Came for a weekend break to see York and the Christmas market, this hotel was perfect, less than 5 minute walk to the city walls, room was comfortable, had everything we needed for the four of us. Tea, Coffee available with refills out in the lobby to help yourself to. The gentleman that checked us in, was really friendly and helpful, gave us some information leaflets and helped carry bags up to our room. Would highly recommend.
We booked the room for 4 and guessed looking at the pictures we would be in the roof, which was fine for us as we are all quite fit, even my 79 yr old mum however be aware there is no lift and its a tall building, (54 stairs I think my mum counted)

As other reviews mentioned, location is perfect for the city centre with a very short walk and easy parking. Located close to the top rated breakfast cafe in York, and within 10 minutes walk to all the main attractions.
The attic family room had a slight sewage smell as if there was a cracked pipe somewhere underneath the floor. For one night and warm enough to leave the window open it wasn't a problem but probably something which will need to be looked at maintenance-wise. Or it could have been due to a previous occupant ignoring the rules about not flushing anything that could get stuck - those signs were in all the toilets in York!

Great location by monkbar, easy to find and reasonable parking facilities. Staff were friendly and gave us a reusable coupon for money off breakfast. Lots of travel guides available for guests. As it wasn't busy, we also had an upgrade to the room with private bathroom for free.
The heating was generally either off or on really low, so we had to make use of the space heater and extra blankets, which didn't really do the job very well. The bed felt a bit old and lumpy, as did the pillows. Might be time for a refresh. No safe in the room for valuables.

I was in York for a friend’s funeral and wanted to stay somewhere after the event, rather than head back to Manchester. There is another hotel in York with a similar name, the Diamonds Hotel, and I had originally intended to stay there as it is closer to where the wake was being held after the funeral. I booked the hotel about a week in advance (I had seen them both on Booking.com) but I only realised the night before that I had booked this hotel, when I went to check the postcode for my satnav, so do be careful to avoid the same issue I had. Nevertheless, the choice of hotel didn’t matter in the end. The funeral was at 10 am, so luckily I was able to check in about 12 noon as the room was ready. Parking was offered at £7 for 24 hours, a couple of minutes walk away on their private car park across the road and down the street. The gentleman who showed me to my room was friendly and efficient. My room was about on the first floor, facing the main road, but I didn’t hear any traffic noise. I had booked a single room with a shared bathroom. The bathroom was through a door and about six steps away, and I didn’t have any issues queueing for access. There was a sink in the bathroom, along with the wardrobe, a small desk, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The bed was comfortable and the Wi-Fi fast and reliable. Everything was spotlessly clean and of a good standard. No breakfast is provided on-site, but you are just a couple of minutes away from the city centre. The hotel served its purpose for me, and if you are looking for a great value stay in the city centre, I’d highly recommend it.
The car park did feel a little hidden away and is open Access, but that is reflected in the cost. Unfortunately, the card machine in the hotel wasn’t working on arrival so I had to pay cash for the parking. Luckily I had some cash in the car as I don’t usually carry any.

The hotel was only a 10 minute walk from the centre of York, it was very easy to find. We were very impressed on arrival the building was extremely clean and well maintained, we were met by a member of staff who explained the room wasn't ready (it was 11.30am ) but still carried our case upstairs to the room and explained the card system to us. When we arrived back at the hotel our room was ready we found it very clean and very comfortable, we had a large amount of toiletries available to us aswell clean towels and tea, coffee milk, sugars and biscuits, and if we ran out there were sufficient replacements in the hallway. Overall we were very impressed and would definitely booking again when we return to York
To be honest there was very little I didn't like

The facilities were clean, all necessary amenities available, kind staff, very close to the city centre at a very reasonable price!!!
If I had to be nit-picky, as my room window was facing the main road, the sound of traffic was fairly loud, but I didn't mind at all as I'm a deep sleeper.

The lady with whom we spoke by telephone about late check-in and parking arrangements was very helpful, very patient, very reasonable, and very understanding. Diamonds Inn is well located, comfortable accommodation, at a reasonable price.
There could have been more clarity provided upfront about actual face-to-face reception hours or otherwise. Diamonds Inn seems to operate as a contactless guest house (at least when we were there), which is fine, though we had not understood that until we stayed there. This is provided as feedback about a very minor concern; it's not intended as criticism.

Plenty of tea, coffee & sugar for our rooms, with spares at the reception area. Our rooms were a fantastic size and included en suite bathrooms. On arrival, we were shown our rooms, given our key cards and shown how to get in and out of the property properly. Staff were great and very helpful with parking. They provided lots of information booklets for things to do in York, and the history of the area.
We struggled for hot water when our friends used the shower. This is the only problem we encountered. Our stay was fantastic!

Absolutely great price and in a great location, just a few minutes walk from the city centre. Was a great place to stay for a solo traveller as it had a single room with a shared bathroom but locked doors at the front and a lock on your room so you felt secure. Very friendly staff who let me leave my old suitcase which had broken and needed to be replaced.
The only one thing is that the toilet in the shared bathroom sometimes didn’t flush at night. It was like there was an issue with the water.

I can't say enough about the staff, they were very accommodating. I had mailed and Amazon package there and it was there ready for me when I arrived. They allowed us to store our luggage when we were moving about the town during the day that saved us a lot of unnecessary effort. The accommodations were clean.
Her room was stifling hot when we arrived. We had to open a window and make sure the heat was turned off. Also there were beams along the roof that you can easily hit your head on when getting up during the night.
