Easy to find and in a perfect location to really enjoy Airlie beach. You are on the high road so a few minutes walk away from the bars and clubs and everything on there you want to see. You can also get to the lagoon in about 3-4 minutes and bide your days away there - recommended! All the tours also pickup from outside this hostel which is massively ideal - I went on a helicopter reef tour and a Whitsundays boat tour which were both fantastic. The reception staff were lovely on the whole though I did face some defensive attitude when I enquired about the hostel "party reputation" and if there was a noise policy at all. While it is a party hostel I have come across other Nomads with a 11pm off you go the clubs policy - good to know when going to sleep if you need your earplugs or not. As it turned out it was a lovely mix of party atmosphere in the adjacent pub on the high street while a bit more chill near where the rooms are. I enjoyed being able to access both. Shout out to the staff on cleaning, they come round each day and were putting their all into it. The rooms and bathrooms were so clean and they were friendly, smiley and cheerful as well. Hats off to you all! The rooms themselves are set up in this unexpected but fabulous holiday village / campsite style with lots of log cabin esk buildings set up down a path and around a couple of swimming pools and social areas. The cabin I was in had 2 rooms of 8 with some benches set up outside for you to sit and relax...and dry your wet swimwear on ;) from your days out on the reef! Inside there was lots of space for the 8 regular metal bunk beds and there was a clean adjacent bathroom with 2 showers and a toilet for each room. The access was again by e-card via the same app I've used at other hostels in Australia so easy peasy! Beds were comfy and set up well, no complaints at all. Natural light comes in from the windows at the front.

Grumpy front of house staff wasn't the best start to the stay but after that all was amazing!

The staff in reception were fantastic! Upon check in, the lovely female receptionist told us our room was at the very back of the complex so a bit of a walk away and on the ground floor. She advised there was a room of the same type closer to the amenities and upstairs if we wanted to switch which I appreciated so much and we took her up on the offer. (Because we liked the room so much we actually ended up extending another 2 nights!) The private room was very spacious, had a big tv and a large bathroom. Location is great, seconds to the high street and there’s bus stops outside for getting to the marina/greyhound if you have lots of bags or can’t be bothered to walk! Amenities were a good size and had everything you needed, plus it had Boatys which did food and drinks along with an event for the hostel every night.

Our bathroom was a bit run down (age) with the taps dripping even when tightened fully, the windows didn’t open and no fan so it got damp and it needed a bit of a deeper clean. Also there were broken floor tiles that moved if you stood on them which needed to be fixed. Also (not the hostels fault, just our experience) our neighbours next door played ear splittingly loud techno music until about 1am and then started again at 7am so a bit of lack of respect for other guests.

I stayed a few nights in a dorm, it was pretty nice, a good size. I then stayed a few nights in a private room which was lovely! Neither were particularly cheap but the facilities are good.

The WiFi is awful, it doesn’t reach the rooms and I had to spend more money on data because I had to use my 4G the whole time I was there. I thought it was just my phone but lots of people had the same issue. Also the kitchen is not clean in comparison to other hostels, the ‘clean’ cutlery and plates and bowls were often dirty and pots and pans were left poorly washed some even with food still in. The sinks and washing up area isn’t great- don’t even have sponges just dirty cloths

We stayed in a private en suite room - this was very spacious with a walk in closet & basic kitchenette area. Huge smart TV and comfort bed with nice clean bedding. The complex is huge but very well maintained. We didn’t use the shared kitchen but it looked big and clean. We quickly nipped into the shared bathroom unit on our way out & were surprised with how clean & well kept it was. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend.

The bathroom was a little dated but nonetheless staff cleaned it very well before our arrival..

It was a spacious room with a very comfortable king-size bed and basic kitchen- sink, fridge, electric kettle. It was a short walk to the Main Street of Airlie and the foreshore. The staff responded immediately with a brand new fridge and shower rose when I alerted them to the fact that the fridge was making an awful noise and had to be turned off for me to to get to sleep, and the shower rose was behaving like a tap.

The room had a strange unpleasant smell and the bottom of the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor.

Really social, has a bar and cafe attached, huge hostel with pools and tennis and activities. Big clean dorms, amazing location.

Kitchen got dirty very quickly. Not many indoor hang out areas that you aren’t expected to buy something (it rained for 2 days when I was there) hard to find somewhere to sit other than the room when it’s raining.

The location was perfect, right on the top end of the high street and close to a number of great restaurants and bars. Only a few minutes walking distance to the lagoon, too! The pools were great, and the fact the rooms are individual little houses made it even nicer. The rooms were really spacious and clean, too!

The main kitchen was quite unclean, but the small side kitchen further down was much better!

The room was spacious, clean, private and good value for money. The whole hostel felt like a resort with lots of activity. Staff were very accommodating. Good hot water.

The kitchenette in the room could have been a bit better equipped...and it was difficult to find a sharp knife in the main kitchen. It was necessary to request a blanket, (and I'm not sure the Air con would have done much to cool the room if it was summer)? A common room would have been nice. Maybe a bed lamp and power outlet near the bed would have been a bonus.

The cleanness of the place, they were all the time cleaning the kitchen, the rooms every morning. And the personal were very nice, all foreign, backpackers with an amazing vibe and keen to help you with everything. Specially the Peruvian girl at the reception, she was the best! Johanna. Thanks for all your help and good vibe!.

Location is right on the beach, the private room was perfect with a king sized bed, AC and a smart tv. The staff at the property are super friendly and very helpful when booking your boat trips, tours, taxis etc. We had a seamless experience checking in with a staff member, Teegan. We will definitely stay at nomads again.
