The Motley Hotel was exceptional. Our room was on the 7th floor so no street noise and lovely views of the city. We stayed for 4 nights and had breakfast on 2 mornings. The food was absolutely delicious. The room was a great size and well appointed, I always appreciate bathrooms which have enough room to store toiletries and this was a very well designed bathroom. The bed and pillows were super comfy. The location was fantastic, we could walk into the city or to Olympic Park to watch the Australian Open. There is a tram stop right outside but we preferred to walk. The artwork and decor around the hotel and in the rooms are gorgeous.

Wished we could have stayed for longer.

Excellent location... tram stops right in front of the hotel for easy city access. Bed was so comfortable and I need to buy that exact doona as it was the best I've ever come across! Trendy painting on the building opposite the balcony made for a brighter stay amongst the arty hotel vibe. Definitely recommend The Motley Hotel!

Parking... I have a ute and was lucky to not have to park it in the stackers. Only other problem was that when I went to leave the laundry bags were so close to my ute that I ran over them trying to manoeuvre my car in the small space provided. Best to not have the laundry stacked so close to a vehicle as they were extremely heavy for me to move!

This property is in a fantastic location - minutes from the MCG, on the main streets of Richmond, and a short tram ride into the city of Melbourne. There were plenty of eateries around the property to choose from. The staff were amazing. We stayed there for two nights, with my child having surgery at the nearby Epworth Hospital, and all staff were very attentive to all of our needs (24 hours). The rooms were very comfortable with plenty of space, free movies on the TV to keep my recovering kid satisfied, along with excellent free internet. Bathrooms were spacious and superbly appointed. I would highly recommend this hotel and plan to stay here again for other events in the city.

No recommendations to book the restaurant on Saturday night when we checked in on Friday. Was fully booked when we arrived to have dinner which was disappointing. Also no notice that the rooftop bar was closed for a private function on the Saturday night so dinner and pre- dinner drinks didn’t work out at all. Instead we went up after dinner and were the only people there, only to be asked to move so they could accommodate a large group. There was plenty of space for the large group to go elsewhere in the bar but apparently they wanted our seats. Very odd and not a good feeling to be dismissed as a guest from the hotel when booking this venue the restaurant and bar was an attraction.

We stayed at The Motley while in town for The Formula 1. After staying in city centre the past few times we decided on The Motley in Richmond due to it's location. Outlet shopping stores nearby, Coles down the road and a tram stop right outside the door. The hotel itself was gorgeous upon entering. Staff super friendly upon check-in and we enjoyed the free drink cards upon arrival. We made great use out of the Red Bull "Pit Stop" and goodie bags supplied each day over the weekend - it was a nice touch! We also made a reservation at Miss Parker's one night and thoroughly enjoyed the food, decor and atmosphere. Although portion sizes were smaller than expected, we could not fault the food itself. Delicious. Table service was fantastic! Sharp and attentive and made us feel warm welcomed. The room had modern facilities, was spacious for 2, clean and vibrant. After walking about all day in Melbourne we come back to unwind using the large shower.. soft bathrobe.. The bed was comfortable, a tad too soft for my liking but that is just a personal preference :) Since returning from our trip I highly recommend The Motley to everyone I know. Thank you Motley team. You were fantastic! We were surely impressed with how much thought and care you have put into this for all your guests. We are certain we will come stay again.

Rooms were beautiful and met all expectations. Loved the rooms…super sophisticated for a great price. Amazing modern tech for room entrance and doors etc… Lovely and amazingly quiet. The family room is two rooms connected and not all in one, but has small entrance way with one main lockable door for both rooms, which wasn’t a problem with teenagers, but might be with younger children. Would definitely stay again.

Breakfast was a big let down …sadly… Parking also a little difficult. There are 4 hour spaces out the back of the hotel, but for the quality of the hotel you almost expect some mode of hotel parking.

A lovely hotel with an awesome vibe, friendly staff, beautiful room with lots of extras, free drink vouchers upon check in, complimentary lolly bag to welcome us to our room, coffee machine and lovely toiletries in the bathroom. Amazing aroma in the main foyer, when I asked what the beautiful smell was I was told you could purchase the room spray, it was made for The Motley Hotel and they sell small bottles of it, so happy with my purchase and our stay!

The only disappointment was that when we booked via booking.com it stated the property had onsite parking for a small fee and that there was no need to prebook. The property didn't have parking facilities, we parked on the street around the corner as we weren't comfortable parking in the Coles car park the Hotel recommended, it was a little too far from the hotel and I wasn't comfortable walking that distance in the dark. Everything else was fantastic!

The booking was VERY short notice! Although it seemed to be an anomoly for them to approve a booking at such short notice due to an issue we had with the AirBNB we had booked, they treated us with kindness and empathy and did everything they could expeditiously to ensure we got to our room as quickly as possible. The staff were absolutely amazing.

I can't say that there was anything that I didn't like. As mentioned, they really were just incredibly hospitable and kind and provided us with a safe place for the night when we really were in dire straits. I am just so thankful and grateful for their support in accommodating us at such short notice.

The hotel staff were nothing short of amazing. I had specific requests and Celestine at reception did everything she could without over-promising — the essence of exceptional customer service. She helped make travelling with a toddler much easier. From help with food and beverage orders (cafe/restaurant) to local tram guidance (front office), they were outstanding. The location is perfect, right on the tram line on the Main Street of Richmond, however the hotel is very quiet. The room and hotel eclectic furnishings were all beautiful — new, sparkling clean and contemporary (without being too garish). Thank you, and special thanks to Celestine — you truly are an invaluable asset to The Motley.

The hotel was really clean and we loved the vibe and funky decor. Staff were lovely too.

Aircon made cracking/creaking noises all night. There is no phone so you have to use an iPad to order room service, but it never worked so we had to call the hotel from our mobiles to place an order. Ordered hard fried eggs that arrived runny & when ordering the pasties, it was a choice between croissants or chocolate danishes, I asked for croissants but chocolate danishes arrived. So that was a bit disappointing but not a huge problem.
