Mossie’s truly is a hidden gem and I can’t believe we were fortunate enough to find it. The location is gorgeous, set in the quiet, picturesque lanes of east Beara, a quick drive from Glengariff, Castletownbere, the Healy Pass and other beautiful West Cork sights. The guest house itself is possibly one of the loveliest we’ve visited, certainly in Ireland and we adored our comfortable en suite bedroom (the French Room) overlooking the landscaped gardens. The service was exceptional too; Matti and Vanessa went out of their way to make us feel welcome into their home. We loved being able to sit by the fire in the lounge after s long day, relaxing with a decaf coffee from the Nespresso machine. If we are ever visiting Beara again we will not hesitate to rebook.

Everything was perfect.

In all my traveling, this was the best hotel experience I've ever had. First, the hospitality of Matti and Vanessa was second to none. They have created an incredible guest experience. You really feel like their guest, and you can really feel that everything they do at Mossie's they do with love. Every detail has been thought through: Whether it is the softness of the towels, the scent of the soap, the tea upon arrival - every detail just shines. We also had many nice conversations, and they gave us a ton of tips for the region. Second, the property is incredible. It is a restored farmhouse decorated in the traditional but luxurious style. We had a large and airy bedroom with a huge bathroom and claw-footed tub. The windows and balcony looked out onto the mountains and the sea. Out front there is a meticulous garden and many places to sit and just enjoy the view and quiet. Inside, there is also a lounge, beautifully arranged around the fireplace, and the breakfast room overlooks the sea. Third, the hotel breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had. There were five or six warm options in addition to muesli and fresh fruit, plus coffee and tea. You could also tell that they bring the same level of detail to the ingredients (free-range eggs, high-quality breakfast meats, homemade bread) as they do to other parts of your stay at the hotel. Fourth, this is a hotel like no other, in a place like no other. Beara is a unique place in Ireland, and Mossie's is the best place to experience it. The peninsula has a special vibe and the landscapes are breathtaking. At Mossie's, you can really take it all in. Thank you again for the unparalleled hospitality!

Nothing could have been better. It was a perfect stay.

Mossie's has magnificence written all over it. The greeting from the host was delightful and filled us with enthusiasm. The story of the place, its re-birth as an exceptional place in a dream-like environment was fascinating. Class marks every feature of the place. The environment in which it is located, the landscaping, the immaculate care taken to create rooms which all have a character of their own, the scrumptious breakfast presented with impeccable care and love...it just goes on and on. The room is magnificent as well.

It lies up a very narrow country lane with room for one car only and might well deter drivers who are unused to the challenges this offers. Local restaurants are some way from the hotel.

The property is so beautiful. The layout, the decor, the bedroom with exceptional views and comfort. The top class breakfast plus extra touches like coffee and relaxing lounge area with a cosy fire lighting. You could take a stroll in the fab garden. We even had some deer pass by the window while we ate breakfast. The service provided by Mani and Vanessa was 5 star all the way.

There was nothing we didn’t like

We had a wonderful stay at Mossie’s! Great attention to detail throughout which made our stay very special. We enjoyed walking around the gardens, enjoying a glass of wine by the fire, getting a great night sleep on extremely comfortable beds and a delicious breakfast in the morning with options for both veggie and meat eaters! Matti gave us some great recommendations on where to visit and our drive through Healy pass was a highlight - absolutely breathtaking scenery! We will be back to stay again!

The host, Matti, was so kind and thoughtful during our stay remember our orders for tea, was helpful with the local knowledge and things to do. the room was spotless, the bedding was really clean and super comfy. The breakfast was something out of a Disney movie with the table set went we arrived with hot croissants and fresh Orange juice aswell as a freshly made yogurt pot with oats and berry compote to start the day and a great selection of breakfast options all with local produce

the only issue I had was the Wi-Fi in the room as the Wi-Fi only covered the downstairs area, this was really an issue as we where only in the room I. the late evenings but while using the wifi in the lounge we were kindly offered tea or coffee to enjoy, as we just downloaded a couple of movies to watch in our room

Loved the whole place, location , service was exceptional amazing attention to detail consistently. Everything was so well thought out to give a great guest experience.. other guests there expressed same. Lovely couple rin the place The gardens are beautiful with a sea view on the near horizon and as the house is raised up it accentuates the view. The breakfastwaas delicious and catered for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans too. Beautiful stunning 5 star bedrooms and luxurious bedding and beds. We had a private balcony overlooking the paradise garden where blue hydrangeas are still blooming. I had a look at unoccupied rooms and they're all tasteful and unique. Stylish, comfortable guests house where you escape the mundane and can switch off. Go to the chefs table to eat in Castletown Bere recommended by Mattie, exquisite. We ll be back a true gem run by people loving what they do. An art form. 200 stars.

Nothing.

From the moment we arrived we knew this was a special place. The location is stunning, and the property is a hidden gem. We received a warm welcome from Matti and Vanessa, who went over and above throughout our stay to ensure everything was perfect. Our breakfast each day was excellent, and our room exceeded expectations.

Nothing, it was great from start to finish. The attention to detail and quality of the food and service was truly outstanding.

The breakfast was superb and the dining room was nicely decorated. The garden was beautiful with different kinds of flowers and plants, all grown well. The B&B was quiet which provided a very good environment for a break after a day's travelling around. The hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Owing to the location of the B&B, the mobile phone signal was unstable and we got lost while driving to The Mossie's.

The location is spectacular. With views over Bantry Bay and nestled at the foot of the mountains very close to the Healy Pass. Access to beautiful and peaceful gardens. A lovely old house tastefully renovated. The rooms are big and spacious. Matti is a wonderful host and the breakfast is superb! This was our second stay here and I'm sure we will be back again!
