The resort is lovely. Well designed with lovely rooms. The breakfast and food in the restaurant is really good and tasty. The pool area is nice and clean and has a lovely outlook. We have been to Gili Asahan twice before and loved it each time and so we were really happy to return and see little has changed. Also, excellent snorkelling from the shore at numerous points around the island. We saw so many types of fish, as well as sea snakes, sea slugs and also a turtle. Finally, the resort offers free kayaks, SUPs and snorkels.

The only slight gripes would be for them to have more free snorkels which are useable. As many are broken, so we had to find somewhere to hire them. Also, the price in the restaurant is overpriced when compared to the restaurant at Eco-resort. But nothing that would stop us returning.

Beautiful place on a beautiful tiny island. Excellent food, fantastic staff, beautiful location. The service is impeccable and very friendly. The romantic dinner by the beach was dream-like. I am writing it again, the restaurant is real good!

The beach in front of the resort is beautiful but not great as it's like the tiny harbour for the small fisherman boats, nice for scenery but less for swimming. Breakfast could include more dishes and/or a buffet, but it is very good. The roosters can wake you up very early. The manager has a very weird way of approaching clients, but I think it is just his way.

A warm welcome, delicious food and drinks (vanilla icecream! 😍), an adorable authentic cottage on a small island with the ocean on your doorstep, fishes and coral reef, beautiful sunsets, a swimming pool and the very welcoming and friendliest staff you can imagine; what more could you ask for! We got to spend a wonderful week in this little paradise. Yes, there are nature sounds like the roosters at dawn, twittering birds and the occasional gecko but that's also part of travelling to an island in Indonesia, isn't it? This resort has gained a special place in our hearts ♥️ Thanks for all the good care to all the staff and in particular: Mahendra & Amir (thanks again my friends for organising an amazing beachfront diner) Antonio, Habibi and Firman. Because of them our week was extra special! We will miss the daily chats, the jokes and also nice conversations about Indonesian culture (which you proudly wanted to teach us all about) thanks again and see you one day because we will definitely be back! Terima Kasih! Sander & Natascha

Excellent, friendly staff (thank you Hendra, Toni & rest!!), always welcoming and helpful, nice swimming pool and Bungalow

Several points I would like to highlight for improvement from management: 1. Equipment is really rundown and almost useless (snorkeling Equipment, SUP, Kajak) - all other resorts have much better and maintained Equipment 2. The NAGA restaurant is excellent but extremely overpriced compared to all other restaurants that offer the same quality (+50%!!) This was the reason we almost never ate here 3. The rooms need maintenance- no waste disposal bin in room, bathroom falling apart and constantly under water, no kettle despite mentioned here)

We extended our stay 3 times and would love to come back in the future. We stayed in a bungalow and in the private pool villa. Both were beautifully built and tastefully decorated. The pool and restaurant area, as well as the beach in front of the property were very inviting and well kept. However, what stood out for us during our stay was the incredible group of staff working here! They made us feel welcome the second we set fot on the island and made our stay very pleasant! We were travelling with our 9 month old baby, and were glad to have a travel cot provided. The property also had a large selection of toys. Most importantly, the wonderful staff were spoiling him with attention during our entire stay. The food was another highlight! We tried several items on the menu and were very happy with them all, especially the local dishes. A special thank you to Habibi, Taki and Andi for being so incredible with Julian, it meant a lot to us!

The Amehelia team is the best. So friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Amir - very warm and helpful. But in fact all on the premises were really nice. Rooms are perfect with outdoor bathroom, nice hard bed and no TV. Perfect for relaxation. Food in the restaurant is really great. It is in the expensive end of what we experienced in Bali/Lombok but the best value. We had breakfast, lubch and dinner all days - except one dinner at nearby Nautilus (also great). Beach is nice. No coral or fish, but if you walk 10 minutes you come to a very nice snorkeling spot, where some did see turtles (not us). If you are a reasonble swimmer, you can easily swim to Gili Goleng for even better snorkeling (both sides of the island). You can also take a hotel kayak or paddle board to Goleng. Not so much trash on Asahan, as it seems there is a coordinated effort to keep beaches clean. We REALLY liked that, albeit there is still room for improvement walking round the island.

You have to be aware, that the island is a small natural paradise, with all that this entails - i.e. Rooster concert starting at 4.30! We stayed 5 days, and in the end we got used to it. Wifi is bad - unless you are at the restaurant. Hotel acknowledges this fully. We did not find it to be an issue. Made us relax more. Asahan is the first place where we noticed an effort to keep beaches clean, but still there is a long way to go. Tourists come to enjoy splendid nature, and there is just so much trash all-over Indonesia. Depressing.

This is my most favorite place to stay yet!!!! Everything about Amahelia Resort is purely amazing. This is a tropical paradise. The bungalows are beautifully built. The restaurant area is gorgeous and the food and drinks were all top notch. The staff even went out of their way to prepare a special Lombok dish for us for dinner at our request. And it was delicious. Your surrounded by gorgeous water and a beautiful white sand beach with incredible snorkeling. From start to finish everything was taken care of perfectly. I can't say enough great things about the staff, especially Mr. Firman who runs this beautiful place. From answering my emails, helping us with a driver to pick us up in Bangsal port to all his great effort making our stay as enjoyable as it was. His staff are incredible. Funny, friendly and some great new friends now. Thanks Amir and Tony......you guys were a joy to get to know. We cannot wait to come back.

Great location on tiny peaceful island of Gili Asahan, great food and cocktails, great breakfasts and lovely having the pool and gorgeous warm sea to choose from. We liked having other hotels nearby to try for dinner and drinks. The hotel is right on the beach in a sheltered position overlooking Lombok and boats are moored up right off the beach. Snorkelling spot very close to the hotel and other islands nearby for snorkelling trips.

We took a boat trip to two of the three uninhabited islands nearby (Layar and Rengit) which are supposed to be very beautiful and unspoilt (we did see amazing bright blue coral!) but sadly lots of rubbish washed up on the islands, and it seems it is a bit of a snorkelling spot for the area so quite a few boats doing the same spots which felt a bit like being on a tourist trail, not what we expected for these quiet and 'secret' Gilis but otherwise we loved the area. Saw lots of plastic in the sea too, such a shame.

May 2024

We stayed 9 days during early May 2024 at room N.1 (private villa with pool) that was well appointed and comfortable, good amenities, well working AC,etc.Mr. Firman and his staff were very nice and helpful,we never received any NO as answer but only Yeses .The food at the restaurant is very high standard and well priced, nice beach, good snorkeling nearby.

It really affected us but as a suggestion, some background music would improve the experience at the restaurant, also the wifi service was a bit unstable so a telkomsel data plan for tourists is advisable.

The location was brilliant and it was fabulous being able to swim,SUP and kayak directly off the beach in front of Amahelia into the crystal clear water. The staff were divine and we were sad to leave. The Island is a true paradise and beautiful to walk around. It’s lovely interacting with the small local village and watching the comings and goings on the beach. We loved Amahelia !

We were ok with it but if you had skin sensitivities (eczema etc) then no fresh water in the bathroom could be an issue (only salt water) and this was not communicated on the website or at booking. Also Amahelia should invest in more snorkeling gear and definitely more double bladed paddles - two for the resort is not enough.
