as well as good stock of tea and coffee facilities. Welcoming dog package appreciated and friendly and welcoming staff, catering to our needs. Also appreciated that on our arrival, we were informed we could still order dinner within a short time frame so we did not go to bed hungry after a long day travelling. We will definitely stay again! Many thanks to the team, you were wonderful!

The journey down (maybe slightly outside of the control of the George Inn team though 😂)
