Charmingly quirky grounds with fire pits. Nice staff and clean rooms. The Sideways Lounge is a bar/hangout with a modified Airstream trailer in the parking lot service sausages and other pub fare. They allow pets, which is a plus for some folks, but not so great if you don't like barking dogs in the middle of the night.

The breakfast is delivered to your room after filling out an online form but the options seemed 'low budget' and unattractive, (packaged pastry and oatmeal, etc.) so we went out to eat. The rain head shower had little pressure and resulted in a less than great shower experience. They don't make up rooms and if you want new towels you have to go to the lobby to get them. The entrance is right at an intersection with the highway onramp and can be a bit tricky. It's best to pass the poorly marked driveway and flip a U to make a right turn into the hotel. Also there's a secret back entrance to the west of the gas station if you're up for a short off-road experience.

Price! Great rate for the type of room. Room is large with a sitting area. Pet fee is very fair. Location! Walking distance to restaurants. Quick drive to wine tasting and more restaurants. Close to so many cool places-Solvang, Santa Ynez, Los Olivos, Los Alamos and Lompoc. Staff! Friendly and very helpful. Lots of parking. Complimentary breakfast. Choice of a chocolate or glazed doughnut or bagel or boiled egg or oatmeal. Hi ice of fruit and juice . Plus dog treats. Unique little touch. Lounge on property. Nice area to walk next door at Flying Flags. Water and dog treats in the lobby. Coffee and tea for the humans.

Our room was situated on the freeway side so can be noisy. Furniture is starting to show its age. The sofa was in bad shape. Lots of holes in the material.

Room was pretty clean, the hotel is pretty Pet friendly, I appreciate the Dog stations very much, The gardens around the Pool and Jacuzzi were pretty and inviting The restaurant was very inviting, and the menu was nice. I appreciate the fact my husband got his shoes back after forgetting it there.

The Floor in the bathroom was not very clean, could be better mopped. There was just one chair in the room, to have a breakfast, I had to seat in the chaise, and the choices very strange. I could not have a Muffing and my husband an oatmeal. There was both muffins and both Oatmeal. The Jacuzzi jets keep stopping and the water turn on murky.

I loved the look of this hotel, so cute. We had a balcony room and it was gorgeous. I loved the decoration and how clean everything was. They offered breakfast in the morning too straight to your door.

The front desk attendant when we checked in was a little rough, not sure if he was having a bad day, but it showed. The location is right off the highway which was fine, but its located right behind a gas station car wash so we kept hearing the car wash alarm for most of the night. This probably wouldn't matter for rooms towards the back of the property (we were in the front).

Rooms are too dark with drapes closed. How about adding privacy blinds to let light in so you can enjoy the daylight but no one can see in. Also the outside lighting can be bothersome when sleeping. Maybe a pulled down blackout shade for the door. No decaf tea pods in room. Some equipment was not working in the gym. Are there other fill stations on the premises? Would like a bigger mat for the shower. Water sprays all over the floor when showering. How about outside door mat to get dirt off shoes before entering room? Maybe a bit of cream cheese to go with the complimentary breakfast bagel.

Easy access, nice staff, clean rooms. It would be nice if your knock & drop breakfast bags included napkins! 🙂

The TV reception was terrible, and we wanted to watch some of the Olympics, but it was almost impossible. We were there 4 nights in August, room 134, please get a technician to adjust the cables. We have stayed here at least 10 times, and every TV in every room we've stayed in has had poor reception. Otherwise, we love the place, except that your prices have really crept up.

The staff was very friendly upon arrival and checkout and our room was wonderful, clean, the shower head was extra high for my tall husband and the water pressure was excellent especially for a hotel. I love that our room was right on the pool the jacuzzi was nice and hot and we utilized the fire pit after purchasing a s’mores kit in the lobby for my daughter. We will definitely stay here again!

The employees at the bar connected to the estate were less than friendly. Sent my friend in 22 minutes before closing time to ask if they had a simple Shirley temple and the guy while having conversation with the 4 gentlemen sitting at the bar still drinking and busy, rudely gestured to her that they are closed and then yelled it when she didn’t understand his brushed off gesturing. It’s at no fault to the hotel but when they give credit for the establishment I’d hope I’m recommending somewhere with decent staff.

We loved how accessible everything was. Front lobby was open and helpful anytime of day. The gym was awesome, full of any gym equipment you might need. The bar was top notch, and reasonably priced. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We did not get a chance to eat there, but having food available is a great option should you want a quick bite to eat while on location. We also, did not use the fire pits while there. However, when they were lit closer to evening time they were pretty to look at. The pool was also a welcomed amenity on the hot summer day. The complimentary continental breakfast was a welcomed treat in the morning as we started our day. I really like how they deliver it to your room. They give you a choice of: (donut, croissant, English muffin or hard boild egg) with a fruit: (apple or orange), juice: (cranberry or orange), and if you are traveling with a dog, there is an option for a dog treat for them, too. They give you 2 free comp breakfasts. If you have more than 2 people in your room, you can purchase more. It's super easy to order, you just scan the QR code in the room. There was plenty of parking when we went, in mid- August. We read reviews where they said the entrance was hard to get to off the free way, but I found that once you pulled off the freeway just turn into the shell parking lot and go behind it, there is an alley way that takes you right into the front parking lot of the Sideways Inn. Before I discovered the backway entrance into the parking lot, I turned into the gas station parking lot and made a small U turn to go right down the front driveway of the Sideways Inn. Otherwise, if you miss the signage the first time, you can go down a ways and make a U turn to come back up the street to turn into the driveway to the Inn. The entrance of the Inn is located right next to the freeway. Overall was a great experience, and would definitely book again.

The bathroom shower set up was subpar. Our room had a walk in shower that had no door, just one small glass pain. So even though you had a full length shower space, you could only use the small area under the shower head. Otherwise, you would flood the rest of the bathroom floor if you used the rest of the space. It was fine once under the water, but if you moved away from the water the rest of the shower space was cold. I hope they rethink the shower set up, as I'd like to stay there again, but (for me) shower comfort was a thumbs down. 👎

Location, staff, ease of ordering breakfast through the app.

-Breakfast was plain: a large roll of glazed donut, orange fruit, and orange juice. It'd be nest to have more options. -The door to the shower is only halfway...not sure what happened there. The floor ends up getting flooded after a shower.

Rooms were comfortable and updated. Staff in the lobby were always helpful. We liked the order ahead breakfast and delivery to the room.

We were in room 226 and loved everything about it except it was so close to the staff cleaning area that we heard staff/carts rolling earlier than our wake time. However, we understand that they need to do their job, so it was not a problem.
