I had a good experience at the hostel, and I honestly don’t understand why it received bad reviews. To be upfront, my room wasn’t on the first or second floor. I went downstairs and saw my room number was 29, and I was a bit confused at first. But when I entered, the room was surprisingly spacious, and both the toilet and shower were clean and well-maintained. It wasn’t the most luxurious place, but for £11 a night, it was perfectly fine. I stayed in an 8-bed mixed dorm. Despite Hamburg being cold outside, my room was very warm—so much so that I had to open the window on the first night! If others had negative experiences, it might just be a matter of bad luck. Personally, I liked the place. For the price and location, it’s definitely acceptable.

Far from center but not too far.

It is really close the center. And there is a bus stop very close to the hotel so if you don’t want to walk, you can take the bus and go to center very easily. The room was hot you can arrange the temperature from radiator and there was hot water as well. The room was really quiet. I had been read in every comment about there is too much noise. But only noise was from the hotel like door closing noises.

The room was very small. We barely opened the our suitcases. In addition I cannot say dirty but cant say clean either for the room.

I liked it a lot that the bathroom and the toilet were in the same room as I was staying. They had necessary bathing facilities, and the bathroom itself was quite nice and clean. Also, bathroom and toilet were separate. I also was lucky enough to stay in a 5-bed room with only two people staying (including me).

There were lots of teenagers who were very loud after 9 pm. I’m not being grumpy, but after a tiring day it’s not what I would like to hear. Also, my neighbor was a bit strange and always taking on the phone with a speaker instead of doing it outside the room, but it’s not the hostel’s fault. Inside the room, the desk was too small and shaky to work on it, and there were no chairs to sit on, only puffs, but they are not comfortable to sit for a long time. I also had to put the sheets on myself, in the hostels where I’ve been before it’s usually done by the staff. The location is close to the train/bus station, but it was a bit scary to walk alone to get to the hostel at 9 pm.

I liked how much space there was on the room (for 8 people). And that there were two full bathrooms inside the room. The beds were comfortable. There was a full body mirror and a big wardrobe. The bunkbeds were nice built and distributed in the space.

I would have preferred to have the bed settled already instead of having to do it myself as I was quite tired when I got there, but it's understandable. The usb chargers in the beds didn't work (neither of the two in each bed). And there was really few options where to plug in our phone to charge.

The Staffs weren't really chatty but they were really nice and helpful. I don't have anything to complain about their behaviors . It was a nice stay and experience. I am a girl and I had three boys as roommate. At first I was really worried but then I am glad because I could make some friends. They were really friendly, helpful and above all reliable and respectful. To top that off, they were real gentlemen.

I wish I had a proper locker in my room. I was just given a closet where I could put my luggages but there wasn't any locker on it. I suppose it s fine because I am in Germany but still, you are sharing your room with foreigners so you may never know if they are trustworthy.

The staff at the front desk was really helpful when checking in. They gave me all I needed for the stay, and some directions and special advice for traveling to my destination. They were kind and interested in me, something I did not expect from such a large place. There are some facilities in and around the a&o, I just used the lockers, the breakfast, and the pizza place which was a 50 meter walk. It's really nice that you can check in any time. Perfect for me.

I really dont't think I can complain about the stay for the price I paid. (16 euros for a shared dorm) The breakfast was 9.75 euro though, which made me a bit less happy. It was a decent breakfast. This place may not have all the comforts and facilities of a normal hotel, but if you just need a place to sleep it's totally sufficient.

I stayed here for 4 days and the guy who was working at the reception was extremely friendly and helpful. His name was Dren, he assisted me with all me requests very professionally and made my stay as good as possible. I couldn’t thank him personally at the end of my stay so I want to thank him for his assistance by leaving a good review. Thanks to the employees like him I will chose A&O Hostels for my next vacations. Good service, good facilities and totally would recommend this place :)

Could be a bit more central.

Has a real bathroom, not just a random cubicle. Enough clean towels. Enough space to charge all devices in the shared rooms. Provides hygiene products such as shampoo and liquid soap. Provides clean sheets and covers. Easy to find location, although I would suggest to search the name of the hostel and not the address thats provided, because the location is not correct. There are buss stops near the building. Inside the rooms there are small lockers(keep in mind you need to deposit 5€ and they don't accept card for that). In the hostel there are bigger lockers on the first floor, 4€ for 24h. Again, no card, need to have coins. Staff were helpful. There is a cute popcorn machine on the first floor :'D.

No AC in the room, if it's too hot you need to open the windows fully and there is a very real danger of falling down.

The staff is really friendly and willing to help. The location is just a few minutes walk away from the main train station and the city centre.

There are two tiny bathrooms for each room of 8 people (one with a toilet and one with a shower). Be mindful that the lack of space will leave you making a wet mess both inside the bathroom and in cosequently in the room itself.

The location is very close to the Hbf and the beds and bathroom were comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful at any time of the day.

Saturday night was expensive while Sunday night was half the money. We booked a mixed dorm which felt a little uncomfortable as we were the only two women. These are mostly on us when we booked. Just to keep in mind when anyone books.
