The room was nice, with a very large and comfy bed. However the spa bath jets did not work and the tile grout in the bathroom is stained. It needs bleaching to remove what looks like brown mud stains around the bottom of the bath. The breakfast was also disappointing. It should include a barrista made coffee. The bread did not fit in the toaster properly and was hard to get back out. The scrambled eggs were good but the hash browns looked like they had been cooked in very old deep frying oil and were very dark and tasted bad. The steak we had the night before was cooked well and delicious. But salad should be included not an extra for $48.
I wrote everything in the above box.

A really charming and picturesque spot with unique features, especially the beautifully kept grounds. Stunning views all round to enjoy such as the adjoining lake with lit up fountain at night. Lots of options for lounging inside or outside, with themed decor, including a Christmas wonderland and a meet and greet with Santa. Hospitality staff went above and beyond to cater to any dietary requirements. Lodge room was cosy with a rustic charm and good value for money. The location was closer to Sovereign Hill than Ballarat Town Centre but a bus to Ballarat Station runs just outside the Hotel. Out of all the Mercure's we've stayed at, this one was particularly unique.
The Rooms could use a spruce up and the Reception experience upon arrival could have been a little more personable. There were sometimes large groups around in the Convention Centre but the Hotel grounds are so vast that you can easily find a quiet spot somewhere so as to avoid the crowds. The bar and breakfast restaurant could offer a greater selection of food and drink but the service staff were very helpful in trying to cater to individual needs.

The whole surrounding area is beautiful and has a resort style feel. Check in was quick and friendly. Parking was good. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was huge. Blinds were great. Love places that have, hand towels, face washers and bath mats avaialable and that use bath sheets. Plenty of power points, which is always handy. Secure room key access to building. Movies on demand to watch, with new ones I haven't seen yet.
Watching TV, channel 7 was constantly glitchy. Having a fan in the bathroom would help, as there are no opening windows anywhere in the bathroomn and eery surface, as well as clothes become damp. It was very noisy when people were coming and going from our building, with the main door and room doors slamming shut. Maybe some soft close solutions, might be in order.

Location: proximity to Sovereign Hill is excellent. Room 6: our initial room and bed-lamps for both beds. Room 6 to 5: staff provided assistance moving to another room that had a working tv + given a bottle of wine for the inconvenience of having to relocate to another room. Room 5: room we transferred to had 2 separate bedrooms which was an upgrade for us. Décor: old world feel created with dark furniture and warm lighting which created a welcoming ambience. Bathroom: low level light over vanity is welcomed, as most lights are blinding during the night + mirror height positioned to be suitable for tall and short people. Carport: Great to have the car under cover especially in winter. On site restaurant: Azzuri is excellent. Great food. Great ambience with wood fire going. I would definitely stay here again. We were there in winter so didn’t use the pool or gym. Very quiet. Great to have the car under cover and not have to scrape ice off in the morning.
Room 6: our initial room, tv was not working and we transferred to Room 5. Room 5: room we transferred to .. no reading lamp in main bedroom. Room 5: shower taps are in the ‘wrong place’, to turn the taps on, you have to be under the shower rose to reach the taps so you are under the shower rose when the water starts running (I like to turn on the tap and achieve a good temperature before getting under the water).

Great place, great location, when we arrived staff were friendly, our room was clean but had toothpaste on front of vanity, cobwebs, bins weren't emptied during our stay, and table wasn't wiped over, saying this it was a very nice place to stay, gardens were absolutely beautiful ( could do with some seating through the garden to sit and enjoy) staff in restaurant were very friendly and accommodating, we will definitely love to stay again as overall great experience.

Staff were extremely welcoming and professional. Very courteous from booking in to staff at Azzure, breakfast service. Apartment 22 was very clean. Lounge furniture is modern and very comfortable. Bathrooms were functional.. kitchen also well stocked, crockery, glasses, cutlery etc Beds were comfortable and warm. Extra blankets were available.. Garden area was a bonus.
Bedrooms needed improvement. Both bedrooms not very well appointed. Main bedroom: missing 2nd bedside table, broken chain on one of the blinds. Wardrobe hanging space only for clothing no drawers. 2nd bedroom: cupboard doors wouldn't close, again no drawer storage, no bedside lamps, you had to get out of bed to turn off the light, switch was over by door. Also missing 2nd bedside table...

Breakfast buffet was a fun surprise and was very filling and timed well so we could eat and then pack up and check out. Beds so fluffy and comfortable. The armchairs were also very comfortable and welcome for when we arrived super tired. Great sound insulation between the bathroom and bedroom.
We couldn't get the conditioner bottle to dispense. We couldn't figure out how to get it to unlock. The other dispensers were fine. The bathroom cupboard shut alarmingly loud but we were just more careful with it later.

Appreciated the quietness & the spaciousness of our room - for 3 of us to relax - down the back (near the pool). What a great natural setting / environment and we commented on what a lovely place for a wedding, etc. The block-out blinds made the rooms very private.
The room was advertised as suitable for 3 people but: there were only 2 mugs & glasses in the room and lack of teabags on arrival and were not replenished when room was serviced. Went for a walk to the office for extra teabags and milk. The windows and flywire screens need to be cleaned.

Whilst only at the Mercure overnight, I received exceptional service. I arrived quite late in the evening after a long drive and the staff member at reception was quick to ask if I had eaten dinner and when I responded no, he let me know that I could order from the restaurant and that he would deliver my order to the room so I could get settled. The room was clean and perfect for my needs and I appreciated the small details that were on offer (toiletries, hair dryer, coffee making facilities etc).

Great location near Sovereign Hill. Rooms were quiet as I was well away from the busy road. Nice and clean. Bed reasonably comfortable. Perfect room for what I was after and it was a decent price on a “getaway deal”. I looked at booking the next night as well however without the deal I believed it was too costly for what you get.
Unfortunately soon after checking in I had two ladies open my door - I assume they were housekeeping. I didn’t feel as comfortable after that. They did apologize and then leave.
