Excellent location - very central. Friendly, helpful staff, clean room with good amenities. It had everything we needed. We would definitely come and stay here again. Secure parking was available which was convenient, although 15€ per night. La Rochelle is beautiful and this hotel was perfect for our stay.

It's not that I didn't like something, I just have a couple of comments. The buffet breakfast seemed a little expensive (especially if you don't eat a lot for breakfast). Although great that there was a couple of GF options, the GF bread was very small. The hot chocolate I had in the evening was disappointing- sadly the mug was only half full, which was disappointing for 5 euros.

Fantastic location ,close to everything but peaceful.Well equipped rooms with nice bathroom and very comfortable bed with sheets changed daily, and a decent hairdryer in room.Friendly and helpful staff

The first evening on my own ,I decided to eat in the hotel. I chose from the formula soup and fish., which was served in a glass jar.The latter was a mush,really overcooked and tiny pieces of fish among the vegetables. I just couldn't eat it and explained to a member of staff and asked if I could have some cheese instead. A big platter of cheese was then far too much for one person so I left a lot of it. At the end of my stay I paid the bill and was subsequently given an itemised one. I then saw that I had been charged for the uneaten main course that I had complained about, which I do not think I should have been. Sorry I felt I had to mention this because otherwise I loved the hotel and would definitely stay there again

Great location in the heart of the old city, parking on site or in a public car park 10 minutes walk away. The street has very little traffic the area is very pretty. The hotel breakfast room is attractive with plenty of light. The breakfast buffet had a very large range on offer, and of very good quality.. The bedroom was very modern, spotless, well appointed.

The 'cosy' double room was spacious enough, but I was not keen on the lack of privacy as only the toilet has has a separate door, the resi of the bathroom is only screened from the bedroom, which did not feel quite private enough. Other rooms may be different.

Very good location = walking distance to the main tourist attractions of La Rochelle. Room "Privilege" comfortable, large and modern elevator. The hotel has its own garage, for some 15 EUR/night (narrow parking slots). Breakfast varied, accommodating almost all options (French style, British, continental etc.) - in standard quality. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Instead of the welcoming bar drinks ticket, bottles of mineral water in the room would have been maybe a better option. Fairly expensive hotel. All tourist attractions and little restaurants crowded - normal on a Saturday evening in August. Only the first 3 floors make use of the elevator, fourth floor to be reached by stairs.

Recently refurbished, lovely rooms and shower, coffee and tea facilities in room, can mirror to Netflix on tv, lovely breakfast, mix of hot and continental. Location is perfect, quiet street couple of min walk to the harbour. Lovely conservatory to eat in or just sit with a drink. Can also sit outside the hotel. We booked this for the secure bookable parking. Excellent service and would highly recommend

We did have a quick evening risotto on the 1st eve which unfortunately was a microwave meal and expensive. I think the kitchen was closed that night.

Central location is good, although a little tricky to get to by car. Just far enough away from the busy harbour so that noise is not an issue. Having parking available is a real bonus. Really nice breakfast and having bar snacks available in the evening is useful.

Not a lot! We didn't try the fitness centre / pool so can't comment. My wife doesn't like lifts so we used the stairs a lot and the lighting could do with the PIRs being better sited. It can be a bit dark.

It's such a pleasure when a hotel is even more impressive than you were expecting. The Hôtel Saint Nicolas is just about perfect, located a three minute walk to the quayside with its many restaurants. The underground parking is excellent and the reception staff were extremely courteous and helpful when we checked in. Our room was marvellously well equipped with everything we needed and more. The breakfasts are just superb. Absolutely nothing negative to say.

A very smart, beautifully designed modern hotel in a great central location. We were given a room upgrade and had a lovely big, comfortable room for two nights. The staff were extremely helpful and spoke excellent English. The free drink was a nice touch. The breakfast was good, as it should be for €18 each. We walked everywhere, there are bars and restaurants close to the hotel as well as further afield. Overall, a lovely place to stay in a beautiful town. Would highly recommend!

Room was exceptionally quiet and comfortable beds. Breakfast was excellent with a huge choice of hot and cold food and very attentive staff to help. Location was great, two minutes to the Quai and 5 minutes to shops and restaurants.

Rooms were small and sink was separate to WC which was a tiny room. I’m small so i think someone larger would struggle to use it! Lunch time meals were not brilliant, the dishes we had were basically rice with a few bits of fish added.

Well-located hotel with excellent facilities. The beauty of the hotel catches the eye. Truly very beautiful!!! The breakfast was excellent. We may return. ..

The hotel was a bit strict regarding schedules, even though we had a health situation that required us to visit the nearby hospital (we had to negotiate extensively to leave the car in the parking lot until 2:00 PM to have time to attend a medical appointment). So, the human touch is not the hotel's strong suit. If we do return, I hope we won't need any favors.
