Beautiful property. The grounds and house were carefully manicured and very tastefully decorated. This is a B and B. The breakfasts were outstanding. Chris and his entire staff were welcoming, very friendly and service oriented. Parking is available on site which is a huge advantage in busy Bar Harbor. This was our first visit to Maine. This stay was a highlight. We will look forward to returning.

Everything was great!

My husband and I LOVED staying here for our honeymoon🤍 The room was so clean, spacious, charming, and we loved the fireplace. The decor both in the rooms and in the common areas was beautiful. The ambiance was 1000/10. Just staying in the room and relaxing was an activity in of itself. Everything that you would want to do in Bar Harbor is walking distance from the inn. Breakfast and tea time treats were all homemade, and outstanding (my personal favorite was the orange blondie and the chocolate cake with almond frosting) The innkeeper, Chris, is so kind and welcoming. He gave us recommendations of restaurants to go to (we came in late October so many places were closed), and every single place he recommended was excellent. We felt so comfortable here and had a very hard time leaving this beautiful place….we will be back soon, and I can’t wait 🤍

Nothing at all. Everything was perfect

The location of the Inn was great with easy walking into town for access to restaurants. The Inn also has parking which is a plus in busy downtown Bar Harbor. The staff was very friendly and personable and worked to make us feel welcome, and the public spaces are beautifully decorated. In warmer weather, sitting on the porch or in the beautifully landscaped outside spaces to watch the world go by would have been enjoyable. Easy access to Acadia National Park is another selling point and reason for staying at the Inn for more than one night. Breakfast was a special cooked meal with a choice of 2 options, which is a sign to me that the staff takes the B&B aspect seriously.

We booked only a week out during a semi-busy season, but felt our room was quite small and simple for the price we were charged. The bed took up the entire room with only one chair, so the space was not conducive to a private retreat.

Sand bar cottage inn is a charming, historical home located near most of the restaurants, shops, and attractions in Bar Harbor. When we arrived late Tuesday evening, we were able to walk to the famous sand bar at low tide, grab dinner on the bay, and relax with other guests on the spacious front porch at the inn. The next two days, we enjoyed the delicious breakfast, ,met more guests, and spent the day in Acadia National Park before music in the garden and dinner in town. Our time was too brief at the inn! We will be back. Thanks to Chris and Zac for making our stay incredible.

Recommendations for dinner …

My husband and I spent a weekend at Sand Bar Cottage Inn for our baby moon and my birthday and we absolutely loved it. We ended up asking to change our room and Chris was wonderful and made the change for us. We were so happy with our new room which was very spacious, cozy, clean and had a great hot tub. The breakfast was delicious and Chris was always available and checking on us. The location is also great, and we’re able to walk to the restaurants. We were sad to leave but definitely planning on coming back.

The older rooms are small and could use some update.

Our stay at Sand Bar Cottage in Bar Harbor was absolutely wonderful, thanks in large part to the amazing host, Chris. He went above and beyond to make our visit special, offering great recommendations and always being available for any questions we had. We loved it so much that we asked to stay an extra day! One of our favorite memories was sitting out on the charming porch, chatting with other guests and enjoying the lovely ambiance. Chris has truly created a special place, and we can't wait to return. Highly recommended!

Truly one of the best stays I’ve ever had in my years of traveling. From check-in to check-out, it was always a great experience. I stayed in the cottage house on the property in the Acadia Cottage West room. The room was very spacious, clean, and had its own AC unit. The breakfast was phenomenal. Every morning there were 2 options: 1 sweet and 1 savory. I was also introduced to blueberry coffee which is now my new favorite. They also had “tea time” during the day with small delicious pastries. The best part of my entire stay was the kindness and hospitality from Chris, Joshua, and Mariah. If I come back to Bar Harbor, this is the only place I will stay at!

The staff were all so welcoming and really made our stay a memorable one. We loved the breakfast each morning and they were willing and able to accommodate my gluten allergy. I’ve never met such cheerful, kind people who bend over backwards to make sure your stay is everything you hoped for! Eggs, pancakes, stuffed French toast and frittatas. After a busy day it was relaxing to return for afternoon tea on the front porch (also great for people watching). The inn is so clean and there’s plenty of room to relax. Walking distance to all the best restaurants and the waterfront. We’ll definitely return to this Bar Harbor gem.

Would’ve loved some ottomans in our room (Acadia Southeast) but the room itself was very nice.

The entire property is beautiful and impeccably maintained. Fresh flowers, unique artwork, delicious 5-star breakfasts, our room was large, nicely furnished, and the king size bed was extremely comfortable. The friendly staff made us feel at home immediately upon arrival and throughout our stay. They provided many spot-on local recommendations and were experts on very nearby Acadia National Park.
