The proprietor was very welcoming. I don't think this part of Germany gets many English speaking visitors, and my family has very little German language. The proprietor spent a lot of time explaining menus and how things worked. Having got a short list of where to stay in Freiburg we chose the most German looking one, and checked it was closed to transport links, the tram stop and the city bike rack are very close. The breakfast staff must have been very confused by us, but by the end of the week, (with gestures) I managed to show them that (for us English and Irish people) we want boiling water put directly onto the (English breakfast) teabags. It was impossible to try to explain then why that makes a difference, but there are flavour compounds that only dissolve at very high temperatures, and the tea was much better after that.

My mum (in her 70s) found getting trams in and out of the city centre tiring.

Lovely furnished room and an excellent shower. Beer garden welcomed on a hot summer’s evening and we dined there too. Very good evening meal .

We’re not too good on our pins so next time we’ll ask for first floor rather than the second floor we were allocated. It was a very warm night and our room was very hot overnight; the fan provided did help a little but was too noisy to keep on whilst trying to sleep.

The building is a historic landmark so there is no elevator. A staff member was helpful in helping us bring the suitcases upstairs. The breakfast room was beautiful and the breakfast selection was good. We had a very nice stay.

We did not like that there was no parking available but 4 spots that were taken. We were lucky that we came on a Sunday evening and parking was free across the street on the weekend days.

We have stayed here before and this time we had dinner too. Just what we wanted and after 8 days in Piemonte you just want some good German food and a break from pasta etc…..The hotel is placed in walking distance ( 25 min. ) Breakfast is very good.

Bed is very comfy, staff is friendly. Regular storage space in the room. Breakfast is very good. Restaurant on site is a big plus and location is excelente with good connectivity to the city centre. Ideal for families.

The location was good with publuc transportation to old Town a 3 minute walk down the c street. The staff friendly and the breakfast was excellent

Didn't particularly like Freiberg Altstadt itself. Run down, felt dirty and wasn't vibrant.

Excellent location for access to Freiburg, safe parking for motorbikes, smart room and excelllent food in restaurant. Found a couple of excellent traditional german restaurants within walking distance if the prices in the restaurant are too high.

Maybe a little more storage in the room, but that's maybe a small point

The dinner in the restaurant was exceptional. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. All necessary amenities readily available. A charming historic hotel in a very beautiful quaint city, perfect location.

The rooms are very comfortable, clean and spacious. They are very good isolated because you don’t hear anything during the nigth. Breakfast is good, and has several options to eat (salty, sweet…) The staff is very helpful and kindly. The hotel is 25 minutes by foot to the center and 10 minutes by tram, what is close to the hotel.

Great hotel and bar. Very helpful staff. Near tram stop. Good size family room.

The restaurant is not open Monday or Tuesday so couldn't enjoy a meal in the hotel.
