It has a nice design, an environmentally correct philosophy, and multiple spaces with the possibility to work away from home. The location is good - close to public transport, so it is easy to get around. The room isn't big, but I got what you need for a short stay. The bathroom is nice and functional. The bed is okay and comfortable.

They had just opened when we arrived in our own car. It was complicated to unload the suitcases in front of the hotel. The hotel doesn't offer parking. There is public parking close by, but you cannot prebook. It is a very plant-based breakfast buffet. I would like there to be more non-vegan options. It's important to remember to order your eggs; they are cooked to order and are not at the buffet. There is no refillable water bottles or reusable cups for water in the room - remember to bring your own. There is only Wi-Fi in public areas, not in the rooms. It's not a problem for us as we have a sufficient mobile data package, but for some, it might be.

Very friendly welcome. Everything clean and excellent security. Good bathroom and shower. Nice roof bar and terrace, although this was very busy on party night before public holiday.

Room was a little small, but met all our needs. All accurately described, so advice is to read the details carefully.

Nice clean and new hotel but very very basic. We did not realise it was an eco hotel when we booked so we're surprised that there were no tea or coffee making facilities or seating in room. And also no TV (should have looked closer at the pictures!) Bathroom was very big for a city centre hotel. Hotel was about a 7 min walk from main train station.

Lack of anywhere to sit in the room that was easily accessible ..nearly 50 now and didn't enjoy having to climb up on the bed every time I needed to sit down. Also the lack of anywhere to hang anything..the only storage was in the wooden drawers in the base of the bed. I also didn't like the area around and I don't think I would have felt confident if travelling alone. Very disappointed with breakfast offering too as we paid around 17 Euro each and it was either very very basic or cold food offered. I ended up with scrambled eggs on bread and butter!!

This property is literally 5 minutes from the main rail station and about 20 minutes walk from the beautiful Speicherstadt, harbor, canals, and Elbphilharmonie. So, perfect location, along with tiny, but well laid out, spotless rooms (loved the bathroom wallpaper) and a really amazing rooftop bar. (See the photo of a tiny portion of the view from the bar…) Oh, and the staff? SO pleasant and patient. Really delightful. We didn’t try the breakfast but the breakfast area looked pleasant and there’s a comfortable place at the corner of the lobby to wait for friends. (PLUS a popcorn maker — which I only found as we were leaving, but I might have to come back, just to try it.) All this coupled with the most affordable rate (I could find) among any of the listed hotels in the area. Trust me, when we come back to Hamburg, we’ll stay here.

What could have been better? Well, the weather, but I can’t hold Villa Viva Hamburg responsible for that! And the staffer at the check-in had some great suggestions for rainy (torrential!) days in the city that helped us put some sunshine into the situation.

The location is very good. Everything is walkable and if you don't want to walk close to transport hub which has added benefit of a supermarket and lots of late eateries. Getting from the airport is simple and hotel short walk from main station. Breakfast was very good for me, always fresh and mostly vegetarian and vegan which I like (my husband gave it a miss). A surprise was the vegan curry, mushrooms, 2 types of hummus, coleslaw and chickpea salad. There is very good vegan bircher museli and lots of soya yoghurt plus vegan cheese ( if you like them) plus other cheese, plain ordinary & greek youghurt, meat, eggs, excellent bread, fresh juice, fruit (limited).nuts, seeds, cereals plus tea - large selection and coffee. Roof top has great views and opens late. Very much a younger person's place in as much as it's quite on trend. Staff and friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend and if I ever cane back to Hamburg would be more than happy to stay again. My husband also really liked the shower soap and the showers good.

We didn't like the beds. Many people said in reviews the beds are too hard, I chose this hotel based on this as I like hard beds and need them for my back. In the UK people are obsessed with memory foam which are just cheap and nasty. In over 40 years travelling in Europe I have never had a memory foam bed until now. Just stop Europe, don't go down that route. I wasn't keen on the decoration/colour in our room but that's just personal taste. They aren't all the same so its pot luck, I might have loved another one. I would have loved a breakfast menu on the website.

Really nice place, in a style we called "cozy-modern" :-). As expected the room was small, the bed was very comfortable and the small bedroom was absolutely sufficient. Very clean. I am a little cautious to recommend the sauna, as this might lead to it being occupied the next time. (Used the sauna and it was superb. Seems like a hidden gem not many people use, so maybe it should be kept a secret :D). Obviously we would not hesitate to book this hotel again, and we might do it soon.

Some family members complained about the fact there was no TV in the rooms, but the parents disagreed :-) Apart from that everbody was happy.

It’s a big hotel with a modern feel, close to the main train station of Hamburg. Good place for nights out at the Markthalle. Rather quiet at night if you leave your window closed.

The room was very small for two, no space for luggage really and no emptying of bin during the stay (ok for two nights, but still). We had breakfast which was also quite limited for its price. Overall, I found the stay pricey for what you got. They tried hard to be eco friendly, but it shouldn’t be at such expense. Lockers to deposit your small trolley for the day were either full or didn’t work…and certainly not enough to host more than 30 guests, whereas the hotel is big. Pity

Interesting modern design: the shell of the building is all concrete, including the floor, ceiling and walls of the rooms. Most of the rest is bare wood. Features included a folding table - although there wasn't really enough floor space to use it - and a platform bed. Murals and pictures add character. Bathroom was very well laid out and the shower was good. Free secure luggage storage. Aircon and wi-fi both worked well. Underlying ethos of the hotel, supporting water-related charities in the developing world.

Room was very compact, with nowhere to sit except on the bed. Vegetarian breakfast was very expensive at almost €20. Not much to see or do in the immediate area, a rather dead part of town.

My wife & I disagreed about our evaluation of this hotel. (The scores I've given reflect her view.) What we both liked: Modern hotel, well-decorated, good location (easy walk from the Hauptbahnhof), very nice roofbar, friendly & helpful staff, swing seats in the restaurant! What she also liked: Vegan/vegetarian breakfast.

My reservations: The room was quite small, and it had neither a televsion nor facilities for making tea/coffee. Also, I would have liked bacon with the breakfast. A little bit pricey. (We were travelling through Hamburg to our final destination in Denmark, and had reserved here for the return trip. I decided to reserve another hotel, however, which turned out to be equally pleasant, closer to the Hauptbahnhof and two-thirds the price.)

The whole atmosphere was so fresh and the interior design around the reception was so awesome unique. The staff made us feel so welcoming. The room was also very unique. The hotel was a short walking distance to the main train station and the city centre. The beds were super comfy and cosy. Price was excellent.Would stay there any time again.

There is a rooftop bar which looked fantastic. Unfortunately by 7pm there was no space to go for a drink. The bar itself didn't have any nice cocktails with or without alcohol 😔. The music was quite loud at the bar in and outside as well as in the lifts near the rooms and was been heard in the room 3 floors down below till 1 at night. Other thing there wasn't any TV or tea facilities in our room. Not that I missed the TV but would love to have a cuppa before going to bed.
