The hiking was amazing providing beautiful views and great opportunities to reconnect with nature and disconnect from the busy nature of everyday life. We ate at the cafe in the morning for a quick breakfast and coffee. The hot tub is big enough to feel comfortable if others are there… nice and big. The bar was a great place to unwind eat some really good food or completely let loose. Both happened and both were amazing.

It was dry and they had humidifiers but there was water in them already. Seemed unsanitary to us.

The staff was wonderful. All extremely helpful, answered our questions, provided great service, and took care of our requests on any issue we encountered. The Mad Trapper in the Village was a great restaurant with great service and food. The gondola rides up and down from the parking to the lodge every day was amazing and relaxing.

The Chimney restaurant in the lodge. Unfortunately, the food was terrible, and we were charged for someone else's meal that was more costly than ours. I was tired, did not pay attention to the itemized bill, and having pasta that was inedible, I was in too much of a hurry to just get out of the venue.

We had a great time. It was in a central location to get to all the places we wanted to see and visit. There were things to do around the resort, restaurants and coffee. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

That the gondola stopped at 6pm, forcing us to use the shuttle. At times we had to wait a bit for it to arrive or if there were many people waiting, we had to wait for more shuttles to come. Also, for the mornings, they only take 5-7 reservations so if you want to start your day early and there are no spots, you are stuck and can't get down until an available time. They need to have either bigger shuttles or more running during busy times.

All staff were very friendly and accommodating. Located at Ski Resort ~2,500 ft higher than Banff, so cooler than the heat Banff experienced (90°). Chair lift is open for walk/hikes to scenic alpine lakes. If you like nature and being away from tourist hustle that Banff has become, this is a great option.

This is not a negative, but simply a factor. The ski resort/lodge is approx. 2,500 ft in elevation gain from the parking lot, and lodge access is available by Gondola 8a-6p from that parking lot, and 6p-11p by lodge shuttle at regular intervals. If you need a lift up or down at different times, you need to reserve them. It is pretty cool to take a Gondola to the lodge, but keep in mind you may be taking different modes of transport and the off hours transport (11p-8a) needs a reservation. Just to keep in mind.

The staff was incredibly friendly and accomodating. All of them. Every single staff member we met was pleasant and conversational. Our room was upgraded without asking and it was so much more than we expected, the view was stunning and we loved the peace of being out of Banff and up on the mountain. We didn’t feel “trapped” at all, if we came back after the gondola had closed there was always a shuttle available quickly. The chair lift was a fun way to get to the trails around the mountains are a must do.

The food was good but the choices were limited for the summer season, especially for the kids menus. It is a little on the expensive side, but it was what we expected for a captive audience at a mountain lodge and comparable price wise to the restaurants in Banff.

I really liked the location!! Yes, it was a little out of Banff, but I truly felt staying there, I was experiencing living in the Rockies. I actually loved taking the gondola to the place. The walking/hiking in the meadows was a highlight of a month's holiday. Our room was well appointed and clean. Small luxuries of having a very easy coffee machine that also had pods for chocolate, chocolates on the bed at night, a huge hot tub and the very helpful staff made our stay an enjoyable one. Also I liked the bar, cafe and restaurants. There were all there within walking distance without the crowds we experienced in the township of Banff. Very relaxing!

Nothing!

A different experience, staying at the top of a mountain accessible by cable-car! Staff was very friendly and approachable. Price for one night included 2 days unlimited rides on the gondola and the lift up to Standish with a glorious lookout over Rock Isle Lake and lovely hikes. Uncrowded at "shoulder season". Unfortunately the glorious summer weather just broke for our 2 day stay. It'd be even lovelier had the weather been dry for hiking and clear skies at night for Aurora viewing! Hotel was very clean, and there were spa facilities available at a price, and a hot tub, which we did not try. Bathroom facilities were nice and robes/slippers provided. Restaurant food was nice but uncomplicated and nothing special for the price. Bar meals also available in the Trappers bar. Also a small Cafe in hotel for cakes/pastries and coffees etc.

I was too warm at night (not unusual for me), but also the mattress was quite bouncy when either of us moved, so not a very good sleep. There were a couple of "lounge chairs" that were really not comfortable, and they faced a gas fire which would have been cosy if it had stayed on but turned off automatically after a short while, either because the room temp was thermostatically controlled or it was on a timer? Had to sit up in bed to watch TV. Not a big deal but could have been more comfortable with better chairs/seating arrangement.

We were there in the summer to visit Banff and Jasper. The gondola was fun with beautiful views. The hotel was convenient to town and park sites. The room was cozy and comfortable! We had a couple of enjoyable dinners in the bar/tavern. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. I had incorrectly booked an activity through their store prior to our trip but there was no problem, I went to the guest services counter and had my refund in minutes!

It would be nice if you had a cement path/walkway from the hotel to the gondola. When we were leaving we had to drag our suitcases over the gravel which was very difficult!

It was a room in a lodge so it was a cute room. The cleanliness is fairly ok. We took the Gondola down the mountain every morning then took the shuttle back every night. The reason we booked it is because we want to see the mountain view in the summertime but still with a bit of snow. It is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But next time we will stay somewhere with more convenient traffic.

The room is a bit small and the cleanliness is fair. The room looks old though. We have to reserve a shuttle after 11 pm and need to drive 20 minutes every day to Banff town for food. There is no AC in the room and it was a bit hot in mid summer but other than that, no AC is good for all year around.

Great experience to stay at Sunshine Mountain. You get to experience the gondola up to the lodge (which is a good 20 minutes long!) Not far from Banff which was good for us and the facilities were good. I especially enjoyed use of the small, but well equipped gym that you can access whenever you like! As well as having a cup of tea on the balcony overlooking the gondola and chair lifts!

Room facilities were a little old fashioned but still worked all fine. In summer, it was a little quiet and a little bit out of the way of other main parts of Banff. There was also no fridge but not a massive issue as we only stayed 2 nights!
