We stayed in 5 properties on our 8 day stay, this was the most expensive per night and the most disappointing. I want to make clear that it was immaculate and very comfortable. It's in a great position for the beach and 'town'. The disappointment came from the fact that it's called Vik Cottages and it's just a small hotel room. You look at the picture of the cottage and think that you're getting the whole cottage but you are just in half of it, it was basically a carbon copy of the hotel room we stayed in the day before but smaller. We were only staying one night and didn't need to unpack much, but if you were to stay a few days with a friend, it would be a tight squeeze. The soundproofing between the other half of the cottage is not good, you can hear talking going on and the you can definitely hear all of the showering next door etc. If your neighbours were noisy it would be problematic.

Misleading marketing and name. Soundproofing with shared neighbours.

The location is excellent, the staff is very helpful. I greatly appreciated that the cottages had wifi. Parking is free and a few steps from the entrance of the cottages. Overall, a pleasant experience that was consistent with other experiences in Iceland.

I was unaware that European bed sizes are slightly smaller than American bed sizes, which can make a difference for taller/larger Americans like myself. The mattresses and pillows were adequate, but not terrible, so you can expect to recover from a long day but not necessarily feel completely rejuvenated. The bathrooms are a bit small (toilet is very close to the wall so I had to sit at an angle.)

Lovely place. Same owner as Hotel Vik, so you get some of their facilities as restaurant and staff help. Everything was clean, great room space. Good toilet amenities.

Not much room in the shower or in the bathroom at all. Hot water runs out and you're left full of soap with only cold water, because they use eletric boiler and it takes very very long to warm water again. Suggest getting a bigger boiler. We were expecting a little bit more fanciness from our most expensive stay in Inceland (10 days in different cities). Not very good value for money, but guess Vik is expensive.

The nesting birds on the cliff directly behind the cabin. Very efficient at the front desk. Bar staff was helpful. The cabin was nice and quiet. Many people in the past expressed concerns over the cabin being a duplex. We never heard our neighbors expect when they were coming or going. Could have walked to anything in Vik very quickly.

The view on booking.com pictures was deceiving. You see buildings and a campground out the front porch. Could have used a mini bar or small refrigerator.

Location was right at Vik. The room was cosy. It was one cottage & two rooms. When we approached Hotel Vik to collect the keys, we asked if we could stay one night at the hotel instead and the other in the cottage. They very kindly obliged at no charge. The hotel room came with free breakfast but the cottage did not.

We had to share one cottage with another person. Remember to close the curtains as it was not located at a private street.

The cottage was really nice and clean Bathroom was great Staff was very helpful Location is great . Just across the street from the beach, supermarket and restaurants

No kitchen utensils like spoon, knife etc No microwave or fridge in the cottage The view from the cottage is not that great and you are not in a secluded area like you would get the feeling looking at photos. The view is actually of other buildings in front of the cottages

It was in a good, beautiful location - but just know that the view looking out from the front of the cottages is not the same as the view behind it! The view from the cottage is towards town. The cottage itself was clean, tastefully decorated and had a closet and a bench to put your bags. There was also plenty of free parking.

The bathroom, although very nice, is very small - barely enough room to move around getting in/out of the shower. WiFi was very slow when we first arrived and we couldn’t get the TV to work. Since these are advertised as cottages, it would have been nice to have a mini fridge as well.

Each cottage is actually two but the way they are divided we never heard our neighbours. The room was a good size, shower had great pressure and temperature, bed super comfy. The location is easy walking to the town, Skool Beans bus is even closer.

This was a cottage but had no cooking facilities which was a shame. Parking for the cottage though close was a little uphill path which in driving rain and wind was not fun dragging bags in, but that's only a little negative. It's a captive audience re booking and prices reflect this, this was the highest we paid for an over night stay on our trip around Iceland.

nice cottage in center of vik near stores and restaurants. the cottage had 2 beds and small desk with a kettle to make coffee. the bathroom is small but enough for a small shower and toilet.

the shower has a folding door and when u use it it causes the bathroom to get wet a lot because it is such as small space so the best thing is try to use the lowest shower pressure. also there is no designated parking for each cottage so u just have to figure out where to park down below and depending which one u get it can be a long walk up a ramp to it so if u have a lot of luggage I suggest u pick out what u need and take a smaller bag to take

No complaints, only compliments about this place. The cottage was modern with everything you would need for a more rustic stay. Check in and check out was smooth. The location is perfect with shops, gas, restaurants and groceries all within a close walk and even closer driver. Also, you’re very close to the black sand beach, which is easily accessible. Thanks for a great stay!
