The location was beautiful and very remote. We were lucky and got to see the northern lights. The stay would have been tricky without a car. With the car, we were able to get to skiing, food shops and other restaurants within about 30 minutes. There isn't anything in walking distance outside of the compound, but the compound has a cozy restaurant and bar. The fireplace made our cottage very cozy, and the staff was very quick to respond when we had issues with anything. The shower and kitchen were extremely tiny but worked well for our purposes. The staff was friendly and they even did a fireworks show on New Year's Eve. The staff contacted me in advance to see if we wanted to book a husky or reindeer tour, which we did, but only the husky tour was available. It was a great experience for the kids, but should have been stated when booking that kids under 16 are not allowed to drive the husky sled. The kids loved the pool table in the restaurant, which was often available and free of charge. We considered hiring snowshoes but we weren't sure if the kids would manage them and they were a little pricy for a family of four.
The staff at check-in didn't seem to know much about the local area, like where to advise us to pick up food or things to do. The restaurant on-site was reasonably priced but the food was not great and breakfast was basic. Using the sauna seemed awkward as it was not close to our cottage and the booking system was unclear. More information could be provided on arrival about the area and on-site facilities as well as pricing for the extras like wood for the fireplace. Our neighbours were quite loud (just on the other side of the wall) until late at night.

Good value for money, well equiped, clean. Staff are helpful and nice to you.
Location is a bit remote. If you are staying in one of the lodges in the winter, you have to walk to a separate building where the bathroom and kitchen are, which is inconvinient in snow and cold.

Charming cottages in the forest near the gold museum. Small but clean. Comfortable mattresses (although not all), large table, fireplace. Shared kitchen fully equipped. Clean bathrooms. You can go to gold panning lessons.
There is a lack of a deckchair/bench on the terrace or in front of the house on sunny days.

Probably the most beautiful and place I have ever stayed at! My cabin was really cozy and warm, staff was welcoming and I even enjoyed sauna in the evening. Would definitely come back again in spring or summer when I would have more daytime to enjoy nature around.

The proximity to nature trails is fantastic. The place rent snow shoes that are needed for some of the trails. The shared bathroom and kitchen were also great and convenient and super close to the cabin. Our cabin was super cute and cozy. The food at the restaurant was great. The staff is super nice and there are good vibes in this place. There are buses a few times a day to Saariselka. I totally recommend it!

The apartment has been very comfortable, clean and offered great views and excellent coffee. The personnel at the reception has been extraordinarily helpful (special thanks to the lady from Australia who has helped with lots of questions and issues)
To be honest breakfast wasn’t great, that’s really the only thing to complain about. Not too many veggie options and limited choice. Apart from that this stay has been magical.

We absolutely loved our stay at Tankavaara Gold Village. We booked a small cottage/cabin and we liked it very much. It looked very comfy and cute and is surrounded by nature. Beds were not our favourites, quite hard mattresses, but maybe that's part of the experience. We liked creating our own fire in the fireplace. The sanitary building was not even a minute walk from our cabin and was always clean. Also the kitchen was clean. Had dinner two times in the restaurant and it was actually the best food we ate during our holiday, definitely reccommend to have dinner while staying there. Also had a good experience with the reception, they were very helpfull and friendly. We had a problem with our booked snowmobile tour which got cancelled and they helped us out with booking a new one. The environment is very pretty and quite. There are 3 hikes to enjoy (1,3,6 km) We did all of them and we liked the 6km hike the most. It brings you up to a hill with a magnificent view, there is also a special viewing point. We were wondering if we could see the Northern Lights over there, because of all the trees...but there are enough open spaces to catch them. We saw them for two nights and it was an amazing experience. Definitely recommend this place and we hope that we will be able to come back some day :)

Beautiful corner fireplace inside the room
They only gave a little bit of fire wood and 3 matches to light up the fireplace. Need to buy extra whole bag (no option other option) for the firewood and matches to continue on burning.
